Tattooed Love Boys

...I'm guessing that I'm not the only one of the board who was into this band...Bleeding Heart And Needle Marks was never far from my stereo, and everyone at my school used to take the piss out of me for liking the 'Tattooed Lovely Boys'...I saw them live (I think in '89) when they were supported by Vamp...Garry bought me a drink before the show and I remember his perfume being quite overwhelming (!) Marc Ama Chan was in the band at this time, and I'd been in touch with hm for months by phone, so it was great to finally meet him...Everyone now seems to list Tattooed Love Boys as one of the worst bands ever! ...I think they were a lot of fun, some great catchy songs, and lovely guys with it..oh, and great perfume, too !

Yeah, I loved TLB. But once they added that Bassist "Dean" something or other, they really went downhill.

You know, I only stumbled across this message board by chance yesterday - and to see stuff about bands I loved back in the late eighties like Gunfire dance, Gin Sling, Tattooed Love Boys, Tigertailz, Soho Roses etc is just brilliant and makes me wanna go and find all their records again!..I have such brillliant memories of these bands....I remember seeing Dogs D'amour at the Astoria (1990?) with the Black Crowes supporting...me and my friends were queing up very early outside the venue and drinking vast quantities of Thunderbird wine - come the time to enter the venue we were all suitably trashed - my best mate was denied entry into the venue - I managed to get in (god knows how as I was totally trashed) - After the gig I was looking for my mate, and a security guard came over to me and told me that he was just around the corner sitting in a rubbish bin (!) - and there he was, totally off his face, two cowboy boots sticking out of this dustbin!!! Aaah, the memories I have of my encounters with Thunderbird wine!

Going back to the TLB's - does anyone know what happened to Marc? I'd loved to get in touch with him... And whats happened to Mick, Garry, Dariyus and Adam?

MMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm TLB's .. no comment really, was what seems like a lifetime ago .. thank God ! .. But your right about one thing, the smell of Garrys Hippy Piss/Petulia Oil still haunts me even today !! Way, WAY TOO MUCH .. lol

Hey thanks for that dude! Sorry i got you mixed up with Mick.. Sounds like you had fun in the TLB's..Not!! I heard that Mick was pretty difficult to work with.... I just want to get hold of the first TLB records and some of the early uk sleaze/glam stuff for a bit of a laugh and a trip down memory lane...!

Ok, I just checked out Steevi Jaimz' Tigertailz myspace page - but I can't really say that they 'rock' or that its 'killer' - the chorus sounds like Magnum!! From what I've heard, Pepsi's Tigertailz rock a lot more..but still nothing like as good as Young and Crazy and Bezerk....

I don't know if a poll would be all that great of an idea. Mr. Sleazy would just show up, proclaim Steevi's version the greatest thing ever, and Kim and company a bunch of (fill in the blank with any number of not so nice things) and that they should just pck it up, and then plug his Claws Of Sin site about 100 times. Not that I would know from seeing it happen a million times before or anything. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Hey Suicide, give us a little more about yourself. Just so you don't have to hide behind nostalgia, almost everybody here still loves the music, old and new, but we all admit to also having grown a more varied taste. I still thrive on my idea of Glam and Trash, but I am also a Rockabilly fanatic, and a huge fan of the Delta Blues, Be-Bop Jazz, and the old Big Bands of the 30's and 40's, along with crooners such as Bing Crosby. I'm a rabid Andrews Sisters fan, also. I love Celtic Folk also.

But there is no reason to be ashamed of still loving the old tunes, and finding many of the new bands great. It's still a great style of music, and it ages better than most styles. Stuff like Jet and Silverhead sounds better today than stuff by KC And The Sunshine Band!

Hey dont get me wrong dude, it was a craic, great times .. wouldnt change a dam minute of it .. methinks something of more substance for me tho now..lol

Thunderbird was definately THE drink....Yeah, Red was best, but I remember downing quite a bit of the blue, too! That and JD, of course...and Newcastle Brown Ale..There was a really cool off-license just down the road from the Astoria in Old Compton Street , on the corner opposite 'The Village' gay bar- I think it's still there...and it's got hand-written prices and descriptions on every bottle in there - that was where me and my mates used to stock up, even though we were all well underage...I liked the way that with Thunderbird wine I could drink abolutely loads of it and get totally trashed, but still know exactly what I was doing - controlling my body, however, was a completely different story - I was all over the fucking place!!!

