Most online sites have the same tabs, and unfortunately, most of them are incorrect.

Thanks to everyone who replied so far. I do have the live at the roxy book. Like someone else said there are some incorrect tabs, which is frustrating. I think a new thread of tabs that are 99 - 100% correct would be fun. Anyone up for it??
more than 90% of the tabs you can find are incorrect, one way to get some better ones is the 'live at the roxy' songbook but it's also not perfect. Here some wrong power chords there not the mention that all the time open chords are played or a wrong solo.
One easy way to the right ones is to watch alot of SocialD vids LesPaulPlayer would say to train your hearing and your guitar playing
But I think we could start a small chord+tab collection of the songs which aren't played at the roxy in 1998 and are not to find in the roxy songbook. With some discuss of each tab it would be possible to find nearly the correct ones.
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">haha, very true. Most Social D songs can be figured out by ear with enough practice though. I actually posted a few tabs on this board, but I just don't have the time anymore. Grading my students' papers and other classroom prepwork just seems to consume me these days. But I am always happy to help when I can.Quote:

I do think it would be cool if we could get something like that going here, though. It would be a lot better than the crap tabs you see posted on the net that are horribly wrong.
Allright, any prefered songs for the start, Guitar Gangster?
How about Highway 101???????
Highway 101,
both Guitars: Capo 2nd fret (zero tab means 2nd fret), tune down 1/2 step
Mike plays the rhythm and chorus part:
start: rhythm*:
------------ )----------------------------
------------ )----------------------------

-(22)-slide-- )-7(4x)-sl.>--4(3x)-2--sl.>-7
-(22)-slide-- )-7(4x)-sl.>--4(3x)-2--sl.>-7
-(22)-slide-- )-5(4x)-0----2(3x)-0--0---5
* I haven't noted the correct strums , it's played with release of the powerchords 4 (4x) and 3 (3x) times; listen to the song to play it right.
Chorus:
cmaj7******************D**********E
-0--------------------------3------------0
-0--------------------------2------------0
-0------------4-------------3------------1
-2------------4-------------0------------2
-3------------2--------------------------2
-0------------2--------------------------0
Boulevards... falling rain. I believe.. joys..
after the chorus slide back to the 775 powerchord
The intro, the outro, the licks and the solo Jonny plays are more difficult, but also old fashioned social d style, maybe lespaulplayer can help .. or we've to wait for a good video from a person who doesn't think that jumping Mike plays it.

Thanks Rock n Roll Outlaw....Can Anyone help with the intro especially???

repeat this pattern for the intro.
For the verse play

-0x00x0-0x000-222-4x44
--------------000-2x22 and just repeat the basic strumming pattern.
For the chorus, play

-22--44-77-99----22
-22--44-77-99 or 22
-00--22-55-77----00
--------------------
you can either slide up to the 799 at the end of that progression or go back down to 022. the 022 is just an octave lower. just a different voicing of the same chord.
remember, these are all in relation to the capo on the 2nd fret.
I'd tab out the solo, but to be honest, I don't know it completely and it would take me forever to do. plus, i think I play it a bit different than 2bags.

Thank you Lespaulplayer, it sounds good
What should be the next one?
no problem, man. I have a pretty awesome sounding version of the solo that I've been playing around with, but i'm not really up to the challenge of tabbing that out.
Winners and Losers?????
I'll see what I can do. Not enough time right now though.
Capo 2nd fret, tune down 1/2 step
D,Am,Em,G
But I am shure you also want the solo parts..

any ideas on company c?
No ideas atm, sorry.
But I've still my own wanted list :
-Dear Lover (the correct chords except the intro)
-Through these eyes
Does anyone have the chords for Lude boy?
I can see it's a simple progression
G#,A for the verse, then B, A, G# for the chorus (key may not be right)
However, I can't quite make out the chords themselves. They don't sound like major chords...like they are diminished or something.
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers
Dave
Lude Boy
tune down 1/2step, no capo
Except the solo, these are powerchords only:
--------
--------
--------
-4-5-4-5
-4-5-4-5
-2-3-2-3
chorus part:
-------
-------
-8-4-3-
-8-4-3-
-6-6-5-
-6-6-5-
or maybe without change this one:
-------
-------
-------
-8-4-3-
-8-4-3-
-6-6-5-
Thanks for posting the tab.
Gave it 1st try last night with the band, they like it. We may record it next Friday.
Cheers
Dave
I tabbed dear lover out a little while ago, it's played half a step down, with a capo on the 2nd fret. Or play it on a regular guitar with one on the first fret. However the solo is tabbed on a guitar in standard tuning, not relative to the capo. So be wary if you're tuned half a step down.
Well, I reckon it's pretty accurate. And quite long because i added the words in.
Oh, I'm new here, hello!

