I see ya buddy!
Merry Christmas!
................... and that's a MERRY CHRISTMAS and Happy Holidays to everyone on the Altec User's Board.
You folks not familiar with this format are gonna like it once you get used to it, it's feature packed!
Holy Moley!
When was the Altec User's Board created?
Using the "show threads" feature, i selected "from the beginning" and "ascending" order and it took me to what i think is one of the very first posts made in December of '02.
Now we have what appears to be a fast, reliable, and extensive archive of posts.
Thank You to those responsible for this tremendous upgrade!
Hello fellow Altec fans! Merry Christmas.
This new format is a shock!......gonna be strange not having the green backround.
Russ
Green would be good...
Merry Christmas everyone
BTW, Can anybody find their way to the board without clicking on the last reply?
Merry Christmas Everybody!!
Just replace your old bookmark with this URLQuote:

:D
That did it, Thanks
I dunno...whoever runs this place behind the scenes is an amatuer and I'm dumbfounded why Todd won't get his a s s and this forum somewhere more hip and stable linked to a unique domain.
Merry Christmas all and happy New Year!!!!
Couldn't reply while I was at work earlier.
This setup kinda remind me of the diyaudio and audiokarma forums.
I dig the bit where we can add pics to our library.
But at the upper right of our posts where it shows where we are from ,,, what the heck is "rep power"?
LIke the option of letting it speak out the posts,,lol.......
Take care all.......

Seems like some stuff got deleted in some threads... The'' 604 final after back and forth thread'' had 4-6 more posts than where its ended at now and same with the Have to sell some Altec stuff thread? Oh well, nice to have this back online, the green was nice though :)
Dave:)
Dunno, I joined 12.26.02, but for some reason I'm thinking it was just a re-joining due to an 'upgrade' to Infopop UBB.
Fast? This upgrade so far is slower loading for me than the previous one. :( Not mention it took me over two hours  of being waltzed around with a so-called bad ID and PW combined with dead links plus a new 'bad' ID and two new PWs before it allowed me to 're-join' using my original ID and change my PW back to the original. I hope it's all just due to them still fiddling with it in the background.
For sure I much prefer this format over the old one.
Anyway, after almost four years I'm no longer Altec 'free' thanks to some very generous forum members, with Lynyrd Skynyrd tuning up 'Free Bird' in the living room, Guns n' Roses waiting in the wings :D and the noise police banging on the door , so Merry Christmas and all that jive  to one and all!

My password wasn't recognized, then once I changed it to one that got me logged on it said I was banned, but here I am. It's confusing.

