The key will be turnovers. Burton will need to take better care of the ball against Appy.
if norton plays like they are capable of doing then they will win the game..
But i think it will be alot closer this time than it was during the season
is it just me or has burton gotten progressively worse as the season has went along?
who ever scores the most on saturday will win...bottom line...
is the game at uva-wise.
you right they have gotten worse then when they started. That's why Appy is going to beat them.
Appy- 24
Norton- 14
im gonna say Appy by 14
baber is gonna have a hell of a game
Yes the game is at Wise from what I have been told.
So is Miles. Neither team will win by more than 6 points.
miles always has big games it seems, ol webster can catch, pass, run, pretty much anything, as much as we may not get along, the boy can play some ball, i do give him that...
i still say appy by 14
Turner has watched film of GC/Burton and Burton/Clintwood. He has seen Burton's weakness and will exploit it. Burton will still make it a dog fight though.
Appy- 24
Burton- 21
He will have to open the playbook up to beat Burton. Simple runs up the middle will not get it done. No matter how "improved" Appy is.
Runs up the middle seemed to work pretty good for Clintwood and GC. I know you all shut us out but that was mostly our own fault not being able to hold onto the ball. I think Kenny rushed for 120+ and was in the redzone numerous times. Didnt Parks rush for 200+ against you all? Its been 12 weeks since you all have played, a whole lot has changed.
Yeah alot has changed. Clintwood never made it to the playoffs and GC is already out. Lets wait until Saturday to see who the best team is.
Well that doesn't change previous facts and numbers. It was a weakness and thats what was said, geeesh. Don't go all GC on it and act like weaknesses that were exploited at times don't exist just because others are out. I mean with that logic, since Miami beat Va. Tech but now since it looks like Va. Tech will win that division of the ACC, the things that Miami exploited don't exist. Guess what, they still do and instead of closing your eyes and putting your fingers in your ears and saying no no no you didn't win ha ha ha, you would probably have just been as well to say yeah it was a problem area but changes have been made and left it at that.
trust me, Appy wont put up over 150 yds rushing against Burton
This will be a really close game, but Appy just dont have what it takes to beat the Raiders...yea the Raiders may have gotten a lil' worse in as the season has dwelled down to the end..but in Regions and stuff everyone comes ready to play!
Bottom line this is going to be a hell of a game. Whoever comes out on top, will represent Region D and LPD very well.
game being played at UVAWise turf has to be nortons advantage.
In the playoffs it doesn't matter if you've won 10 games or lost 10 games, it's all about which team shows up on Saturday. You can throw records, trophies, your Aunt Sue out the window, none of it matters come Appy/Burton week. It's been 13 years since I suited up against Appy and I can still tell you what it felt like to play them. We didn't like them, they didn't like us, and it was a hard fought game.
I don't have a prediction on this game, because I saw Norton play twice and didn't see Appy at all.
The holes in the defense are still going to be there for Burton, but I think the hangover from the GC game has gone, and they showed that last weekend.
Yes it is true.
Why will they be playing it there? It is not like Norton's field is in bad shape or anything. Oh well, I may still have to catch the first half of that game before heading to work.
I don't know, you hear turf is fast, but if you're not used to running on the stuff, then it could hurt your team more than it helps. Having practiced once and played a few flag football games on turf, I'll say that for a lineman, I was really uncomfortable on the turf, my shoes didn't dig in like they should, nor did I get the same jump off the ball. Yes, the guys who are quick will love it, but it's really a different experience for a lineman.
Both teams have proven they deserve to be in the playoffs. They both have very different styles on offense and I am sure both coaches are prepared to meet the other one. It will be up to the players themselves who comes out the winner. Appy has improved every week. They are a team that fights to the very end and I would love to see them come out with the win. I really don't think Norton has got worse over the season, they have only lost one game. Earlier in the season if Norton would of played GC I believe Norton would have won, that is just my opinion. I wish the best to both teams.
Do not know. I still cannot believe that Tom agreed to this. I would think that Appy would have an advantage on a slower track.
I agree it does seem to play to Nortons strenth but so long as the State game is being played on turf I think both teams should jump at the chance to play on that type of surface as much as possable
I'd say since Norton is the #1 seed, they can pick it to be wherever they like. I don't think it's the fact that Burton's field is that bad, I think Jimbo is going to try to get them used to playing on turf, just in case, that way the first time the team is on turf won't be at State.
Yes they played TS, RR, and in the state finals last year on turf. Never know though the dawgs are tough and could do just as well on the turf.
Not necessarily. Both schools would have to agree on the site they move the game to. If they cannot agree then it would go to the Region principals.
Gotcha. I thought that it was in the rules that it would be at a #1 seed's field, then if that field was deemed inadequate, then it fell to a predetermined backup site, UVA-Wise.
the turf will help norton big time, they are more experienced on the turf..
Yeah, but Appy's more experienced on pavement!
I think it actually has to be agreed upon by both schools. I'd say Tom doesn't give a shite since it's not at appy and is looking at it like this.....since it's not at Appy, it doesn't matter. If Appy were to win it's just another chance to play on the turf..... Don't forget Appy has played on that surface as well. I still think JIB will win, but it will be closer than the first matchup. I don't agree though, that JIB has gotten worse, I think that their competition has gotten better. JIB by 8.

Yeah, but Appy's more experienced on pavement!

Ain't that the truth.
I dont really know if Burton has gotten worse throughout the year or not, I just seen them with 2 weeks left in the season. I do know that of the 9 other teams that I have seen this season, Burton has got one of the worst line of scrimmages on both sides of the ball. The turf will be a HUGE adavantage to JIB but I think Im going to leave my prediction the same though.
I think that it was 2 years ago that Twin Springs didn't want to play on the turf. I believe that after that it was decided that the host team could decide on the site. Don't take that as the gosple. It's just what I remember.Or think that I remember.
I dont understand why playing on the turf is even an option?
