Hubby and I were thrilled to have Marks's photos as a guide to our restoration. And now they've gone **POOF**
I don't suppose anyone happened to save anything? His safety sys schematic, perhaps? (pleasepleaseplease)
Enough of MY selfishness. I just hope that all is well with Mark, his wife and the baby to be.

My vote goes to him compiling info into some sort of booklet and selling it.Just my humble opinion.
I also contacted Mark offlist, and he replied and told me pretty much the same thing he told Lori.
I hope he returns -- I really enjoyed reading his escapades and having the occasional interaction (in addition to soaking up the info for my own pending restoration).

some of the info is still in the public domain -- if you search google for the relevant pages, and click on "Cached," you can still find some of the original posts.
caveat, though -- just some of the posts are left in cached documents. The oh-so-valuable pictures are not, unfortunately. Bummer. I do hope he reposts them.

I e-mailed him and asked him if I had offended him in any way. He replied that no one had offended him, but that it was a decision he chose make.
My guess is that, with a baby on the way, the house repairs, his job, AND the restoration of his CHAMBERS, he felt he wasn't spending as much time as he ought with his wife and child-to-be. Wishing that I had spent more time with my family, I understand fully if that's his reasoning.
Personally, I will miss him greatly.
Why would someone delete all their posts and exit membership just because they want to spend more time with family? That just does not make sense to me.
I would not be surprised to see an alternative Chambers site be born.
I wish he had not closed the door (especially without goodbye!) I think of you as friends and I appreciated his input.
(I feel like I am at a funeral -LOL)

Well, gang, I had asked Mark if he would compile all his safety-system into a document, with pictures, that I could post on the Convention site for ourselves and future 'Board members. If he does, I'll let you all know. It would be terrific to preserve all that hard-earned knowledge.
A decision he chose to make, Why?????
More time with the family would explain why he had not posted anything in a while.
I'd like to think different, but he must have some "lowracer" motive to explain deleting all of his info and postings from this board and from his flicker site.
Is it asking to much for him to explain?
I would just like to know.
Anyway, I re-read the 5 pages of the "Do it yourself safety system". I think stoveman posted enough pictures and information while answering Lowracer's questions, that most on this board, including myself, should be able to build their own safety system.

I have reviewed some of our threads and now many of them don't make sense as critical stuff is now deleted. I don't like that - it is one thing to dismatle your own thread - but to remove the underpinnings of a whole system?
I don't get it.....Does this mean that if I Un-Subscribe to this host board, all my messages will be deleted or do the messages have to be purposely deleted?

How does one delete their postings? I tried to delete one of mine and found that only the moderator or an administrator could do this. Todd, did you help lowracer with this?

Please don't unsubscribe. We need your help on this safety as much as ever. I will be beginning my own detailed step by step restore. I will document and post picture for everyone. I see no reason to keep re-inventing the wheel. I think that was the purpose of this site in the first place. Be patient, I live in Chicago, and I am waiting for the wheather to get a little warmer before beginning.
Sam, thanks again for your expert advice. I can understand if you feel used, but we would be lost without your help. It will not be long before all of the experts in this field will be gone.

I'm not going anywhere. I'm a crusty old F A R T and you can't hurt my feelings. We all are here because we enjoy these stoves and the frends that we make here on this board. I enjoy sharing my experiences and if I ever leave, I D A M N sure won't take my messages with me!

No I did NOT help him. I had the Board setup where one could not delete ones' own messages without my approval, BUT I didn't forsee someone doing what he did - he deleted all of the TEXT in his posts manually by himself. Had to have taken a LOT of time.
It's setup now where no one can edit OR delete their posts without my approval.
Learn as you go, I guess...
Well, I guess we all got the lowracer "neerner, neerner"! It's a shame, I really felt that we all were in this together for the greater good of our stoves and some good comraderie.

As you said Todd, we live and learn. Is there anyway to keep the photos from being zapped - especially on the restoration board?
Seems like some THING (or maybe more than one) must have happened to make Mark do this. What is such a shame is that the entire board and future boardees will suffer because he removed his valuable comments and photos.
Too bad for our Chambers family, but we will carry on!

I got another e-mail from him. He's stressed to the max, IMHO, especially since he can't get the leaks in his CHAMBERS fixed.
I replied and begged him to let me come over and help him (Wichita is not terribly far from me), but he hasn't replied yet. I hope he will...
Let me know when you need to fix a photo, & I'll help you out.
After I get over the shock of all of this, I'll probably change it back to the way it was.
I was able to get the first three pages of the Chambers oven safety system from Google cached pages, but all of his photos are gone for good. I saved the html pages on my work computer today.

I don't know why I'm posting this, maybe because the rest of us could use this.
I had thought about his leaks when I was re-reading the "do it yourself" Oven Safety Valve System.
Uncertain had mentioned several times not to use the original pilot to T - Off the pilot for the Oven Saftey. As Sam had warned, something about age and fragility, the pilot lines could become leaky or break.
I'm betting that this is loweracer's problem. That said, he needs to trace his oven pilot line for leaks. I believe that his wife didn't smell the gas until he used the oven to make a pizza, which would explain the need to trace the pilot from the oven.
Just a guess, Sam maybe you could comment here.

Wow, I just got back from vacation and was catching up on everything. This is really stinky. I haven't been posting that much lately, but I've always felt this board is "all for one, one for all".
To give the benefit of the doubt I hope all is well with his wife and baby and we won't see directions for a safety system for sale on ebay!

I'm out of town and swamped with work so notvpaying much attention to the board but jeeeeeeeez...this is a real shocker. Mark seemed like a high integrety guy...and I would believe the removal of all of his work was something terribly out of character for him, unless: he was assaulted by Aliens who used a Chambers Probe on him and erased a portion of his memory, or, he sold the the rights to his story and Keeanu Reeves is the lead in the Lifestory of LOWRACER, Man With a Chambers Range, of course, Witchita could have closed and he's still trying to get out or, perhaps, he really isn't Mark Lowracer....and the governement witness relocation protection plan wore through and he's on the lam, again. Just thoughts.

I agree with Todd on the stressed. Stress causes us to make rash decisions at times. But, I have found that a trip to check the Lighthouse calms me down. I hope Mark can find a Lighthouse in his life.
I didn't get the feeling that he left out of any malicious motive. I just hope we see him back on soon. Enjoyed seeing him, and as he's only a couple of hours away from me, I actually figured we'd cross paths eventually. (I also thought his blog where he chronicled the work on the house was inspirational, as I'm hoping to have my own old house to work on sometime this year, and say bye bye to renting forever)
Anyhow, all the best to him, and let's continue to document our own efforts.
