First Semester of College

Well I have officially made it through my first semester of college. I must say that college is totally different than high school in more ways than one. I enjoy school, I actually wish I could've stayed up there than coming back home. It's just not the same coming home anymore, I graduated last year and already it seems I have drifted away from my high school friends. College is a challenge, just going to class can be a challenge and I'm sure most on here know that. The parties are fun I'll say that, meeting girls is alot easier haha. Anyway, I'm ready for the second semester to start already and hope I continue to pass so I can show up again next year.

I told ya man....you will begin to drift further and further...have u meant any guys who have failed to realize they graduated? Like still go to every single practice/game and then to all the highschool parties as well?

Yea, I think for the most part I've calmed down alot at high school ball games. It's just not the same. I do enjoy college more than high school though.

You drift away from high school friends faster than you'd imagine.

I saw only 1-2 high school friends in my college years, and after that it was the 10-year reunion before I saw some of the others again.

It's strange how it happens, and yet it doesnt feel unnatural; it's just the next step in life.

My best friends in highschool, were my best friends in college and are my best friends now. I wouldnt say you drift away rather you realize who your best and true friends are.

All of my guy friends that I graduated with are still my boys. And 2 of my girlfriends that I graduated with and I are still close....

I met 2 girls in college though, that I definitely feel like I've known all of my life. And I know I'll continue to be friends over the years with them.

I hated my first year of college. I felt really out of place. Everywhere. When I was at school, I felt out of place...and when I came home, it wasn't any better. Luckily, I adjusted just fine and Tech became my second home.

I love UVA-Wise, I feel like I'm more at home there than when I go to PV.

HAHA, I'll be back. I have to make sure I pass so I can defend my Rook title next year.

MECC is a good school as well. The tuition is about 1/2 of UVA-Wise, and I have yet to meet a professor that I did not like. The classes are not too hard, and as long as you are careful and take only the classes you need, MECC is great. Just don't get stuck up here for 3 years working on a 2 year degree like so many people have.

There is a guy I went to HS with that still take classes up there I think he is on there 20 year plan LOL

I think i knew him Counts. He took classes at MECC to. J/K But i knew one person who had one certificate and a degree from the college there and was still going.
Honestly i did ask him, what his plans where, he was an older gentleman, he said im a professional student. And he was serious. He takes classes just to be in the mix of life and to have something to do.
He said he had been retired from the military and was using his educational money now to just enjoy life his way. Learning.

Glad you got that first one behind you pvfan. And it can be odd. But the advice you been given is correct. Ole highschool friends disappear quickly and things change rapidly. Just enjoy your time in college and stay in the books. Big leap academically and demand wise from highschool to college.

man, I'll tell you what...they will fly by if you are not careful...this is my final year, but dang how they have flown by...from Sclonick's class my 1st semester to working until 2:00 a.m. doing intramurals, but it has been fun...there is a lot more to offer at UVA-Wise than what most people realize especially when you know alot of the higher up people who will point you in the right direction
