A Public Apology To elp6n
Darling, I am SO SO SO sorry that in order to prove a point to you about how pitiful boy's basketball in the LPD is, that I dragged you to Wise to see the JJK-Clintwood game. It was very gracious of you to allow me to stop at Wal-Mart afterwards and get that pack of Rolaids. And I PROMISE you from now on, we'll leave right after the girls game (since LPD girls has been where it has been at for years). What a pitiful exhibition of slop by both clubs. It's sad when I am walking through the parking lot laughing about how bad it is, folks from JJK and Clintwood with me, and nobody utters a word because they knew it was the truth. Congrats to Brian Mills though-great guy. This looks like another year in which the team who loses only 4 games in the league will be the champ.43-41 Clintwood BTW
Anyway, on to more important hings: LPD ladies (where we have seen a little gold since 1974). JJK's young girls if they can rebound better, and improve on getting the ball inbounds, are gonna be tough as the season progresses. I seen shades of solidarity from the Indians tonight. For the Wave, it seemed to me, and just my opinion, before I am crucified, that too many good shooters aren't getting plays. The Wave woefully needed an outside threat, and watched helplessly as JJK buried treys. Stop 24, and you got the Wave (unless the boss makes some changes). Like I said though-just an opinion. JJK Lady Indians-70 Clintwood Lady Wave-41.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
no one who loses 4 games in the district has won the district title in at least the last 4 years...i dont know how it was before gc got here
-
Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
I guess you were some sort of bball stud in high school to be able to put forth judgement like that?
-
Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
don't need to be...it's obvious it's bad
-
Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Trust us - it was that bad.
You dont have to be an expert on a particular subject to be able to say "that sucked" or "that was great."

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
And I guess you are one of those who can't see the truth when it's right in front of your eyes. Facts are facts-no gold since 1974. So you can go on living in a dream world, or you can accept reality. Trust me, I wish it wasn't this way/would love to be wrong. If you are seeing state title potential in the LPD, you have my condolences. Btw, not a basketball star, but I am someone who knows a bit about the game, having coached /refed youth for years in basketball. It's no different than a fan on here dogging JJK's football program who wasn't All-State himself, and God know's we've seen plenty of that.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
i got a question unchained...i ahve been ont he forum for years reading about what all u have posted and i admired u UNTIL this thread. The basketball team at kelly has had MUCH more success than the football team in which you admire. being 0-10 and 1-9 in two season isnt too dandy. the basketball team was next to last last yea in the LPD i think.
Tongiht i heard that kelly just played about as horrible as they possible could and still was in the game. that tells you somethin there. WHEN we all get clicking they might be good. i can guantee if you came to just ONE of coach mcamis' practice you would be surprised of how those boys work. i have close tyes to some of the jjk boys and they say that the practices are demanding. I never witnessed one myself but i casn only imagin. i am just shocked that you actually put something about your highschool like that. never once did you put somehtin bad about the jjk boys football team.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
I didn't say it was good, I just have a hard time listening to someone who probably couldn't stick his finger up his nose on the court, down the guys who at least get out there and give it their all every night.
-
Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
ok...outside the top 1-2 each year the lpd sucks in basketball
-
Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Go back and read into some history of my posts. I haven't glorified the football team at all. I've told them how it was as well. Bottom line is I'm always gonna be honest with you-whether you are from JJK, Clintwood, Coeburn, Appy, PV, GC, Norton, Pound.etc. If you can't respect the fact that I call a spade a spade that's your problem. I'll not lose a seconds sleep over anything on this forum. The people who know me personally respect me because I don't sugar coat things. It's a tough world folks. And if you have lost your respect for me because of one little post on a message board, I didn't need it to start with (that goes for every man/woman on here)

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
My right to say what I want. Thank God I'm an American.
BTW-you don't know me and probably is alot like assume. If at the end of this year, we see a state champion in boy's basketball from the LPD, then I'll be glad to eat that crow. The trouble with the truth is that some folks can't handle it, and it hurts/pisses them off. Sorry that you are so thin-skinned

