This Friday
Should be some slobber knockers this Friday night. This week is a picker's worst nightmare, but alas, here is how it's shakin' down:
J.I. Burton/ Gate City- This one will be a dogfight. Defense wins championships and Burton's will be the difference 14-7 Raiders.
Pound/Clintwood- The Wave showed us their mettle at Norton Friday. The Cats are capable, but the Wave will prevail 21-14.
PV/APPY- The young Vikings are getting better each game. The Dawgs are hungry. PV will survive this game 21-13.
JJK/Coeburn-Will the streak end at 19? I am counting on it. This one will be a thriller. 14-13 Injuns.
I could very well miss every one of these. Now for you all's picks.

Re: This Friday
PV 21 Appy 20
GC 14 Norton 13
JJK 14 Coeburn 21
-
Re: This Friday
Burton wil not beat Gate City. Appy has a good defense-but not as good as Burton's. Who is going to stop Tyler Parks? That kid is a stud. GC/PV on a dry field GC would win.
-
Re: This Friday
but G-C didnt win......it was a good game but i knew PV would win....and they stopped parks.....and they will stop him next year and the year after that.........
-
Re: This Friday
Wow, now thats a prediction. I hope in my old age i can remember that one.

Re: This Friday
Since the regular season is a winding down here in the ole LPD, a bowl theme to this week is at a premium. Watch and learn, LPD teams! THE Powell Valley Vikings are on a roll once again into the playoffs! You know it will be just like last year, hoisting the Region D trophy will be the master of the gridiron Phil "The Phenom"? Robbins!
Crappalachia's Little Doggies @ THE Powell Valley Vikings ? this bowl will be known as the "Have vs. The Have-Nots Bowl"?! PV has size, strength, speed, abundant talent, numbers, you name it. Crappy...well, they've got...what do they have? Not too damn much, I'll tell ya! Hell, Crappy couldn't even give the little blue boys a loss or keep within 2 touchdowns for that matter (15 is more than 2 TD's for you math wizards out there HAHA!). How can they expect to compete with THE Powell Valley Vikings? Truth be told, they can't! Take your loss like good little doggies by tucking your tails between your legs and go play one of the gridiron giants like Hurley or Rot Cove in the Division 1 playoffs HYUK HYUK! Gonna get ugly in this one folks! THE Powell Valley Vikings ? 35 Widdle Crappy Doggies - 6
8 Ounces (aka Pound Mildcats) @ Clintwood (home of the little green men) - this matchup could give you many titles of a bowl game! Given neither team is going anywhere after this game ends but home to pump up their basketballs, you could say it's the "Irrelevant Bowl"?! But given the chatter on this board from both team's fans (Pound after getting beaten down by the Raidahs & Da Wave getting beat down by that same Raidah team)...is it the Lion's Bowl? Naw, that was last week. The Shriner's Bowl? Naw, that's been played already as well. I GOT IT! "The Whiners Bowl"?! Yeah! That's the ticket! Who cares who wins this game, I certainly don't. But hey, still gotta pick a winner and a loser. 8 Ounces loses since they can't seem to play but one half of ball. I know it's redundant, but you gotta call it like you see "?em! Da Wave ? 14 8 Ounces - 6
Da Raidahs @ Great City (home of the little blue boys HAHAHA!!!) ? this bowl will be known as the "It's the LPD Championship game, but we really wish we were like THE Vikings Bowl"? HAHAHA!!! I know, cheesy but the truth's the truth. Bottom line on this game, Burton = speed to burn/little blue boys = ssssslllllooooowwwwww!!! The Jet-Sweep will be the item of the night as the little blue boys won't be able to contain the corners against those fast little Raidahs! Add in ole Thacker up the middle to keep the little blue boys honest and some timely passing against an undermanned/outclassed/no-skill talent secondary, the Raidahs will have a field day! Shew! I honestly don't think it will be the game y'all think it will be! Actually, I know it won't be! Raidahs go 10-0 and win the LPD title outright while the little blue boys cry and pout centerfield at the 50-yard line when the final horn sounds! Da Raidahs ? 30 Not-So-Great-City - 13
Coe-Burnt Ba-lew Ka-Nights @ K.K. Jelly Squaws ? HOO HA!!! Howzabout this one? Easy enough, "The Toilet Bowl!"? The bottom-feeders meet on the gridiron to see who can say they at least won one district game while the other team will scream "Wait "?til Next Year, LPD!"? The Cryin' Ka-Nights of Coe-Burnt hope they aren't the team the Jelly Squaws break their perfect losing streak while B.O. Salyers has his Squaws fired up after playing Yee-Ha Lee High within 2 TD's! Again, really do we care who wins this game? Oh well...here's my pick.
Cryin' Ba-lew Ka-Nights ? 26 K.K. Jelly Screamin' Squaws ? 20 THE STREAK CONTINUES!!!

