Thought you should know

On the other AG message board there was a link to a Molly book review. Very poorly written unresearched review, but they also review the Life of Faith dolls and other Christian works (They are not that kind to those works either). Thought I would pass this link along to the Molly review and the Life of faith review. Maybe you guys can start a discussion on it.Molly review

Wow! I never saw those problems with Elsie or Molly... I still don't really see any problems. Yes, the Elsie books can be quite confusing to children...especially since they seem to be so anti-Catholic and stuff. (I speak not of the LOF series books but the original series.) Catholics and Protestants are all Christians and Elsie and her family don't seem to get that. Still, for someone my age who is old enough to understand that not everything you read in a book is correct, I think the books are ok. I'm not sure whether or not I would want my children to read them if I were to ever have children. But I think most of this is overreacting.

As to Molly... I was very interested in the comment made in the review that Molly was not a Christian. Where do they get that? Can anyone tell me? It's been a while since I read the Molly books, so maybe I'm missing something. Though I do think this is another simple case of overreacting. All children misbehave from time to time and all Christians sin. Just because you sin does not mean you are not a Christian.

This group isn't all bad and wrong, though. They are Christians, and though they may be overreacting they are doing what they think is right. I really like the Bible memory pins (you can find these under products). Remind me of Girl Scout badges, only for memorizing the Bible.

Anyway... What do you all think?

I think they gather the idea that she is not Christian by only reading the first book. If they read the Christmas story it does say that she and her family attend their church service. But they seem to indicate they have a problem with Halloween as well. Some of their other book reviews mention their dislike for Catholics (read J.R.R Tolkeins review).

I thought the review was way off base! Christian children don't eat their vegetables and fight with their siblings too! Since Molly eventually eats the turnips and makes up with Ricky, I don't see the issue.

I wonder what that site would think of ?The Awakening? By Kate Chopin! That is something I would really like to see. I can just envisage it now???.Even though it isn?t really a childrens book.

I'm siding with the Pope on this one...if the child understands the different between reality and fantasy letting them read things like Harry Potter will do no harm.

I was MareGathersWords for at least four years, but then a stalker incident made me have to go under a new name, and honestly I never found one that "fit" right.