I'm taking a wait and see approach on that. I had a tough time getting here. First I could only get to the homepage. Then I was able to navigate a bit, but couldn't log in. Then I used the forgot username/password feature, even though I had the correct information. Hostboard replied with my username, but then the link provided wouldn't work to get a new password. This all took place after this thread was started, so it wasn't like I was early to the party.
i guess im one of those that fears change..but still glad to be here and in time to say merry christmas to everyone. it seems way slower to load and harder to navigate..took along time to get in. i sure am glad to see those that did get back in..would be nice in green tho
That "speak" feature is a riot..... She's got an accent...... I bet she's hot :-)
Anybody find their name displayed is now their actual login username? Mine never was before this.
I like my new avatar, I was tired of my old one..... it never looked right. It was supposed to be an A7, but looked more like the 110 cabinet that GM was using for awhile. Now I'm using the picture form the color brochure for the 9864A....... Bill's Engine.
Happy holidays and good sound for 2009.
Stéphane
Here's wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Mike
Now that's some REALLY good news!!
Best Wishes to all you guys. (Later today) I'll raise a glass to all my good friends near and far. May your rocks be polished and your rolls get buttered! :Big smile:
(Now to figure out what these new (emot)icons are all about...
:Sheep squirt::Trauma:
Wow. It is all new here now.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
Hi folks,
Just got on myself - kind of confusing, I admit.
I'm looking into getting our logo and green background back - will try to accomplish that later tonight or tomorrow. It's pretty cumbersome to change it.
Merry Christmas!
- Todd
Wow , that sheep squirting blood,, that is a perverse emoticon.........
Hope all had a great x-mas....
Wife surprised with a first edition, hardback copy of the hard to find Dune Encyclopedia.
Only thing missing was the outer sleeve, other than that , great condition. Been looking for one for years and she was somehow receptive, never did say a thing about it.
Wish all a happy new year....
-chris
How did you access the old post?
Cheers, Marshall.
I'm unhappy with several things about it -
For one, the ability to customize it to "our" color scheme is NOT easy - it's VERY cumbersome and will take a lot of tweaking to get right (there's no WYSIWYG ability, so you have to guess at what you're getting when you mess with something.
Secondly, it won't let me upload a custom logo for the forum.
Third, it won't let me put things where I want them - for example: I would very much like to put the listing of who is online up above the posts, but, so far, I haven't been able to figure out how.
It's also not carrying over the encoding of the forum title from the main page to the post pages - if you look at the top of this page, you can see the code in the text...
There's more, but I don't want to rant...
I operate another forum on ProBoards, and they're not much better...
Still debating on how to changeover to our own operation - I can get the server space, but am wondering what forum software to use. The other problem is importing all of the posts here into a new venue.
Any suggestions?
You may just have to re-enter it. My tag line showed the html (or whatever) instead of executing it. I retyped it as I wanted it to appear and it now works.
I have an issue with the owner on something in the control panel that he doesn't seem to get, but it's something that once you know about it isn't an issue...... maybe if he gets more question over time on it, he'll understand what I'm talking about.
I notice that as I'm previewing this post, the forum title appears correctly, but after I send the post it does not. On our main page it appears correctly for me.
Hostboard currently has 2 known issues:
1. Censored words does not seem to work in the control panel.
2. Access for Moderators to the control panel needs to be implemented.
First on the hit list after we resolve the known bugs is to re-visit is the stupid CSS system and making it easier to customize. This is going to take alot of programming and decided that we needed to move foward with the migration first.
Outside of that we are watching server loads and how the new site is reacting and continual tweaking of the settings to optimize performance.
Outside of that there was little in terms of assistance when we asked for beta testers so we got very little feedback and 2 of us tested almost everything. With well over 1 million posts and close to 200,000 users there was alot to sort out and test against.
The new system will allow us to once again look to the future as a platform that is not antiquated and out dated and allow alot more done in terms of abilities. Unfortunaly there are growing pains and there are only 2 of us to handle the Hostboard community.
I welcome anyone that has an issue, comment, problem to please post it in the help desk asea so we can address it. The help desk is a new area that will allow us to not only track and resolve issue but allow us to have a sort of knowledge base to refer back on.
Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday!
Forgot to add, if you beleive you are missing posts please let mw know ASAP so we can do a comparison against the 2 databases and make sure everything transfered.
Thanx
Hello Steven,
Since you seem you are in the know,
What is the rep power?
Not really worried about it, just a curiosity.
Thanks,
-chris
Steven is one of Hostboard's owners - guess our discussion caught his attention.
so far it is really slow to load, and from review of past posts..are all our old links now in html format, do we need to cut and paste? just from the few i looked at, i wanted to see if micheals horns reached the 10,000 dollar mark...
Seems to be working well for a new version.
One thing I have noticed is that the direct links placed in posts are missing.
I had troubles a couple days ago, but all seems well from my seat !
Thanks guys for providing and maintaining this place.
Have fun!
Willie
I finally worked thru my User CP issues, but like A_b_G, timeouts are frustrating. Lost 2 new posts so far to that. Guess I'll start writing in notepad, then cut & paste real quick.
I noticed some images that require login to view. That's a pain for someone like me that tries to watch his cookie intake...
Added:
I just browsed back thru several old posts to check if the documents or pictures I'd linked to were carried over. Sad to say, most weren't. Only the examples where I posted the actual html string are still there, but even those are no longer active links, and one must carefully select the text string for browser pasting, as there is nothing that distinguishes the string from the remaining text, not even so much as a space... :(
It looks like anything we entered using the old html "buttons" is gone. I suppose I could redo all the links to stuff I've hosted, the rest could be a real PITA. Bummer...:(
On the positive side, either the pesky Intellitext is gone, or our workaround hack still works. Having a WYSIWYG editor and the ability to delete posts is cool too.