Re: This Friday
PV-APPY....I think this should be a pretty good game. Appy has the heart, but i think PV has the force that will win the game 21-14
GC-Norton...This game is going to be the game that ruins the raiders perfect season. With GC playing at their homefield, Norton will fold, but it will still be pretty close. 18-14
Coeburn- Wise....The two worst teams in the district are battling it out. Coeburn will be the best of the suckiest, And kelly will have another completly losing season. 14-12
Clintwood-Pound I think this will be the most exciting game this week. I think if clintwood's defense shuts pound down early they should win. 24-18

Re: This Friday
PV-21 APPY-7
Appalachia has an alright team this year, their QB has gotten better as the year goes on. But in the end PV's faster and IMO better conditioned.
Coeburn 14
Wise 7
The way the knights played against PV could win them the game against the indians
GC 14
Norton 28
Norton has the speed and the D to win them this game

Re: This Friday
Powell Valley 24
Appalachia 18
Coeburn 18
Kelly 13
Clintwood 34
Pound 8
Burton 20
Gate City 19

Re: This Friday
Coeburn
Clintwood
Gate City
Appy
PV better conditioned than Appy? I don't think so. Robbins trains his team to be conditioned, but it's not something they have to rely on heavily. The reason for that is numbers. A kid gets fatigued, ya take him out a play or two to get his wind back. And that's easier for a team like PV when you have the numbers and talent to use for replacement. But Appy comes to play and they'll not quit. Not to mention both teams are practically guaranteed playoff spots, so this one is more about pride and momentum. I think it'll be close, but the Dawgs should come away with a hard fought victory.
Pound and Clintwood better than their record? I would say definitely both teams are. But what'll beat Pound in this game is what beats them when ever they do lose: coaching. That's Pound's biggest weakness. And keep in mind I'm only going by what I hear from a woman I work with who's son is on the team and from what I saw when I watched them play Appy.
Gate City has home field and a hall of fame coach. That's a good size advantage. And playing this year's Burton squad, they'll need some added advantages. It'll be close, but Gate City ain't no pushover and should pull it out.
Kelly vs. Coeburn? I hope Kelly wins just to prevent an 0-20 2 year run. But I think Coeburn has enough gas in the tank to beat 'em.

Re: This Friday
Appy people always try and make it out like PV players are not conditioned at all.
-
Re: This Friday
Burton-31
Gate City-25
And that the bottom line burton goes 10-0 and gate city gets beet at home again

And That's the reply you Vikings always gives!

Re: This Friday
Oh no, that was not my intention. I went to and graduated from PV, I'm embarrassed to say. I was even on the team for 2 yrs. I got a state ring for just standing around. lol But unless things have changed dramatically in the last 13 years, Phil Robbins runs his team to death. They are very well conditioned. My point is just that conditioning isn't something they have to rely on heavily due to the number of players they have. It's so much easier on a team when you have the numbers to field completely independant O and D squads. The conditioning doesn't factor in much since they have very few, if any, players playing both ways.

i agree phoenix.
kydawg, you to stupid to use the quote button?

Re: This Friday
Clintwood 41
Pound 7
Clintwood gets to play for pride for the 6th year in a row. Are they cursed? No one knows for sure, but any year you beat PV and don't get in is a disappointment. Havings said that, Clintwood had their chances and didn't capitalize. Gate City didn't show up at Bullitt Park and effectively ended the Greenwave season two weeks early.
Even though the Wave are way down this year compared to the last two seasons, I thought this might be the year. Maybe next year...!

