Battlestar Galactica, Cylon Raider, Mattel, 1978

Wings slide out to reveal firing missiles. Actually, for those that don't know, these are the toys that caused firing missiles in toys to be banned for years, due to a child choking on a missile. After this, Mattel modified the ships to have non-firing missiles. You could still push the firing button, but the missile would only pop out about half way. Well, I took my old beat to hell Cylon Raider I had as a kid, and opened up both Raiders, switching out the missiles. So now I have a near mint FIRING Cylon Raider. Love it when a plan comes together.

I had been wanting to pick one of these up for a long time now, and got a pretty good deal on it.

Damn that IS nice! I had one as a kid, the first run with fireing action. I seem to remeber mine to be a lighter gray.

No, there was no color change in the runs at all. The ONLY difference was a modification to the red missiles themselves. The lighting in my pictures actually makes it SLIGHTLY brighter than it is in person.

Somewhere lost in the Andyman archives is a little Cylon from that ship. I don't know how I got it or where it currently is residing but I did have it.

lol Andy, that is pretty strange. The Cylon is usually the thing missing. Even the missiles are more common than the Cylons. Good thing I didn't know you had him, because if I did, I would have been begging you for him. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

TCM, here's the bummer. I actually made a small Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons out of little plastic indians. They were pretty cool. This was probably 25-30 years ago. I had them stored in the same box I had that little Cylon. I have no idea what happened to it. [img]frown.gif[/img]

Jor, just the opposite for me, I had one, but was missing the Cylon, but had the missiles. Now I have a non-firing one, with no Cylon, and a complete firing one.
