2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
I've not started a Yahoo league yet, BUT--if you're interested post here and I'll start one up. I think we can have a max of 20 teams, just like in football. I'd like to get at least 10-12 for a league. Who wants in? If there's not enough interest I don't wanna waste a league. PLEASE, ONLY SAY YOU'RE INTERESTED IF YOU'RE WILLING TO STICK THROUGH THE WHOLE SEASON.

Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
I'll play, nothing like going back to back in championships.

I'm in B...where do I sign my contract extension through the end of the season?

Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Okay--6 including me. Need at least 4-6 more, I'd like to have what we had in football and have a huge league of 20...
I'm gonna leave this up until next Friday--I'll get Rock or someone to tack it.
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Oh put me in too.
I'm a glutton.
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
And a suggestion...dont try to go 20
One thing that hurt the football was too many teams, too difficult to find quality players and you get people disinterested.
Fine line between challenging and freak why am I even wasting my time

Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Okay--how about we make it minimum 10 (which we have 8 right now) and max 14. That would mean there are only 8 slots left.
Also, do we want rotisserie scoring or head-to-head? I myself prefer head-to-head, even though I've been more successful in rotisserie.
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
I maybe misreading your post because I suck at math, but if there are a maximum of 14 teams and we have 8 now...that would leave only 6 slots left right?
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Count me in. Do I need to pm you any personal info?
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Thanks OAR--you just pointed out who the accountant was amongst us, that's for sure...LOL...my brain's fried. It's crazy, I can add, subtract, multiply, & divide thousands in my head and be right, but simple math has killed me here lately!!!
But you're right--6 slots. Now 5 since Slurve wants to play.
Slurve: no personal info needed. This will be an online fantasy baseball league through yahoo--the only thing you'll need is a Yahoo ID to sign in and sign up. Once the league is established & created I will post the League ID# and password needed to get access to the league.

Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
I've got all the Yahoo stuff already, just let me know when. Will we do auto or live draft?
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
haha, it is cool man....i'll let you off this time since it is Friday and you'll have the weekend to recover and get some TLC from the_alienist
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Oh, count me in too. I'm already in one league, but this could be even more challenging with 10-14 teams involved.
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
It'll probably be autodraft. It's too hard with as fragmented as we all are to do a live draft...different schedules that at least 1 or 2 people would have problems getting to a live online draft.
After we get everybody in the league, I'll give it about 2 weeks since the season's not starting for a while--that should give plenty of time to pre-rank players and get them good to go.

Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Thanks OAR...'preciate it...
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
If there is anyway possible I prefer a live draft, but I understand the schedule deal.
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
I prefer it too double D, but I doubt it'll be possible with this many people and the crazy schedules we all hold.
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Yea I know what your saying, btw good luck tonight. I might come to Clincho and watch Coeburn in the regionals next week.
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Its about impossible to schedule a live draft
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Good deal man--I'm gonna make it to as many of those as I can myself, regardless of how long Coeburn lasts or doesn't last. Thanks for the good luck.

Just wondering when the league will start up?
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Sorry fellas--I'll try to start it up today--at least get it created. I've been really busy this weekend and haven't had the chance. I'll post the info when I get it set up.
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
I would be interested also fellas. Just let me know if you have a spot left or not.
-
Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
I'm going to put the cap on the league at 14 members. Hopefully we've got that many still interested.

Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
Here are the settings. I tweaked a couple of things given how things have been in the past 5 or so years I've played fantasy baseball w/Yahoo. I put the Trade reject time at 3 days instead of 2 so we could have a day to talk about it on the board here or on the league page, then 2 days to vote if need be. There DEFINITELY has to be a trade freeze near the end of the season so we don't get teams trying to help others load up. I rolled back the waiver time to help avoid having guys stack their lineups with just guys to play every day to pile up stats. They'll think twice about dropping a good player if they know that this player clears waivers the day after and is free game. I don't like the "can't cut list" because if you get stuck with a really good player that suffers a season ending injury early in the year, that's a frozen roster spot that can't be used. Even if a player is just hurt all year but never goes on the DL, that can handicap a team real quick--and I want all teams to be competitive.
Speaking of DL...I put 2 DL spots instead of 1, that way you can DL an offensive player and a pitcher if need-be. I extended the bench positions from 6 to 8, so at any one point in time you can have 26 total players (16 active, 8 bench, 2 DL which do not count towards roster numbers).
As for the stats, I added hits & slugging % to the offensive stats, and tried to balance that out with K's so we're not sitting on Adam Dunn's shoulders all season... Also in the pitching I added complete games & shutouts, it takes the premium off of power pitchers and helps even the field between the high K guys and the control pitchers. Makes you have to look at more than ERA & K's when getting a pitcher. I thought about adding losses as well to the pitching stats...let me know what ya'll think.
Take a look, and if anyone has any suggestions, let me know...I think we can change these settings up until we set ourselves as ready to draft...so this can be tweaked further. Thanks.
P.S.--another possible tweak--anyone have a suggestion on the minimum innings pitched per week? It defaults to 7, and I put it to 10. I would like to avoid a team with like 5 good RP's that are being rode to great pitching numbers on very little innings of work. Is 10 too much or too little?

Re: 2006 LPD Forum Fantasy Baseball
There's only 5 teams signed up right now. I thought we had interest of close to 10 or 12??? C'mon fellas...get in. No major hurry or anything since the season doesn't start for a while, but I figured that everyone who said "I'll be in it" was ready to get started.
The cap for teams is set at 14, so if you guys want to find other people to play, that's fine.
One other thing--are there any further suggestions of how we should tweak the scoring system or positions used?