Re: This Friday
Well here you are wrong if pound beats clintowod this friday night and hurley loses to twin valley pound is in the play offs 3rd seed playin appy first round
-
Re: This Friday
Well hell, if you get hit in the noggin by a meteorite you'll have a big ole hole in your head too you know! You've got as much chance of that happening as you do of 8 Ounces beating the little green men AND Twin Valley defeating Hurley! Through the grapevine they said that Twin Valley was having a tough time this past week just dressing out 11 players for practice! And besides, 8 Ounces won't be able to stop Kenny Dotson from running all over 'em!
Go figure, Sherlock!
You might as well start pumping up those basketballs, 8 Ounces! Not going nowhere after playing Clintwood this Friday but to the basketball gym hyuk hyuk! But so are the little green men of Clintwood, so at least you'll have company!

Re: This Friday
I know anything can happen...But Pound will not come to Clintwood Friday night and beat the Greenwave. Not happening. No way.
It has been an up (beating PV) and down (6 turnovers to Burton) season for the Greenwave. They will be 6-4 after Friday night.
-
Re: This Friday
The little green men of Dickenson County probably will end up 6-4 there, Bubba. The biggest reason is that Pound plays like a lion in the first half and like a lamb in the second, hence the new school name of 8 Ounces High School.
Nothing to crow about if your boys beat them though. Look at who they defeated (Ervinton, J.J. Kelly, Coeburn, Twin Springs & Castlewood) and who they lost to (little blue boys of Not-So-Great City, THE Powell Valley Vikings, Da Crappy Dawgs & Da Raidahs of Downtown Norton US of A). Bottom line, they haven't beat a team worth squat all season. All hype, no substance. At least the little green men of Clintwood can sit around the bonfire at night and brag to their grandchildren that thet actually defeated THE Powell Valley Vikings once about 30-40 years ago hyuk hyuk!!! Re: This Friday
PV_Rulz_LPD, your from Gate City. It's ok to have fun, but there has to be some limit to your fun. Since you are from Gate City, I may remind you that Powell Valley beat Gate City

You're so far wrong on this one Cletus, it isn't funny. If I live in Gate City, then you're a Japanese aviator. Then again, maybe I can say you are a Japanese aviator and it all be the truth and gospel! Just like you!
Sounds like you're a wee bit paranoid, son. Okay, you're VERY paranoid. Get back to class, young man. School's not out for a few more minutes hyuk hyuk!!!

Re: This Friday
Appalachia 20 Powell Valley 14
Coeburn 30 J.J. Kelly 26
Clintwood 28 Pound 14
Gate City 21 J.I. Burton 14

Re: This Friday
Appalachia
i have to go with appy on this one also
Coeburn
Pound/Clintwood
i personally think this will be a good game, pound will play their best, and hardest..and hopefully we will surprise the greenwaves.
J.I. Burton
i honestly think that if burton plays hard, and play like they wanna win, and play like champs, they will come out with a win..they cannot let up one bit on a team like gate city, but if they play full throttle the entire game, i think they can do it...
good luck all teams.
-
Re: This Friday
Gate City 21 Burton 27 I think Burton's speed will be to much for my Devils, hope I am wrong!
Pound 12 Clintwood 13 this one could go either way, should be a good ballgame
Appy 22 PV 20 Appy has more to play for, a higher seeding means they won't be traveling, and they aint skeered of playing a Bullitt Park
JJK 7 Coeburn 0 better days are ahead for these two teams!
Good Luck to all teams, and I hope everyone stays healthy for the playoffs!
-
Re: This Friday
JJK-21
Coeburn-14
Clintwood-36
Pound-0
Gate City-18
Norton-21
-
Re: This Friday
I've thought all week about this weeks games and this is how I see um.
Powell Valley 14
Appalachia 16
Appy plays hard nosed never qiut ball.
Coeburn 14
Kelly 13
Somebody's gotta win.
Clintwood 29
Pound 18
Pound plays tough for a half.
Burton 12
Gate City 16
Speed kills, but if GC is healthy and plays as good as they did against Clintwood, I see a win at Legion. If it were at Norton I'd pick different.

Re: This Friday
no affense to anyone from clintwood, PLEASE.
but i was readin this post and i love to see everyone predict for them to win and how we won!!!..it just gets me goin!
