There are a lot of people who feel like that.
There are a lot of people that have that much emotion for a scripted "sport" ?
Jeesh!
Scripted it is, but its also a pretty dang demanding sport. Look at the number of career ending injuries, deaths (be it from the lifestyle or not). I mean there is a lot of contact, soreness, and the only way they make money is by putting their bodies on the line. I mean up till a few years back, there was no guarantee contracts, there is no insurance, no union, no retirement plan. So yes, a bunch of them have given their bodies to entertain, and to make a living. Anybody that does that, a certain amount of respect is given. I mean shoot someone like Hogan, who had limited movement, was able to get over due to look/size and his talking ability has had to have major surgeries.
I mean you're right, it is scripted, but so are movies, the problem is, the actors have stuntmen, the wrestlers, don't.
I see what you're saying.. I actually never knew it was very demanding until I saw that one series that used to come on TV in which a bunch of amateur wrestlers had to go through this intense training in order to actually be in the WWF (wasn't the WWE at that time).
What was that show called? I forget the name of it... but it did look tough!
Only thing I can think of was Tough Enuff and that was soft, there was no years of travel, small motels, 400-500 miles trips over night to make it to the next town.
I'll admit I enjoy watching wrestling. I grew up watching it, never had any illusion or not after a short time of it being real, but having read more about it over the years, its a hard life style to make.
Yeah, Tough Enough is what I was thinking off... sounds familiar, so I'm pretty sure that's what it was.
yeah thats it..and wrestlers dont have any off seasons either, so they go at it year round
and the award goes to...... crybaby wrestling fan......