Truely a great great band! I love their records!

Thanks Carl...The glam/sleaze years still have a very special place in my heart..and as much as my friends take the piss out of me for liking such music, I really dont care! My favourites at the time were The Quireboys, Dogs D'amour, Tattooed Love Boys, Tigertailz, Gunfire Dance...then for US bands I was into Faster Pussycat, Vain, Poison, Cinderella..I'm on a mission now to recreate some of my record collection of old (I sold all my records years ago!) What I'm listening to now is totally different: I was totally into the shoegaze thing of the early nineties - Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Ride were particular favourites. Sonic Youth, weren't far from my stereo. I was into that for quite a few years...but over the last couple of years I've been listening to Sigur Ros, Mojave 3, Tindersticks, Serge Gainsbourg, Scott Walker, Antony and the Johnsons, Belle And Sebastian...but as I said, I've always had a thing for the 'glam' thing so I did purchase CD's by Quireboys, Dogs D'Amour, Faster Pussycat, Cinderella and Poison over the last few years...I really want to find demos and singles and stuff from the likes of Gunfire Dance, Soho Roses, Rich Rags,. Red Dogs - the sleazier side of the scene...If anyone can help it would be so appreciated!

And then the bomb landed .. he said RicH Rags .. right thats it im fookin off before it all starts, all over again !.. lol

Well Suicide, you found the right board for all that stuff. Drop into the "Listening Booth" and make a post, or make a whole new topic of the stuff you are looking for and wait for it to hit in the "Booth". Paul Blittz from Soho Roses is a regular poster here, as is are the knuckleheads from Rich Rags. Plus, between everybody here, if there is something "rare" you are looking for, it won't be "rare" for too long. There is no greater resource for patching your collection than this board.

I may have some of those lost records for your collection I have a stash of about 400 or so I grabbed from a closing used record store in the washington dc area....some are still sealed and all are mint...drop me a PM as to what you are into bur I do have most of the US side or your list faster pussycat etc...even some colored vinyl rarites...

A:- Garry was an still is a hairdresser ! he runs Legends a hair salon in Essex somewhere .. always was a bit of a tart .. heart was in the right place, but a typical "Air-head" rock vocalist .. a "Himbo" if you will .. still, always got the girl did Garry, so good on him i guess.

I have to agree, he is a great guy...I met him just the once - we were hanging out with the band before one of their shows - he was really friendly,bought us all drinks and made sure that everyone was having a good time...Did you know Marc? If anyone can put me in touch with him I'd be so grateful!

Suffice to say I met Marc a few times at J.S.E studio's in London Circa 92 when the No time for Nursery Rhymes album was being recorded, he was leaving the Tatts and i was just joining .. sorry, no idea where he's at at the mo.

It was just before i formed my first band and me and my mate saw Garry outside the Royal George.I went up and thought i'd have a chat, so my opening line to him (as he was being chatted up by a couple of girls) was, "allo mate, you used to be a hairdresser didn't you? Then, because i was so pissed i let go of my pint....smash...all over his feet. If looks could kill.....LOL.
Great band though, and approachable too.....
Just a shame that CJ left, joined up with Ginger and stole all of Rich Rags' ideas...still...that's just my point of view....Rich Rags Ruled...They made me want to pick up a guitar and i thank them for that.

It might come as a shock to the system but Marc Ama Chan became a policeman in Newcastle.

Its a few years since I've spoke to him but I think he's still a plod.

A few years ago I got pulled over up there & managed to blag my way out of bother by giving the copper loads of dirt on Marc!

Back on the TLBs, I've heard nothing of Garry & Mick for years, but Darayus is in Ace & Steevi's version of Tigertailz (and no, I don't give a hoot about who's version is better).

All I know is that the 6 tracks from their new album I've heard so far blew me away!
Its gonna be tremendous.