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Well my honest assessment, both coaches come through the same system (Bentley), and both seem to coach to that style. A good win for old one leg Mills since he played there. For a team playing one senior most of the game, they battled well in a hostile environment, because the way Kelly's gym is, in my opinion, its one of the toughest places to play. A good, and judging by the comments on here, unexpected win for the Wave boys.
As for the girls contest, Clintwood seemed to be really playing well, and some lineup changes seemed to cause problems, and they never could stop the momentum once Kelly got it. The loss of Blevins due to injury really showed as Unchained said, due to lack of a consistent outside threat (which she was). Hopefully one of the younger players can step up for the girls.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Uh-Oh Rock, may wanna disagree with me, since I apparently am clueless about basketball
Brian is gonna be a good coach. I've known "country" since we were 5, and he's a hard-worker who will get results. I thought that #3 was quick and #40 was a load.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Well Unchained, the only thing I figure they are saying is, its first district game, and while it wasn't exactly a pretty game, with the style that I think both teams plays, it wasn't exactly as horrific as you say or demanding of a public apology on here to elp6n. I mean I had watched the Kelly boys play in the tournament over at Battle and they looked pretty good over there, Clintwood didn't look good over there. Tonight Clintwood managed to turn up the defense a bit, the refs actually let the players play (lots of junk could have been called on both teams, they let them play for once), and Kelly didn't have a lot of shots fall. I think Kelly will be a very improved team this year, and if Clintwood can play as a team like they did tonight, they could be a bit of a surprise.
I wouldn't quite judge or doom them from 1 game though, sounds to much like some did when GC lost in football to Richlands.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
I'll tell you exactly what is wrong with the girls. Some girls get excused from practice all week, then you know what, they play on game nights, and the girls who practice all week , well you know what, sit and reach water. You put in girls who don't practce, you get what you ask for. A bunch of lost girls! Had the Lady Indians by 8, then wham the subs and end of story. Great game Lady Indians, and Coach Mills has the boy's going in the right direction, and you know what? They are having fun!!!!!!!!!

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Obviously the "public apology" was done in satire. In truth, she was very supportive of me in my agony. JJK may still have a decent season, who knows? I have said before that this year was going to be one of those "any given night" years. Parity from top to bottom no doubt.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Glad to know I'm not the only one that calls him Country. That's how I've known him as long as I've known him.
I think he realized like the rest of us, he's not as young as he used to be (hurt his foot practing with the team). I think he said broke a couple bones and tore ligaments, and those durn stairs at Kelly about did him in twice going to the locker room.
-
Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
I went over to him to wish him luck, and he was telling me (rather sheepishly) how he did himself in-lol. He's my age, and we "old farts" know better than that

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
I know the apology was done as a joke, but like I said, Kelly looked pretty good in the Battle tournament. When everybody was picking Kelly by quite a few on here, you notice I didn't comment, because truthfully, the way Clintwood played over there and the way Kelly played, I wouldn't have been shocked, but a few of the younger players from Clintwood are maturing faster, and a few of the older ones actually are buying into the style and the effort Mills wants.
Bolling is a difference maker, if he's on, the Kelly team will look very good. If he has a tough night, until some of the others develop, they'll struggle.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Oh well it was good meeting you tonight unchained. You may not remember me but i was sitting behind Mills. I was the one that he said broke it...He stepped on my foot.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
I've got an old CVC newspaper around here somewhere of me, him and some others in the old Zehmer lounge playing cards. The Zehmer lounge lizards. I think the message says warning teachers, they are probably laying out of class, and the bad part was, I was but dang it, I like playing cards.

I didn't see Unchained or Elp6n there Jimmy, you were one up on me. By the way, you played a really good game tonight, good job.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Next time, maybe we all will have a little more time to chat, but alas, I had to get back over to the game.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Thanks Rock....You did a great job keeping the stats. j/k

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Don't vent to much Burrhead, to be honest, I think thats one reason she doesn't get in much. I think she could help them honestly, not just saying that because its to you, and she knows I think that.
She'll be ok, even if she doesn't get the time she probably deserves in basketball. She's a good girl, nothing like you

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
I gotta go with Unchained on this one, they stink, not even getting into tonights game, I wasnt there, but seeing all of the lpd teams over the last year or so, they arent even coming close to living up to the product that was once put on the court around here. Forget '74, Id be pleased with a product that was as decent as the 10-10 '96 raiders that went to state. I dont know what the problem is but basketball is horrendous in this area these days, not just at wise or clintwood.
-
Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Yeah, burrhead..gotta watch that honesty stuff on here.
Your daughter has a good shot. I saw her in warmups. Don't know what's going on over there, but at JJK you don't miss practices.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Hey no help tonight, I did do a good job tonight LOL
Things even added up with the book and everything, kind of shocked myself
Fine next time I won't think hmmm I think he blocked that shot

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
One of the refs told me he could remember when the games were in the 70 to 80 point range. Hard to break 50 now.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Haha yeah...everytime you think i did...i probably did so just go ahead and put it down.

And yet you guys will go out of your way to criticize me and call me an idiot because I complain about football teams that aren't performing worth a dime in the LPD.... and because I don't play, you immediately say that my opinion is worthless?
Pfft... give me a break. You'll attempt to ridicule me, yet you won't do not a damned thing to anyone else that states their opinion and doesn't actually go out there and play.

Re: A Public Apology To elp6n
Don't use me as an example of those who don't go out there and play man. They don't let 32 year-olds play in the LPD, although from what the folks on this board tell me, Gate City is workin' on it-lol

Replace the original poster with me, and I guarantee you that Roy and anyone else willing to pitch in with him would be pounding away at me, attempting to get in every last word to insult me. Happens every time - and only to me.
