Danny McGough!!!!!

My buddy And I Have Been Talking About This For Some Time Now So I Think It's Time To Bring This Up. Danny McGough, What Else Can I Say, This Dude Is Fuckin' Awsome. It's Time He Becomes An Offical Member Of Social Distortion!!! Come On The Guy Is Treated Like A Fuckin Roadie Or Something. I Love Social D (They Are My Favorite Band), But They Would Not Be The Social D That They Are Today Without Danny. Danny Needs Some Credit For The Things He Does. Does Anybody Agree With Me On This? I Think He Is A Made Man And Should Be Part Of The Social Distortion Mafia. I Fuckin Love You Danny And Hopefully You Will Get The Credit You Deserve. I Mean On The Next Social D Album He Needs To Be Credited As Part Of The Band And Not Some Guest Who Plays B3. There Is 5 Members Of Social D.

i agree

Don't get me wrong...but all i know of Danny Mcgough is that he plays the B3 for social distortion, and i really dig the spin that he has put on Prison bound, and some of the other "redone" tunes.

But what else has he provided or brought to the table that should make me want to give him major credit.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but i'm also not going to agree with you because you "said So"..

I'm uninformed on Danny so explain what he's done for the band, and what he's brought to the table that suggests he Is more than a roadie who also happens to play the B3.

I don't know. I think all the guys fill in well at their respective position, but I think Jonny has really filled the toughest role and deserves the most credit simply because of the emotion of losing a friend, and sticking with his style, yet incorporating dennis' style to keep it social d, and not cad tramps/us bombs..etc.. I think he's the most underappreciated. mike obviously is the band as far as songwriting/singing.

The rest are cashing in due to the hard work they put in before social D, and are now just livin the dream.....I think thats reward enough. It would be for me.

ok, well in my opinion he contributes so much to the band musically that his contribution live has created an entirely new sound and feel of the music... which i love. plus the guy played with tom waits previous to joining social d, and anyone who has even been near tom waits is pretty rad in my book.

Although I am biased all anyone would have to do is see them live or just listen to footprints on my ceiling to hear how he has added to the social d sound

Thanks Terk... I'm the "friend" that Terk was reffering too about Danny McGough being an official member of Social Distortion. And all I got to say is that Social Distortion would not be the same now without him. He has added so much to their sound now the band realizes that they can no long go back to before without him. The bands live shows have improved to 100% since he joined. BTW, Raptorchild - you new school little fuck - if you cannot see what Danny has brought to this band then you need a lesson in rock and roll music. If Chuck Berry has a piano/organ player than Social Fuckin' Distortion can do whatever they want!!!!!

I agree he should be apart of the band,he brings so much to the table, but im sure mike leaves that up to him if he wants in or not,i mean the man played with Tom Waits witch means he can play with anyone he wants.and he played in a shitload of other bands.

having spoken with J2B, i can assure you that he is also helping with the songwriting credits. it also says so on the SLRNR albums, but he told me a few weeks ago that he's working on new material and re-working older stuff for the next record.

danny mcgough is a great guy and a lot of fun. he always goes out to meet with fans after the show and is appreciative of what he's earned. he's an incredible musician, and he's added more than just a prison bound intro. he helps out with the acoustic stuff by backing up on his accordian (which he bought at a thrift store for those of you who might be interested). he can play a wide variety of instruments and can create a dynamic sound that otherwise would not be reached were he not a part of the band.

"He has added so much to their sound now the band realizes that they can no long go back to before without him."

Glenn76, isn't that pretty arrogant to presume that you know what the band "realizes" and then turn around and call somebody names because they disagree and are willing to debate you.

This is just silly! Nice to have a Danny McGough appreciation thread, he is a great musician, but what does it matter if he is "in the band"? Everyone at this point brings a solid musical background and much talent to the group, and they all have other projects as well. Maybe Danny doesn't want to be "in the band". He most likely gets other offers and has musical interests outside of Social D. Sure make him a band member if it means he gets paid more, but that's none of our business. These are grown men. It's not like the "band members" have a secret handshake or a clubhouse that Danny isn't invited to. The current line up is great, but nothing lasts forever. I don't think being called a band member would change anything. It's just semantics. What's important is that we appreciate his contribution to the band, I definately do.

Ive always wondered why hes not an "official" member of the band. Im sure there is a reason. It would be an interesting question to ask him.

I think his contribution to the band is just as significant as any other member besides Mike. Without him the modern day Social D lineup wouldnt sound a whole lot different than any other.

I hope he sticks around permanently because he adds a unique wrinkle that Social D has never had before.

i'm actually really surprised that is even a question. i mean the guy gets up there every night and plays throughout the show along with the rest of the band. i don't know where anyone would get "roadie" from.

I hate to be a troll but did the OP just capitalize EVERY word in that post??? Dear God please make it stop...

I also think he's a NEW SCHOOL LITTLE FUCK.IF THIS PERSON WANTS TO COME AND KNOCK MEMBERS OF THE BAND,CALLING DANNY A ROADIE..UNCALLED FOR!!!JESUS,DANNY WAS PLAYING AND MAKING MUSIC WHEN YOU WERE STILL SHITTING MUSTARD.

Wow Did I Start Some Shit? Damn You All Have Alot To Say. Who Was Saying Danny Was A Roadie? I Wrote That He Was Treated Like One. Look Just About Everyone Of Us On Here Is Fuckin Die Hard About Social D, But Let's Face It There Is Alot Of People Who Never Even Heard Of sxdx.com That Are Fans. I'm Just Sick Of Going To Shows And People Are Like Who Is This Guy. I Just Want To Knock Those Motherfuckers Out.

