YouTube - Bakersfield
Here's the one recorded at Red Rocks. I love when he looks up at the sky, it was such a beautiful night.
Bigtime thanks for the link. I'll check it out when I'm home, as these damn work computers shut me out of eBay, youtube....all the fun stuff. Guess I might as well do some work if I can't screw around on the computer all day. The nerve of my employers!
I love that! I hope they play it on friday!!!
first time ive heard that tune im very impressed
Great song--thanks again for the link.
am i the only one who thinks this is the most boring social d song ever? sounds more like something for his solo stuff to me...

Hey, thanks for the link....but a guy at work last year got caught bypassing the blocking system and got shitcanned. Dumbass used to stay all hours of the night pounding a few out to free porn clips. We are still awaiting the arrival of a Hazardous Waste team to come and remove his keyboard.
As for Bakersfield being one of their worst songs, I have to vote for "Untitled," which I hear they are--regrettably--playing sometimes on this tour. Sounds like a piss-break song to me!
On the other hand, did they really play "Sometimes I Do" in Cleveland? That's a classic I haven't heard them play live since that tour. AWESOME.
Bakersfield will never be my favorite Social D song, but it is good live and works well with the set. Nice to break up the tempo and let Mike do a little story telling. I love the "What would Buck Owens do" part as well.

I think as with all things, the songs will mean something different to everyone. When I first heard untitled, I didn't think much of it at all. I probably would have ranked it low on my personal list, but once a few things happened in my life that played true in the song, I related to it a lot more and thus began to see the beauty of it. I personally really enjoy Bakersfield, because it means something to me, and also because it adds a lot of variety to the show. It can't all be loud and rough... or you begin to loss the meaning of it. Placing Bakersfield in the set list not only adds more feeling to the concert, but it also makes the loud songs seem even more extreme.
I'd like to hear another recording of this, maybe you talented East Coasters could get one for us.
I seem to remember reading something about when Mike wrote this song and it having something to do with touring with Eddie Spaghetti? Does anyone else remember an article like that, because I can't find it now, nor do I remember where I saw it?
