I am thinking about purchasing one of the historical dolls' trunks in the near future, and I just wanted to see what people thought was the best trunk for storing a lot of outfits/accessories in and was easy to use/store stuff in/etc. I really loved Felicity's retired Clothes Press, but there is NO way I am getting that since I've only seen them on Ebay for a lot of $$$. Any thoughts?

I love Samantha's trunk. I holds a lot, but not many outfits. The drawers are nice for everything else though.
I also have Addy's, but haven't unpacked it for my DGD. I prefer hanging storage myself, but Addy's trunk is just beautiful! I want them all!
I wish I had all the trunks so I could compare them, LOL! I just bought Sam's trunk for my DD's birthday last week. I also have the yellow flower armoire and a knock off trunk from e-Bay that runs about $75.
I love the look of the old Felicity Clothes Press, too. I also considered buying the new Felicity clothes press, but I didn't like the storage possibilities with it. I would never store the dolls inside the trunk. That makes no sense, and I couldn't figure out if the pegs would good for hanging up clothes on hangers.
The problem with the yellow flower armoire is that you can't hang long dresses because it isn't tall enough. There are pictures of the inside in my albums.
Sam's trunk is extremely well made and heavy. It is quite a bit bigger than the knock off trunk even though in pictures they look like they would be about the same size. You can store a lot of shoes and accessories in the drawers of Sam's trunk. The main reason I like Sam's and Molly's is because of the ability to hang dresses on the hangers and the drawers. They are both good for storage and organization.
The only trunk I have is Kirsten's (I got it in a Kirsten lot on eBay), but I have to say that my most favorite trunk, from what I have seen, is Addy's. It would be my first choice -- I really hope to get it some day!
Yeah, I love all the girls' trunks, but I think Sam's or Molly's are definitely the most functional, but oh, how I wish I could get Felicity's old Clothes Press, too! I really don't like that new 2 doll clothes press. It doesn't seem very functional (for my uses anyway). Plus, I have a TON of stuff for both Sam and Molly, so that makes sense to get one of their trunks. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Does anyone here actually have Felicity's new clothes press? It has 2 hooks inside and I wondered if they can really hold two rows of dresses like it seems they should. Any reviews are appreciated, although I know it will be ages before I can afford that! [img]smile.gif[/img]
I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who had Felicity's new clothes press as well. But man, Ria totally has me SOLD on Kit's trunk now!! Aaaaaah I am so confused!!! (But happy -- more stuff to save up for . . . and maybe I will just get two trunks since I have so much stuff . . muahahaha.)

There is someone on the board that has the new Felicity Clothes Press. I remember seeing a review not too long ago. If you do a search I'm sure you'll be able to find the thread.
Sam and Molly's trunks are great, and of course Felicity's original clothing press is wonderful, but for maximum storage I really prefer Josefina's, Addy's, Kirsten's, and Kit's chests/trunks. Of all of them, Kit's is my favorite. I love the look of it and its drawers make organization a lot easier.
I'm another who would like to hear from anyone who has Felicity's new wardrobe and who is using it for clothing storage. How's that working out?
I posted a thread like this a couple of weeks ago when I was considering buying either Felicity's new Clothes Press (old one is way out of my price range) or Sam's Trunk or another knock off. There was only one member who responded that they bought the new clothes press. I will try to do a search for that thread later.
From what I remember, she bought it mainly to complete her Felicity collection. She said that is was darker wood that matched Felicity's table beautifully compared to the older version which is slightly lighter in color. She thought the old version was better for storage.
I looked on e-Bay and some sellers were selling the new clothes press and had their own pictures of it's interior. The pegs looked rather short. I thought I would have to modify it to get the storage I wanted. I may get it one day, but I decided to buy Sam's for now. I just want to see Felicity's in person at American Girl Place before buying it. I also have a small hope that AG will revise the interior of the new clothes press to make it more functional.
It was me who had the new Felicity Press. Actually I just put it up on Ebay today. I think it looks gorgeous, especially with Felicity's other furniture items, I just felt it was not functional enought to use for my girls to play with. They are still young and I bought them old hard cases in Goodwill to store their dolls stuff in for the moment.
It did hold about four dresses on the pegs and you could fit plenty in the toile boxes that come with it, but I decided against keeping it. It would probably do well for an adult collector.
I have Felicity's old clothes press, from before it retired (who knew?), and that's the only one I have, but I've always admired all the others. I think that the ones I've admired the most are Sam's and Josefina's.

There are two dividers inside that separate the bottom section into three compartments, and the bed fits perfectly on top of that. I haven't tried to put a doll in too, but I'm sure there would be room to lay a doll on the bed and still have the top fit on.
I've got a bunch of trunks (Sam, Felicity's original clothes press, Addy, purple AGOT locker, Josefina, Kit), but I think I have to say Addy's is my favorite. It definitely puts up with all the abuse I've given it over the years and holds EVERYTHING I have for Addy. Which is a lot. I like Sam's trunk, too, but with so many outfits for her (and she was sharing it with Nellie) I don't think it's big enough (my parents' friend does woodwork and made a gorgeous pine trunk for me for Christmas, and I've moved Nellie and Elizabeth's stuff into it). I'm determined to get Kirsten's trunk this spring (before I buy Jess) so I can move her stuff out of a plastic box. Glad to hear people like Kirsten's trunk, too.
My mom and I bought a huge Kirsten lot as well. It included a number of her outfits, her bed, and Kirsten. It arrived wrapped in a TON of bubblewrap and peanuts, everything stored in the trunk.
The bed does fit on top of everything perfectly with Kirsten laying on the bed, the trunk closes fine. Sadly, the post office ended up screwing us over trunk wise. The lid was splintered during shipping. And it was pm with the little PC plaque on it.
Post office paid us 200$ because of it. Yay for us though--We recently won a PERFECT MINT pm Kirsten trunk on ebay with the money for only 158$. Not much more than a new mattel one, and in just as good condition.
I reccomend if you end up looking at ebay to make sure your seller wraps it up very well--ours should never have broken the way it was wrapped, but it did anyway.

I've seen the new F trunk at AGPC and I thought it was practically useless. "if" you did hang up some of the dresses on those very short pegs, then you would not be able to use the toile boxes, because the dress would hang down to far. Or, I guess you could squish them in front of the dresses.
I splurged at was able to get F's clothes press after ebay selling in early December. It was still a lot, but not as bad as I've seen before. It was a splurge for sure though, the year before I did the same Christmas ebay selling and was able to get Josefina's piano the same way.
Anyway, I really like the original clothes press. It is huge and very, very heavy.
We also have Kit's and Josefina's trunks. I will definitely plan on getting Kirsten's and Addy's one of these days, but I just don't think the stand up kind for Samantha or Molly hold enough storage wise, so I won't bother with those. Last year at Madison, they had both Sam's and Molly's for $100 and I passed on them then, but that was where I got Kit's and Josefina's.

I don't have any trunks, but if I was to get one, I'd get one of the ones that is the horizontal style. I don't hang my clothes so it seems that Molly or Sam's wouldn't work too well for me- I don't even keep the hangers. I also would not get Felicity's. I think Addy or Kirsten's are the prettiest and Kit's sure looks like it will hold everything!
Does Kaya have some sort of storage? I can't recall.
We only own Kit's trunk, but it is awesome for storage. It holds all of her items and more plus it's really pretty. I've seen all of the trunks in person and think the drawers in Kit's trunk are the best for organization.
