http://drunkj.net/storyofmylife.mp3
I have better a better quality copy of the song....
Are those shows at the Echo acoustic?
Yah, I heard they were going to be acoustic.
As somebody who has never seen them, that is both super cool and really dissapointing.
Could anyone else hear the band? I just heard the crowd singing along--but hey, I can't blame them, its tough not to sing along to "Story of My Life"
Yeah, the quality kinds sucks....but it was a very energetic bunch, made for a very fun time. Im going back again the 28th, when their there with the Mercy Killers.
Yeah it was great to see them, I caught the last show at the Live Freaky Die Freaky premiere, with a whole 75 people in the crowd....now that was amazing.
I have a copy of that show im not supposed to let get out....but I suppose I could just leak the Story of my life cover (on audio). Its pretty badass, Ill post it later tonight.
But as for trades for the echo show, its not great quality, so Ill pretty much trade about anything I dont have for it. Whatcha got?
Here ya guys go, this is rancid singing Good Riddence/story of my life Medley.
Enjoy

(PS. lay off the greenday jokes or I pull it)

great cover of story of my life. they did it good but as far as green day goes they could burn in hell(python help me get them there) green day ruined what used to be punk rock
I want that show?
Wow the echo is a tiny place. Woulda been real nice to see
What do you want to trade?
Who covers the Green Day song, sounds like a Pirate?
That's the one and only Matt Freeman!
Matt is the man but he dont need to be wasting his time with any shitty ass green day song
Green day ruined punk rock?
Yeah, Id have to agree with that to a certain point....but they really didnt do anything that other bands haddnt done.....they just happened to get popular for it.
I mean, if you mean they ruined it as far as the sound (pop punk) there are a ton of other bands that sound damn close to them, and are much older (screeching weasel, buzzcocks, etc.) so they really didnt invent the sound, they just ran with it.
If you mean they ruined it by making it popular, there have been a ton of punk bands that were on major labels before them, they just never caught on to a large crowd since the late 70's. Don't forget, the "holy trinity" of punk rock (clash, the pistols, and the ramones) was on majors their entire career.
I like Greenday, im not a huge fan, Im just sick of every little kid I meet knocking on Greenday when bands like that got them into punk rock.
yea i know what ya mean but it wasnt bands like them that got me into punk it was a band by the name of social distortion
Acoustic Rancid huh? Yeah, they're done. Game over. I didn't think it was possible to get any lower than putting Kelly Osbourne in one of their videos, but I guess wonders never cease.
yea it is kinda sad to see rancid playing acoustic lets hope they got something else up theirsleeves i would hate to lose rancid all together
Ive never seen Rancid play acoustic live, but I enjoyed seeing the acoustic songs on the Give'em the Boot DVD. These shows at the Echo are showcases for Hellcat Records bands. I think it is cool of Rancid to play these at all, they are helping lesser known bands get exposure, plus tickets if you could get them were only 7 bucks. That makes Rancid pretty cool to me.
Yeah, how dare they play a guitar thats not plugged in.
Fuckin sell-outs.
Ah, now I remember why I quit posting on internet boards. Because most punks are the most narrow minded hypocrites in music.
Fuck this, see ya.
Don't leave us Josh! You are one one of the good ones around here! (And I think there are many more good people than bad) Thank you for the links to the songs. I enjoyed them and appreciate it.

Didn't I strike Matt Freeman with lung cancer?
This is one time Im perfectly comfortable saying FUCK YOU GOD! he just had a lung infection and he and his family are fine.
Chill out everyone. I was at the echo show earlier this week, and they were plugged in and high energy.
Sure, closed minded... Love that one. Sitting around "da crib" playin "Domino" with Shamu Osbounre on the "If I Fall Back Down" video.
If "Indestructable" wasn't a celebration of mediocrity, I don't know what is. 4 words for ya:
Rats in the Hallway...enough said.

I personally rather enjoy Indestructible. I think there's something to be said for being unafraid to grow regardless of the potential backlash and I love that none of their albums sound anything like the one before it.
The one song I've heard the most shit talked about is <u>Arrested In Shanghai</u> and that's one of my all-time favorites. Talk about not doing what's expected of you... There's just such a sense of vulnerability that comes out through the whole album; Tim just seems more human than ever.
I will admit the first few times I heard it I didn't quite know what to make of it.
I have to agree with ya Pain, I do like Indestructable. I find myself listening to it alot, I think it's because I'm a huge fan of Matt Freeman's bass playing. The production is alot more polished than other Rancid records, and it sounds like they put alot of time and effort into it. Unlike The Transplants, which I do kinda like, but they sound like they write everything right before they record.
I liked the musicianship and production of The Transplants, but as hard as I tried I could never like that Skinhead Rob guy.
He shoulda stuck to carrying Davey Havok's purse...
Haaaaa!!!! That is f*%#ING FUNNY!
Is that Matt Freeman that sings the second half of the "Good Ridenance/ Story Of My Life" medley? It does not sound like him. The "Good Rid" song sounds like Matt and the Social D. part sounds like someone else. I'm soo glad that Matt Freeman is not in Social Distortion anymore. A great bass player he is indeed, but the poor guy cannot sing! I heard that that is what bothered Mike Ness the most. He had problems harmonizing with Ness and Wickersham. Cheers to Brent Harding for being the best bassist Social Distortion has ever had!!
I'll raise my coffee mug to that, Cole. I gotta agree with you yet again about Harding being the best of the bassists. Matt Freeman is a madman, a genius and simply the greatest punk rock bass player ever, but that was definately the last thing Social D needed. So, yes, Cheers indeed!
If my memory serves me, Lars sang "Story..."
I went back to give it another listen but it was gone (replaced by hilarity!), but, yeah, if the vocals of a Rancid song are neither slurred nor grunted it's definately Lars doing the singing.
I really think Lars is a good singer and a pretty good player as well. I really prefer the Rancid tunes where he sings. Tim Armstrong sounds better on certain songs. Occasionally it sounds like he chugged a big gulp of Turkey and someone threw him a mike. Otherside was a pretty good song from Indestructible.
Thanks Pain and others for continuing the intelligent conversation on this topic! I think everyone deserves the right to speak there mind, and I hope my outburst was taken as toward the person that calls themself "god" on this message board, and not the God that others on here hold dear.
Here a clip with Rancid doing Billy Bragg-To Have and To Have Not,whos the Billy fan In rancid.Lars?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrYtS...=billy%20bragg
They mention Billy Bragg in that song The Wars End
Where Johnny's dad smashes his Billy Bragg lectures because he didnt want him to hear that communist lecture.
I know that lars and his band does the song in the clip too.im going to see billy the 25th.yippie
Not to be a dick, but it was kinda buggin me...
It's Little Sammy (The War's End).
The Bastards did "To Have And To Have Not" on their first album and it was niiice.
I've got a version of Rancid doing it in Nottingham circa 2003 and it's about the same.
