With Honaker's loss how are the Region playoffs going to shape up?
After honaker's loss and if haysi wins out couldn't that put haysi on number 1?
I might be wrong, (just looked on swva football)but isn't Haysi already in first?
They are.
The question i have, being a GC fan, with our win and Honaker's loss can we get second? Observer 77 where are you?
I was wondering the same.
GC will be #2 seed but if haysi lose to Grundy next week then GC moves to #1. As it stands right now although i am not 100% on this.
1 Haysi
2 GC
3 Honaker
4 PV
You da man Broady, i don't care what Tob says about you.
As it stands then who would we play first?
I'll answer this one, Honaker at home.
haysi should beat grundy....it's been a long year for the wave.
#1 hosts #4
and
#2 hosts #3
That one scares me!
If all things play out like this, then go P.V.
Hey Broady, i'm not sure yet! i thought what u said until i did a little research.
Looks like GC is sitting at 19.5
Honaker is either going to be 19.6-20.0 depending upon the outcome of Haysi vs. grundy next week
PV looks to have #4 seed no matter what.
Haysi now has me a little confused...I don't know how/if Betsy Lane and Letcher Co. figure into things. If you only figure 8 games vs. the Virginia teams, then Haysi (with a win next week has a 20.25 and with a loss drops to a 19.0!
This is all unofficial and done very quickly. GC could be #2 and host Haysi, or could be #3 and travel....Weird year
Gotta watch that Broady feller he's a mean un
Not for sure, one of the people who go thru this stuff way to much was thinking Haysi could be 1, Honaker could be 2, GC 3, PV 4. That would be odd. I don't know myself so that way I can pass the buck.
Gate City
Richlands - 5 + 10 = 15
Coeburn - 12 + 4 = 16
Pound - 11 + 12 = 23
Lee - 16 + 6 = 22
Va. High - 15 + 8 = 23
JJK - 12 + 2 = 14
Clintwood - 12 + 10 = 22
PV - 2 + 7 = 9
Appy - 11 + 14 = 25
Burton - 11 + 18 = 29
Total - 198 / 10 = 19.8
Honaker
Lebanon - 12 + 10 = 22
Richlands - 5 + 10 = 15
John Battle - 12 + 0 = 12
Twin Springs - 11 + 8 = 19
Haysi - 12 + 18 = 30
Abingdon - 16 + 6 = 22
Twin Valley - 11 + 4 = 15
Va. High - 15 + 8 = 23
Hurley - 11 + 16 = 27
Tazewell - 5 + 6 = 11
Total - 196 / 10 = 19.6
That's factoring Haysi in defeating of Grundy and Richlands defeating Lebanon. The only way Honaker can benefit more than the above is if Lebanon defeats Richlands, which would only give them 1 point, putting them at 19.7. That would still have them behind GC in the point ratings.
If my math is wrong, please someone correct me. I calculated more than once, so hopefully it is correct.
It hurts my head too much...
I don't have to figure it out since the MPD Wave fell a bit short. I joke about them having multiple personalities, but its true, they were as hard a team to read as I've watched in awhile.
Plenty of time to get locations figured out since Haysi still has a game left
Here's something interesting to add to the mix:
Haysi
Clintwood - 12 + 10 = 22
Rye Cove - 11 + 14 = 25
Honaker - 2 + 8 = 10
Twin Valley - 11 + 4 = 15
Betsy Layne, KY - 12 + 2 = 14
Lee - 16 + 6 = 22
Hurley - 11 + 16 = 27
Letcher Co. Central - 16 + 8 = 24
Ervinton - 11 + 8 = 19
Grundy - 15 + 4 = 19
Total = 197 / 10 = 19.7
That's with Haysi going 9-1. Betsy Layne went 0-10 but was supposedly awarded a forfeit from Cumberland, KY...so I have them factored in at 1-9.
If the above holds true & the posting on GC & Honaker's are accurate as well, then GC will be the #1 seed no matter if Haysi defeats Grundy or not next week. That will have the D2 first round playoffs looking like this:
#1 seed Gate City hosts #4 seed Powell Valley
#2 seed Haysi hosts #3 seed Honaker
Looks like Grundy's loss tonight to Oak Hill, WV really hurt Haysi. A win by the Golden Wave tonight and a win over them next week would have gave them a 19.9 rating...thus making them a #1 seed. But since Grundy lost, that won't be the case.
Wild, huh?
My numbers have Haysi finishing 1, 2 or 3 and Gate City either # 1 or 3.
Could end up with a 3-way tie for the #1 seed.
Check out my preview for Region D and see what you think.

According to your preview page, you have Appy in at 2nd seed. Are you sure about that? I thought if Appy lost and Hurley won that Hurley would have the points to take over the #2 seed. I sure hope you're right, cause I don't want to go all the way to Hurley.
I sure hope you are right.
If I did the math right, I came up with Appy having 155 points to Hurley's 161. Considering you've done this longer than I have, I'd have to believe that you're right and I'm wrong. At least I'm hoping so.
Thanks to VHSLhelper and Observer for taking the time to figure the points and possible scenarios. Would also like to compliment helper on his great site. Well done guys.
GREAT JOB GUYS,,, when is first playoff games? this saturday the 12th??
Appy & Hurley both started with 137.
Appy
2 for losing to PV
7 bonus from PV
8 bonus from wins by Rye, Kelly, Pound & St. Paul (2 each)
1 bonus from win by GC
----
18 + 137 = 155
Hurley
11 for beating Twin Valley
4 bonus from TV
1 bonus from Haysi
-----
16 + 137 = 153
And I forgot to mention above that Honaker will either be 2 or 3.
For Region D, prob. Sat. the 19th. Region IV will start on Fri., the 18th. The 12th is next week - still regular season - Haysi-Grundy & Lebanon-Richlands on tap.
ok, thanks VHSL Helper,, forgot about some teams still had regular season.
you're right but lets see whether they stay in first which they probably could
looks like we're goin to haysi
So VHSL helper what happens if it does come down to a 3 way tie. Who gets what seed, what is it based on?
Oops - sorry 'bout that. Here's my link - follow 'preview' to Region D. VHSL-helper
Like I said, you're more than likely right. I had a hard time finding info on the OOS teams. So I probably added more than was necessary. Thanks for giving us Dawg fans something to hope for!!

If I'm reading Elliots' website correctly even if Haysi defeats Grundy, Lebanon would have to pull the biggest upset of the season and defeat Richlands to deny GC #1 seed. Haysi, even though defeated by Honaker, who is the BDD champion, would be the #2 seed and host #3 seed Honaker. Powell Valley, who defeated the Devils 17-14 during regular season, would be #4 seed and travel to Gate City. Is that correct??? Pretty strange result if it is.
Yeah, spuds, that's out of state teams. Weekend trip to Hurley canceled? Who'd have thunk it? http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/8/superbiggrin.gif
This will be the first time in a number of years that a BDD team has a legit shot at wining the Region in D2. Going to be some good playoff games.
Yep, that's the way it would be.

I figured it out right, but I put the seed numbers in the wrong place when I typed it up.
If Haysi beats Grundy and Lebanon beats Richlands, the Gate City - Honaker game will be at Gate City, not Honaker.
