Three in a row, what can I say. Best game all year by PV scoreboard was much closer than the game PV was stopped twice inside the GC 20 one of which was on a fumble that lead to 7 of GC's 14 points. Great game guys win out and get the self proclaimed greatest football program in the world at our house so we can beat em again. I think that argument just lost it's luster guys I hope I dont hear that again. Final Score Teenage Boys 17 Adult Men/Transfers 14. Wasn't this the year that GC was supposed to crush us? Haha, this is great this almost makes me as happy as last year. Great City haha. Good luck beating Burton Great City maybe you can get yourself a trip to Honaker. haha This post makes no sense I know I'm just writing stuff as it comes to mind.

Congrats to the Vikes, I knew this one would be a close game, they always are! I hope the Devils can learn from this and move on, the season does not end after one game. It's always tough to play at Bullitt Park, and the Vikes defense seems to be good as usual! Just hope we get another shot at the Vikes in the playoffs. The better team won tonight, Congratulations!

I'm sure many people were skeptical of Gate City even before the game. With many key injuries, bad luck in the past games (surrendering FAR too many points to Lee High), and overall just not playing as well as the Gate City teams in the previous years, I'm honestly not surprised.

Gate City played pretty badly tonight; as did Powell Valley. But hey, Powell Valley got a few good passes in here and there and a few good turnovers here and there and that helped them come out on top with 3 points.

I doubt Powell Valley will get very far in the playoffs, though. From what I saw tonight, it was no playoff-quality-team.

It would be 15-years in a row. Pv didn't make the playoffs in '91!

Good football game. Gate City had no passing game tonight and P.V. played the run really well. They were some changes tonight on P.V. O-line and D-line. that made P.V. a lot better football team. Good job P.V. I believe these two will play again this year.

Guys, it's not insulting GC to say they played nearly perfect last week versus Cwood and most GC people were more than honest saying it was by far the best they played all year. You can't go anywhere but down when you play that game and maybe the Devils got a bit to high from that, and believed that PV would roll over. PV is a tough team, no matter what and though I thought GC would win, that's the type of team you can't overlook at all, and turnovers/penalties can kill you. If GC had as many turnovers as was said, then they battled hard as well. Impressive job Vikings.

I give all the credit in the world to the PV defense.

They stepped it up, almost totally shut down the LPD's top rusher, Parks, and I think GC only completed 1? pass.

They completed two for little to no gain.

I don't think anyone from Gate City in their right mind would believe Powell Valley would roll over for anyone, especially Gate City on homecoming at Bullitt Park.

I gave my prediction as 27-7. Granted i was going on what i had seen the previous week. That wasn't the same team tonight. I for one wouldnt ever think the Vikes would lie down. They won straight up, i would love to get another shot at them. Could be the same result, maybe not.

Gate City players? There's a little bit of difference between players and people that participate on this board I do believe. Anyhow, I'm not sure I seen a statement from any GC poster that made the comment or said anything that could have been mistaken for such either. Most if not all know the history of the GC-PV rivalry. Like I said earlier in a post this week, you can throw the records out the window when these two face each other.

Personally I think you go out of your way (for whatever reason) to attempt to put words in people's mouth as well as speculate on people's views and attitudes when it comes to Gate City fans on this board. No offense, just an opinion.

I probably shouldn't speak on Toby's behalf, but I'd say he may have went by the hospital after the game due to a medical emergency that took place with a very good friend of his this morning.

Jager, I don't think I said GC players, but I know this, if you hear it all week, you tend to believe it. With as vocal as the GC fans are, I'm sure that plenty of the players heard how PV beat them twice last year, both 'questionable' (previous years discussions the basis of the word questionable) and that this was the time for GC to show them. Heck, I thought they would. I predicted GC by 14, so I'm as much wrong about that as anybody. As for putting words, nope, don't have to. Like I said there are some very good Gate City posters on this forum, some who are extremely classy, extremely knowledgeable and who have always been very honest about things, good or bad. Then there are some others who, well haven't (taking the high road). We're all human, supporting teams of high school kids (be they 13-19) or whatever the range is, we all have our great kids who wouldn't do a thing wrong for the world, we all have our kids who are well the opposite end of the spectrum. Sometimes we have more good than bad, sometimes it appears we have more bad than good. Some kids you can straighten out, some take any attempt to straighten them up and it makes them worse. You want an honest view, and no offense intended? The biggest problem is a handful of Gate City posters or fans, who love to read/post good about Gate City and have no problem posting questionable stuff about others, but when someone says something about them, it turns into the quest to make fun of, discredit or question anything they do/say. What personally bothers me more is those Gate City posters who have proven to be pretty good people, call a spade a spade, admit good or admit bad, tend to seem afraid to post those opinions on the general board, normally relying on private messages to discuss the bad, and from what some said, because they know if they say anything bad, they get trashed worse than some of us from other places do, because we're Wave, Vikings or whomever, and they are Blue Devils, they shouldn't do that.

Any game I see, I'll try to find something good to say about each team. I'll probably have something bad to say about a team as well, because thus far, I have yet to see an area that a team doesn't need to work on, because so far I haven't seen a perfect team. Sometimes you pick on small things because a team does well, and thats all you can pick on. I picked on Gate City about the attitude last week, after talking how good Parks played, how much Castle battled, how their lines domainated the play, how their defense hit so hard, etc, Several good things said, but I did complain about that, and will continue to, even if we do it. I'm as Green Wave as it gets, but like tonight, Clintwood was able to get a lot of players in the game, give a lot of experience to some kids. Probably was a bit to conservative, but that was probably score and weather related. I think we committed to many penalties, most of them mental, maybe that was due to overlooking Wise a bit, maybe due to the weather somewhat, I don't know why.

Anyhow, enough writing time for bed.

Yes I went to the game Burrhead...I'm not one to run and hide from anyone or anything...Yes it's a sad situation about Quincy's brother and I think of this guy as my own brother as well.

I think this tells me all I need to know about this burrhead character. Probably pretty much sums it up for anyone else with half a brain as well.

If he spent 2 and a half hours at the game, well I may have half a brain, but you can read what I'm saying. As for Quincy, I was out of line not knowing the situation. When people said Tob was at the game, I just wondered what happened to him.

It shocked me that Pv won. I thought Gate City would have won. So I guess it is like a back and forth thing going on.

Wow!!! Statistics aint important. Now let me see. Hmmm Gate City got 104 yards rushing and Powell Valley piled up 173. And look Gate City managed a single yard passing to Powell Valley's 121!!! Hmmm, according to my limited math skills that would give Gate City a total of 105 yards for the game compared to Powell Valley's 294. Wow!!! From reading the write-ups in the papers, I'd say the 5-6 turnovers they committed played a bigger part in the loss for Gate City than anything. It's hard to obtain rushing yardage or offensive stats when you give up the ball to the opposing team that frequently.

what about that quinton jones? he's only a freshman and hes a beast! is he a starter?

The biggest reason we(GC) lost was because PV just flat out played us on both sides of the ball!

The simple truth is GC had 4 first downs and barely oner 100 yards of offense. That DOES NOT win games.

Yes, the turnovers did hurt. But not as much as the DEFENSE. PV had a few turnovers also. One of those turned a scoring opportunity into a 1 yard TD drive for GC. A lot of teams would have just folded after that. PV did show a lot of heart. I'm not knocking GC at all. They are a very good football team.

If I remember correctly PV first points was off a GC turnover...I know both teams played well but turnovers did accounted for some of it.