In 2006 I Was At The Show In San Antonio. I got There Hours Early To Hear Them Sound Check And Everything. Well There Was This Other Kid There With His SLNR&R LP And An Electric Guitar. He's Telling Me I Live And Breath Social D And Blah, Blah, Blah. Little Fucker Knew Nothing About The Band At All! Stupid Ass Thought Brent Was Matt Freeman. There Are So Many Wannabe's It's Unreal.

I'm Just Saying That I Would Love To Read A Magazine That Has Something To Say About Danny An Interview Or Something. He Is The 5th Member In Social Distortion. Like The Ap Picture Where The Fuck Is Danny. I Want A Real Group Picture. By The Way The Lady That Took That Pic Is A Fuckin Yuppie Ass Bitch! Yeah You Can Go Buy A 8x10 Photo For $75. She Says It's Her Art. Don't Get Me Wrong Nice Picture But The Only Art I See In It Is Social Distortion!!

On topic, I think Danny's contributions to the band are incredible. He adds a more evolved sound to the band's music. I hope he stays.

Socialfukind/Glenn76: A good thread was started by terk exclaiming Danny needs more CRED.....OK thats great but terk didnt really say why, nor did the 2nd poster. I have admitted i have not followed Danny Mcgough at all and am unaware of his contributions other than what i've seen live in the "redone" tunes. I was not literal in my opinion that he's a roadie who also plays B3 but that i wanted to know WHY i should give him props and respect his work, since i know nothing. Since i don't just follow like Sheep, I'd like to know WHY?

Any decent B3 player could come in a lay some background work and change social D's sound...It simply wouldnt take much for any true musician. So i want to know what makes this guy special. EDUCATE ME!!!!!!!! i'm asking for it!!!!!!!

And guess what? Most people who are educated and can read at a 3rd grade or better level turned the thread into just that....a nice thread with some good info. untill you jackasses went on a personal tirade. its cool though. I've never once read your guys' posts and figured you guys were any kind of analytical thinkers, so its cool

As for me being "new"....yeah, compared to some...I'm a newbie only 27 years old, and have only been listening to SD for about 12 years.

I'm not 47 years old and i didnt see Mike in 1981...sorry.

Geekgirl....I'm sorry but You are truly close to the band, and therefore have no need to be on this site. This is a fan site, and you certainly have every right to be here and it does benefit the posters who do frequent the site, but it just looks pathetic. If Brent were my brother...i wouldnt be any where near this place. I wouldnt need to .... and if i were near here, i wouldnt take anything seriously or personal....It would make me look weak, just like it makes you look weak. If you are going to be here, take your biased opinions and your hands that you sit on and shove em.

Wow this got bad quick. I dont know geekgirl personally, but i was a huge fan before my uncle started playing with Social D whos to say she wasn't. Does that mean I shouldn't be here, because of a family member? Ive never asked my uncle whether he cared if he was a member or not. I know he likes what he does no matter what his position is or who hes playing with.

Jesus, look at this monster thread that we started here really over nothing..... This needs to stop right here. Raptorchild, I want you to know that I apologize for the manner in which I spoke to you in my last comment. I know that it was uncalled for and there was no need for that. In geekgirlxx's defense anyone here has the right to post or read this message board regaurdless of their connection to this band. You were out of line on that one. Hopefully we will see more "friendly" posts now because of this...

I'm a little late to the fight, but I personally like the late 90's SxDx the best before Dan or whoever joined, they had a harder sound, but I'm just a consumer what do I know, all bands need to evolve sometime I guess and this is the way Mike wanted to take it...

All in all sorry if it's rude and most of you wont agree with my point of view, but Mike could drop the whole rhythm section and find new musicians tomorrow and I'd still go to the shows.

Most people are there to see Mike I know I am... but again I'm just a consumer what do I know?

Well you know that you like Social D the way it was, not the way it is. Nothing at all wrong with that. A lot of punk rock fans like their music a little more "raw" sounding. I personally think that Social D is at their greatest right now, from a musical and performance standpoint. But I can definitely see where people may have an issue with a keyboard, piano, or B3 working its way into the mix. That's where the whole subjectivity of music comes in...some people love it, some people wish it would die a horrible fiery death.

On a side note, though not unrelated, I think J2B has seriously spiced up the rhythm and lead guitar sections ever since his joining. I personally think that all the new members, like J2B, have had nothing but a positive impact on the overall sound of the band.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">Right on the money I agree 100%.

Social D had some organ in the mix in the early days. Back in the early 80s Chaz Ramirez would play organ once in a while.

Sorry for my drunk post..

this thread is so punk rock I love how Terk is like lets all get along happy new year and then fuck you all you fucks i'm out!

LMAO

somewhere in the posting someone said "i go to the shows to see Mike Ness." I think a lot of people are just like you, but i really enjoy all the musicians. there are times when i'll just watch brent, j2b or charlie for 2-3 songs and focus on their playing, their guitars/ drum set, etc. danny mcgough is fun to watch also, but he's so far in the back that it's hard to see sometimes. for example, j2b tends to be shy in person, but when you watch him on stage, he's full of energy and his personality really shows through.

at any rate, they are a full-on band and not a "one man band". i encourage you to watch the others--they are all very talented and do some funny little moves while playing the songs.