Welcome to the board and
thank you for this sam.
The intro rhythm is correct, the solo is great maybe some parts are missing but compared to the album, I don't like the verse/chorus part. There's a guitar pro file out there with the intro solo and this rhythm which isn't correct tabbed but sounds more correct:
---------------
---------------
-10-13-5-6-8-6-
-10-13-3-6-8-6-
-8--11-3-4-6-4-
---------------
Welcome to the board, Sam!
Thanks for the contribution- that gives me something new to butcher and sing off-key...
Nice tab. I've been wanting to play Dear Lover for a while now.
Does anyone have a halfway decent tab for footprints on my ceiling? specifically the lead parts during the verse and chorus, the rest I could probably work out. It is sucha beautiful song.
mhmm tune down 1/2 step, capo 2nd fret
----------
-------2--
-1-4---2--
-2-4-4-2-2
-2-2-4---2
-----2---0
Mike strums slow and Jonny plays the single notes of the chords different, I think that's the way to play it, try it like this maybe you'll find the right way :
--------------------
--------------------
----2------4--------
--2---2---4------4--
-1-------2-----4--4-
--------------2-----....
I'll try to work out the other parts
If you fellas wanna know how to play a Social Distorion song, you may wanna try askin somebody who has played guitar in a Social Distortion tribute band.
No success, there's the solo and some very small variations which Jonny plays. What I noted is the chorus and also the intro. It's not impossible to work out the solo...
I could need some help with 'Untitled',
all I know is this part:
------
------
*-----
*-3-2-
*-3-2-
--1---
one other used chord is for shure Am but what's the sequence and what is missing?
*=powerchord somewhere near 5th fret
I also could need a small part of I can't run no more to complete the song, there's a very short part (2nd fret) after this before the intro/solo part:
-3-
-3-
---
---
---
-3-
Untitled, I had a quick look at. I tabbed the verse. Pretty sure its right. The intro and chorus are very similar, but no palm muting on the c and the g (listen to the song).

wolfpits, I'm pretty shure you know how to play Dear lover. If you think you could help, please do it
Sam, I tried it without success, most of the stuff are regular chords mixed up with maybe 2 or 3 powerchords. Em, maybe Fm or Fmaj are a part of it.
Yeah, just ignore the last post I made, It was wrong (my guitar is tuned to standard tuning, and when i wrote it out for half a step down, I did it wrong, It will have sounded atrocious). Sorry.
But anyway, Untitled is in C#major. The chords are C#, G# and A#m (some are A#m7, listen and you'll hear them) for both the verse and the intro.
I'm not totally sure about the chorus. Or the chords under the solo. But there will likely be F# there somewhere (it'll be major, not minor).
Hopefully thats slightly more helpful than my previous post. Apologies again.

The part I was looking for is this easy one:
Dear Lover..
Capo 2nd fret..
--------
--------
-----5-7
-2---5-7
-2-2-3-5
-0-3-3-5
I think there's now a chance to get the correct solo now..
It would be great to have this vid on DVD because they played also Pleasure Seeker, maybe the gotta know the rules solo is visible and also the untitled one.
Ok, I see a lot of of confusion about Dear Lover so here it is solo and all:
Tune down 1/2 step and capo on 2.
Intro: Em, C, G, D
At the end of intro chord progression do this:
E-22h33-200-0
B-33-33-333-0
G-22-22-222-x
D-----------2
A-----------2
E-----------0
Then: Em, G, C, D
Use either open chords or power chords. I find that open chords work better for the intro, while power chords sound a little more focused during the verse and choruses.
Verse: Em, G, C, D
Chorus: Em, C, G, D
Solo:
E---------------------------
B---------------------------
G----------------------------77
D-----------------------7h9-77
A-7-9h10----7h9/10-10~------
E--------7h8----------------
E----------------------------------
B----------------------------------
G-7h9-9-7-99-777-99-77-7---------77
D-------7-99-777-99-77-7-7h9-9-9-77
A----------------------------------
E----------------------------------
E-/7777-7-7/10-10\7-7-7-7-------------------------
B--------------------------10-10-10/12-12-10-10\8/10
G-------------------------------------------------
D-------------------------------------------------
A-------------------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------------------
E------------------------------
B------------------------------
G--------------------------------7
D---------------------------7h9-7
A-7-9h10-----7h9/10-10~-10-----
E--------7h8-------------------
Repeat the two chord progressions at the end where needed.
Hope this is of some help for all y'all struggling with this song.

when we played our social D stuff, it was always in standard tuning and always in a key that we were comfortable with. Usually a half step or sometimes a whole step off how Social D plays it. It was not a matter of being correct or not, it was a matter of playing it in a comfortable key. When we played Dear Lover, it was in Standard tuning and went like this...F#, D, A, E. I always played the F# at the 2nd fret for the Verses, and I played the F# up at the 9th fret for the Choruses in order to have a different timbre and to change it up.
The solos were always improvised.
Guys, make these songs your own instead of copying them note for note. Your guitar playing will improve 10 fold and you will enjoy it so much better.
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">fo' real. I couldn't agree more. But no harm in helping a fellow board member out.Quote:

But I get The end of one song and the beginning of another. Dear Lover just happened to come out right. I even tried ripping it as a whole then manually setting the chapters, burning it and re-ripping it but that didn't work either??

if you want to learn how to play the solo from Dear Lover, watch this video from the hollywood palladium and you can see Mike pretty clearly when the solo comes up. thats how you learn.
