No
Darn, i'll have to hit all winter again!
I've never figured out how a tennis player can be the 6th best player on his/her team (being the #6 seed) and make all district because he/she beat most of the other teams' #6 seed, yet the best player on the team (#1 seed) doesn't make all-district if they can't do the same.
The thing is though, Burton has had players at #6 that could make all district at #1. Recently, thats not the case but Matt Ward is a prime example. He was the best #6 seed Ive ever seen.
I'm sure he was. Kelly has had some girls on their state championship teams that were better than other teams' #1 seeds. The thing that gets me is your #1 might not make All-District while your 6th best player does. Name any other sport that can happen in.
The criteria for all district has changed in the past few years. The #1 seed has to go 4-3, #2 has to go 5-2, #3 6-1, and #4-#6 have to go undefeated to get all district.
I know what you mean, believe me, I was the best freshman in the district back in 95 but I ended up with 4 losses to some of the best players to ever play in the district. I didnt make all district, I was the only person on the team that didnt but thats the thing about tennis all district, you have a specified record to shoot for and you know you gotta get to that win total, its not like coaches vote. Not sure what the record has to be now but when I was playing you had to be 9-3 at the very least.
As for playing a high seed so early, maybe I took some losses but Id rather play the best players than play at a lower seed. Same way in college, I played #1 at uvawise. I would have probably made all conference at #4 or so but I wanted to play osme of the best players in the nation. That brought out the best in me and thats all I ever played tennis for. Sometimes youre just outmatched by your opponents but that doesnt mean you cant be inspired to play the best you possibly can. I won a couple of games off of a guy that is now winning 100,000 dollar tournaments. I was more proud to lose to a guy like that than beat anybody in the lpd.
How do Tennis teams or certain players make it to Regionals or State, is their like a playoff at end of season or what?
Qualifications for Regionals is the same as any other sport. To qualify for state, you have to win the regional title.
In individuals, the 1st seed doubles and singles for each team have a chance to go to state. During the regular season , whatever your ranking is in the Lpd will be your ranking for the LPD tournament. 8th seed plays 1st seed, and so on. Then the winners go to regionals, who then go to state
i hope im like a 6th seed so I can pull a huge upset
