I thought we needed an offical one to post predictions. The others just ramble on about Gate City tennis.

You want the mighty Roy, you have him. Once the temperature warms up a bit, well, lets just give you until the summer to get some practice in (lord knows you're gonna need it, and a whole lotta luck) to even hang in there.

I've heard that the four horsemen of Gate City will be the saviors of Gate City tennis that will finally get them a district title in one of the few sports they've failed to dominate in.
These kids apparently play year round in indoor facilities in the tri-cities and are tournament seasoned.

As a Burton alum, I know we don't practice year round, and we do not have the resources to play in country clubs, have tennis lessons, etc... And most of us never took the initiave to ever play in some of the more competitive tournaments the tri-cities to offer. The fact of the matter is we multi-task too much in other sports, academics, jobs, etc... And this is respectable you gotta do what you gotta do.

But I gotta ask to the Burton tennis faithful, can you honestly get it done against a bunch of pretty boys of country club stock. This especially means the veterans have to step up and take the inexperienced kids under your wing so the top 6 is strong top to bottom - you should leave no one to hang.

Throughout my career I saw us get beat time and time again at state by teams that were more fundamentally sound (read the P#!*#$ from George Mason high school for example).

I think you can. But you're going to have to go into this season with a chip on your shoulder like we used to when Kelly was THE team to beat and the papers never gave us any credit.

I know Burton's dominated districts and regions for the past couple years, but do NOT take this year lightly.

I honestly don't think we are currently the team to beat, but in 5 months I expect/hope that this edition of the Burton tradition makes it that way again.

This post was suppose to be for predictions....not just to repeat all the other posts about gc tennis.

I believe Coeburn may have a pretty good team this year. We only lost one senior last year and we put up a good fight all of last year. We beat Gate City twice last year.

Kelly's boys 6th. Really? Have things changed that much? Usually JJK's boys tennis team is in the top 3. Are they really young or something?

- that is unless Clintwood didn't lose anyone from last year, then they might give our lower seeds fits

With respect to Kelly, I've heard no one cares about tennis anymore. You guys always have the talent walking around your halls, but not always the motivation. You know Kelly tennis has fallen when Coach South isn't UNfriendly with our tennis players.

But back to the main point; please prove me wrong Raiders, I hate Gate City.

Last year they lost Mark Dotson who carried the team alot last year. This year they have Weis Strugill who is good and will be there top seed i beilve. There 2nd seed is probabally going to be Josh Darter who is fair, and thats pretty much all they have.

how are you ranking Gate City in the top postition and they didn't even rank in the top 3 last season??

because theyre at worst top 2 in the region...top 4 in the state

think about who played for gate city last year...and only 2 of them will remain in the top 6

with respect to Coeburn tennis, haha. I'm sorry if this sounds disrespectful but Coeburn tennis is a joke. my sister could've beat at least half your team when we were in high school, and I doubt much has changed these days.

there hasn't been parity in tennis in the lpd since the mid 90's. it's always been kelly and burton or more recently gc (insert clintwood every now and then) and burton.

GC girls have never lost a match in the LPD and wont this year.They should make a strong run at their 4th straight state championship.

I put gc 3rd out of complete hype.

It is Gate City. They can go from nothing to everything in just one year.

How do you say coeburn tennis is a joke??? we placed thrid last year. All the guys on the team are dedicated and hard workin players. I give it to you in the past it wasn't all that good but coach recuited a lot of good players that have been with it the past 3 years. I say Coeburn does as good or better than last year. Next year they will lose just about every player.

at best they finish 3rd...but i think 3rd is clintwood's spot

and honestly, how many other teams do MOST people care about besides the top two? honestly.
other teams are good, but GC &amp; Burton have great teams.
i know i am anxious to see who comes out on top

5 years of winning doesnt mean you can just put the jersey on and expect everyone to roll over dead for you. You guys have more to prove this year than any year in the past.

You guys are going to be challenged....For about the last 5 years or so, there has been little to no competition around here and its been a free trip to state. Now the time has come that everyone else has stepped up their games, its up to you guys to step up yours. I dont want to hear "I think we can pull it out", I want to hear "we are going to go out there, dominate, rape their mom, and kick their dog" thats the raider way.
