If You Could Meet
If you could meet someone that you see on TV, and say a few words to them, who would it be and what would you say?
Easy one for me: AMW's John Walsh
I would tell him how much i respected his strength and conviction, how he turned his horrible personal tragedy into a mission that has captured hundreds of pieces of garbage. He is the ultimate example of making something wonderful happen out of a terrible circumstance.

Re: If You Could Meet
The crew of Extreme Home Makeover.
They do some fantastic things for fantastic people.
What would I say to them? "How does it feel?"

Re: If You Could Meet
Well as far as meeting some one from tv that I admire what they do I would have to say.....
Montel Williams, he is an inspiration to those of us that have MS, I admire him and hope that I can acheive some of the things in life that he has.
Now beyond the admiration comes a little of lust I guess, Adrian Paul from Highlander would also be someone, but in my defense lol, he does have a charity group that he is very active with called PEACE, and has recently been doing things like selling Highlander stuff to raise money for the Tsunami victims as well as families of those in Iraq. We will not get into what I would like to say to him lol.

Re: If You Could Meet
I understand Montel is an advocate of medical-use marijuana.
I can't say I disagree with him, seeing the pain some MS patients endure (that no other medicine will relieve).

Re: If You Could Meet
Don't do Mary Jane, but alcohol is a heckuva lot worse. Pot isn't a loaded weapon on the road.
-
Re: If You Could Meet
Montel, good ol Montel, they tried to arrest him, until he pulled out his script for pot.
Never had to smoke any for mine, will make sure I have a script if I do lol

Re: If You Could Meet
good point unchained...my main complaint with the government is the whole health care issue. As much as I hate to say this I wish we were more like Canada, health care for everyone. Plus if I am not mistaken most public colleges are free in cananda too?

Re: If You Could Meet
Solution for nationwide healthcare coverage in the United States: one flat tax .17 on the dollar. Would you all be willing to pay that? I would in a heartbeat.
-
Re: If You Could Meet
Just have to wonder how the system would be abused by the laziest of Americans...
But I suppose, all in all, I would also do it.
-
Re: If You Could Meet
Show me a system without flaws, that cannot be abused. Let's see: How is our welfare system working out? (just an example) See any abuse? I can see where the potential for abuse would occur even with the flat tax plan. When Fast was running for pres, he introduced the .17 flat tax plan, complete with facts and figures of feasibility. I found it interesting.

Re: If You Could Meet
In reguards to Moonlight's comments about us being more like Canada concerning health care, I worked in a doctor's office (until about 2 weeks ago), one of my doc's is from Canada. It seems that because everyone there is insured -it is very hard to get any type of elective surgery scheduled unless you have a seconday insurance that will pay. Of course emergency surgeries are done, but if you need a shoulder scope, knee arthroscopy-somethin like that-- then it's very hard - You could be on a waiting list for up to 6 months. My doc said that is the one reason he came to the US to practice. He said, he has performed more surgeries here in the States than he could have in years if he stayed in Canada.
Back to the topic ... if I could meet some one famous it would prob be 'ol Elvis. OH but wait, that could happen for me if I just knew which Burger King he was workin at.

My boyfriend Scott's mother has MS. She never knows how she'll feel the next day. One day she is fine, and the next she can't get out of bed

how about disability. That thing is abused so much and I HATE IT when someone just lazies around when they could be working and US working folk pay them.
How about a system that doesn't help a working family? I work with a family, both parents work full time and they just scrape by. Can they get food stamps? no, they "make too much". can they get any other assistance? No, they "Make Too Much" but they don't make enogh to get by on and have money left over to enjoy life. When my wife and I had our baby we were looking at the WIC program but guess what, we make too much money to get any assistance but we barley make it by paycheck to paycheck with every other freaking bill.
But if you are not working then you get everything. One person I work with was told that if you quit work you would get this, this and this and be making more money than they are now. That really get's under my skin that a working person get's zip, nada, nothing while someone able to work sits on their lazy but and collects. I see people that have to buy like $800 of junk per month to keep their "benefits" because they can't have it in a checking account or they will lose them. What is that about? they spend the money on vidoe games, movies, music and so on and as long as they have less than a certain amount WE pay for everything they need. any medical stuff, any essential things are provided.
Our system may be the best in the world but it is time for a major tweeking.
don't get me wrong, I know the need is there. My mom is an example. she is no longer able to work and it is legit but I also feel the system is being abused and I hope they get caught, all of them.

Re: If You Could Meet
I agree starbuck...One thing that would help out alot is if the government would stop people from abusing their programs...I understand alot of people need these but alot also abuse them tremendously...Social Security might not be in such jeopardy if it wasn't abused so bad.
Back to the person I would love to meet it would be Martina McBride

Re: If You Could Meet
Bill O' Reilley. I'd love to ask this guy some questions. I support the nationwide healthcare system and the legalization of marijuana to everyone. Pot is no worse than other drugs that are legal in this country today.

Re: If You Could Meet
Do athletes count? If so, I would like to met Emmitt Smith. Because he is my favorite player of all time. Growing up I wanted to be like him haha.
-
Re: If You Could Meet
Agreed shoe.
He was definitely one of my favorites as well, but i'd ask him how he mangaed to play in that one playoff game with a dislocated shoulder i believe it was in 94 against the giants. Help me out if i'm wrong.
-
Re: If You Could Meet
I beleive you are right man. I think he hurt his shoulder in the first half, but stayed in there. I think the game was for a playoff spot or something like that. I know game was important, but I could be wrong.

Re: If You Could Meet
i think everybody personally knows someone who abuses "the system". It is a shame to see someone who gets a month worth of percocets lay around on their butts until huntin season then there out in the woods everyday and gettin paid for it!!
It will take atleast 15 more years until pot stands a chance of ever being legal. There is alot of negative propaganda being spread by the extreme right winged gov officals, and alot of people don't know the facts. Those goverment websites and commercials they are running are just trying to scare kids as opposed to educate them, and neither one of them is working. I really think the FDA is affraid to make any official statements on it. But lets just think, if America legaled grass, sold it, with all the income there is a good chance we could have a "free medical" system for all, well it would certainly help (i'm sorry if i sound like a broken record, I just think the health insurance premiums in this country is a joke and to deny someone who needs help is flat out evil). If I was governor I would just make it like alcohol, where you arent allowed to have it in public and you can't drive and do it. With the legalization of marijuana look at not only the projected income from everybody from Dave Chappelle to Willie Nelson but look how much the government would save in the justice system. With all the arrests, indictments, imprisonments, etc.
But back to the topic I'd want to meet Dr. Huckstable so he could explain to me the proper methods of eating Jello Pudding. We could wear matching sweaters.

Re: If You Could Meet
You call yourself a Cowboy fan Dallasfan71? I'm the biggest Redskins fan there is and I know that the game you're referring to where Emmitt got hurt was NOT a playoff game. It was a regular season game, for the NFC East Championship. Gosh dude, get your facts straight...letting a Redskins fan out do you on Cowboy triva? If so, Billy Graham.

Re: If You Could Meet
A friend of mine in Baltimore knows Serg and was going to have him stay at his house for a weekend. He asked me if I wanted to come hang out and play b-ball with them for the weekend. It was too short notice for me to go though. Would have been weird to say the least.
