The Contender

anyone else watching this??? i love it!

I was disapointed in the final fight. Did Peter even throw one punch? He just wrapped up the whole time. I'd rather see dancing than that...

i wish he wouldve won...i didnt like the dude taunting his father...i wanted him to knock him out on the spot!

I know....I was rooting for Peter too. But I really wanted Jesse to win the whole thing at the beginning. He was my fav.

I usually watch it but havent the last few times. can someone please update me on it??

Tonight Jesse and Alfonso fought for 3rd place and $200,000. It was a pretty even fight until the very end and Jesse just didn't have anything left.

Peter and Sergio were in the championship. Sergio won. I thought the fight was pretty boring. Peter kept wrapping up. So lots of close body shots through out the fight, Sergio got a few clear jabs at the end though once Peter wore down.

I was hoping Manfredo would win it.

Did they reveal which one committed suicide? i had heard that after someone was eliminated they unfortunately took their life. was that true at all? was it najai? or did he die from something else?

It showed it after the episode where he was eliminated. I cant think of his name but he was the black guy, they didnt say why he did it but they just said they were having a fun raiser to help his daughter and family.

i guess it was najai then, i just didnt know if he had actually killed himself

Wished Peter could have knocked out that cocky Sergio. I really believe Peter is a better boxer, he just made Sergio look good IMO. I hope there is a rematch and Peter wins. I hope there is another Contender coming up.

Sorry man, the Contender has been cancelled by NBC. Another network might pick it up but I doubt it they will do another one. Lets hope they do though.

Only thing I wish is, if they do another show. They move up the weight class, 160 is middleweight. None of these guys on this show will ever be great at 160. Winky Wright, Tito Trinidad, Oscar, Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor, and Jeff Lacy absolutely destroy all of these guys. I mean its no contest. Years from now it will still be no contest. Middleweight is a strong divison. They need to do a Contender for 175 which is Light Heavyweight, where there is just a few good boxers left Tarver and Johnson. That way, at least the Contender has a shot to be well...a contender... if he wins the show.

yeah, i read that the other day, the network ratings are down so they're cancelling alot of shows to try and get higher ratings..
too bad my man jesse couldn't win this one...
