I was debating on whether or not to send my Addy to AGH for a new head because her hair is in thinning/knotty condition. Even after a downy dunk it is still unmanageable.
Now, I know I have to rewig her. She has the artist's signature on her neck!

Could you just ask AG for a new wig?
They might do it because it's a special situation
I had not thought of that. I have a wig on its way, but if it doesn't work out, I may have to try CS after all.
I hope the new wig works out!

If that's what you meant, I'm pretty sure MOST Addys have that. My 2004 Addy has it and so does my 2006 AGT26.
I would just send her to the doll hospital even though she has an artist mark, but that's just me. I'm not one of those people who LOVE PM dolls....I don't really care when the doll is made. Mattel Addies are very pretty...I just got one in October!
Here's a wacky idea:
Take the dolls head off, send her to the hospital, and when she comes home with a new head/ wig take that off. Then you can put on the old head, and then add the new wig to the old head.

Isn't it the 148/16 marking the most desirable for Addy?

I'm pretty sure that AG won't send a new wig--they have a policy against selling any doll parts. However, they have returned original parts when people have had replacements.
You can have the head replaced, and ask for the old head back; but to be safe, I'd just send in the body, and ask for a new head. But that's just me.
Or you could try a non-AG wig from a doll-supply site. I hear you can get very nice ones for much less than a trip to the AG hospital.
Good luck with your Addy!
I bought a really lovely black wig with bangs for $17.00 plus shipping. Not a bad deal.
My Addy doesn't have the e#. It has letters, and one of them is an e, but there isn't a number.
Either way, from the seller, I know she was between 10-12 years old. Even if she was borderline mattel, she still has that nice squeezable vinyl. Her coloring is absolutely gorgeous.
I think it's more economical to just rewig her, and I am not all that for the textured hair at any rate. It's difficult for me to play with. So, Addy is becoming Carstan for sure!
Whoa, will they send you a new wig?
