Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Cedric Mitchell definitely deserved the QB award... he was pretty good, and next year he'll be even better.
And the year after that... who knows what will happen.
Congrats to Tyler Parks, though. To be a sophomore, that guy could/can run the ball like a beast. When he's a senior, he's probably going to be just about unstoppable.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Congrats Neeley.. I know you worked hard man. Well deserved
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Its going to be exciting to watch Mitchell, Parks and Stewart for the next 2 years.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Rickie Harris, defensive lineman of the year, not bad for a sophomore fellas, Im glad somebody saw what I saw and voted for him.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
IMO, Ethan Lopez got robbed!! He should have made first team defense. Just proves what I have always said about the all district voting from P.V. for the most part is not how well you play, but how much money you have. Just look at his stats for this year. He easily had better stats than Spurlock or Lane.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Congratulations to all that were choosen and especially to Jason and Chad. The future looks bright at PV as well with several players coming back who earned all LPD honors.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Chad Lane was by far the best defensive player in the LPD this year. And your entire statement about the all district voting at PV makes entirely no sense.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Well, you are entitled to your opinion as well as I am entitled to mine. Like I said, just look at Ethan's stats.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
I agree, Chad Lane deserved the award.
Congrats to everyone, esp. Chad and Neely.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Major hoorahs for all who made it.
Big grats to Parks and Harris, the LPD is going to be a lot of fun for the next two years. Knowing both of these kids, I gotta say that they are some of the finest kids I've met. Neither one of them has a big head, both are very humble and very bright. Nothing but good things ahead for these two.
Mega, you know how many tackles Rickey ended up with? I want to say he had over 100 going into the GC game, but I may be off on that stat.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
I have no idea bud, I just noticed that he was in the backfield on about every play this season.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
thanks, but does anyone know when Region will come out?
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
I believe it should be within the next couple of days. I thik they meet the Sunday after the regional game, but they may wait to vote until the last game of the season. Either way it should be out before too long.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
I can't believe Zo made 2nd team Defence. While I have nothing against GC, you would think by reading the article that had won state and everyplayer on the team made district.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Those QB selections don't make sense to me. A guy leads his team, the ONLY LPD team, to a State title appearance and he gets selected for 2nd team honors? Don't get me wrong, PV's QB had a good year, but where was he when Burton's QB was playing for state? Yeah, Burton lost, but he was there while the other guy was at home or in the stands. And then the Richardson kid from Appy can't even get an honorable mention? I heard he finished with over 1,000 yards and was only the 2nd sophomore from Appy ever to do that. But if he did indeed get 1,000 yards on such a run dominated team like Appy, he deserves a mention.

Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Shoe, I can understand you feeling that way, but this article was written for the Gate City section of tricitiessports.com. That is the website it came from & like every other school covered on that site, GC has a reporter(s)/writer(s) that writes articles for said schools & fans of that school with the flavor of a hometown newspaper. I am sure if Burton or another school in our area had a column within tricitiessports.com, they would follow suit of the other dozen or so schools covered by the site.
I think the reason this article was posted first is because they were the first to put it out on the net.

Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
I feel as if some norton people got cheated out of some all district votes... And i do not go to burton, yes i am a burton graduate.. Lee Robinson not first team, the kid had 9 int's, and a lot of tackles..

Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Ah it's all good man. I could care less really, you know. I mean it just came at me in a way to where I was like damn. But thanks for clearifing that up though.
But congrads to all who made it.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
How do they figure Zo is a wr. Isn't he a slot back?
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
There is too much talking and bargining at these all-district meetings. Ballots should go out and votes taken, no wheeling and dealing among coaches. That is how RB's like Zo get to be WR's. There almost like car salesman trying to get their boy on the team. And I know you can guess who is the best at it. I know Neely is a good center and congrats to him for an awesome year....but, Offensive player of the year? He was a pass blocker most of the year.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
So any lineman is not worthy of the player of the year award?? I'm not being a smartass but im just wandering if thats what your post is really meaning.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Generally when I think offensive player of the year, I think someone scored a lot, or gained a lot of yards.
Being an old trencher, or hawg, I kinda like this, but I think it's more of a gimmick...sorta like Woodson winning the Heisman.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
about the PV quarterback being first team and somepeople saying ethan stewart should haev been first team. THe best quarterback isnt always on the best team. Like Peyton Manning when Tom Brady was winning superbowls. PVs quarterback deserves it and congradualtions to all that made it.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Agreed.
I'll be totally honest with you, too. Comparing throwing ability and running ability overall, I would pick Cedric Mitchell as the better quarterback, simply because I've watched both Burton and Powell Valley several times and he was the most impressive one that I saw.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Ethan should had been first team hands down, he lead his team all the way to the state game. Im curious, who had more numbers ethan or cedric??
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
I'd say Zo led his team to state.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Offensive linemen of the year award is good. But Offensive player of the year? Just never heard of it before. I guess I'm used to a QB or RB getting this award.
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
maybe its just a straight rumor, but did ethan stewart drive to school as a freshman?
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
What the hell does that have to do with the subject at hand?
-
Re: All LPD Football for 2005 !!!!
Yea I reckon he did
but that has nothing to do with POY
