ACC 4-0

Why does the greatest basketball league ever not get any respect when it comes to selections? 4-0 in the first round, I rest my case.

The Pac was right there with 'em. Nc State/Cal was the decider and it went right down to the wire. The ACC could have easily been 1-3. I think conference records in the tourny have more to do with matchups than they do with greatness of the conference. It hurt the big east having so many teams in the dance, some very mediocre. I must say though, even Nova and Uconn have looked like poopoo thus far.

The Big East started 0-3 in the tourny, but rebounded yesterday going 5-0. Yeah the ACC is 4-0 in the tourny, how far will their teams go? I'll say Duke, and UNC will both advance, while the others lose. As far as the big east is concerned, there is a real chance the big east remaining teams will continue to advance to the sweet sixteen. That to me makes the big east the best conference.

No offense to anyone, but it really bugs me when people say the ACC had the best conference, when the Big 10 and Big East were considered the top two by most experts this year, but hey everyone is intitled to their own opinion.

Eight teams in the tourny is a first you can't deny that fact.

I think the ACC will get 3 teams to the sweet 16... with BC being the third along with UNC and Duke.. the Big East will get I think 5 in the sweet 16... UConn, Nova, G'Town, Pitt, and West Va. But just because the experts say that they are best doesn't mean they are... a lot of the 'experts' picked Kansas to go to the Final Four but they were one and done... so I agree with Mega I think it's matchups more than actually conference greatness.

Can you say 6-0? Still have the best tourny record of all the leagues. I hope the selection comittee realizes this next year.

forget the ACC!!! Glad your pulling for ole duke now!! I hate Duke and I hate the ACC!!! (except Tech cause theyre local!!) I hate duke with a passion that is ridiculous!!!

I dont pull for Duke or Carolina in the NCAA's but I think it shows how strong the league was and that FSU should've gotten in.

i dont know why everyone is making a big deal about the 8 teams in the tourney

umm...the big least has 16 teams!!!! that's only half the conference, which the ACC has done before...besides, the ACC doesnt have easy wins like South Florida or St. John's

ACC teams beat up on each other and it hurts their chances to get in the tourney...Maryland and FSU in any other conference gets in

Behind the ACC I pull for the Pac 10, and I dont feel either league got any respect at all. Arizona beats Wisconsin, Washington has already beat Illinois, and currently UCLA is tied up with Bama at the half. The only team that lost was Cal, and I honestly believe thats because Powe had an off par game by his standards.

Well I don't think the ACC proved a whole lot today. Montana was a pushover, and GW is ok, but not a great team. The ACC is very good, but this was a down year for them, and that has to be admitted.

it is a down year...and a down year where they are 6-0 in the tourney...if you go 6-0 in the tourney and it's a down year, you should get more than 4 teams in the tourney every year

GW a pushover who lost 3 games all year,losing three games in a season doesn't make you a pushover in my book. Two of their loses were to ACC schools. Montana beat 5th seed Nevada. I agree however that this was a down ACC year, and in a down ACC year they are undefeated in the NCAA tournament. Not bad for the best then, now, and always.

So who were the next 2 up for the ACC that should have gotten in, and on what basis?

Maryland, who lost at home today in the NIT to Manhattan?
Virginia who got creamed by Stanford in the first round?
Or FSU who may lose to South Carolina tomorrow?

FSU and Maryland. Maryland didn't want to play in the NIT, which is why they lost. The players voted not to play in it, and Gary Williams turned it down until the AD made his team play it. Maryland had a higher RPI and SOS than bubble teams that got in. Also, everybody in the world knows that if not for bad officiating FSU would've beat Duke twice.

Name one big win for GW all year other than Maryland who didn't make the tournament? Name one NCAA tournament team they beat that got an At-large bid?

you cant be a pushover and win as many games as they did...i dont care if youre in a conference with the worst teams in the country...if you are in any D1 conference who traditionally gets more than one team in the tourney and you win 26-27 games, youre doing something right

They didn't beat anyone that got an "at large bid" they did beat Xavier who pushed Gonzaga to the end of the game. When your talking about GW though due to their conference they dont play many big name teams.

I never called GW a pushover, I called Montana a pushover to BC. GW was a good team, but not great. They were at best probably a legit 7 seed.

By your standards Montana is better than GW, Montana beat a ranked Nevada team. GW didn't beat a ranked team all year.

Xavier was a 9 or 10 seed in the A-10 tourny who got hot, and won that tourny championship. Had that not happened, they would not have been in the NCAA tourny either.

Outside the A-10 the played A-Sun schools, 3 ACC schools who they lost 2 games to, and other podunks out in the lower D1 cess pool. They barely got by Marshall, who ETSU beat by 28 for an example.

So Gonzaga is a bad team?

No had Pops been healthy, we would be talking about UT losing to the team with nations longest winning streak.

No, Gonzaga is a good team, but not a great team. They will only make it one more round at best. They may go down as we speak.

if you beat 26 or 27 division 1 teams you are a good team, it does not matter who you beat, if you are winning that many games it is very impressive

If seedings hold out, they should lose in the next round. Which would mean that they are one of the top 16 teams in the nation. What do you consider a great team? BTW, Montana beat Stanford by 19.

Ok, so is Montana better than Maryland? I know Montana earned their way into the tourny, and beat Stanford who did not make it. They also lost to Wisc-Milk who was an 11 seed. It is pretty appropriate.

Do you think you will ever see Maryland below a 12 seed? I doubt it. I will agree that Maryland was better than Air Force, and should have gotten in, or FSU for that matter. But, so far the ACC has won the games they were supposed to, and even had some trouble doing that.

The ACC is great and all, but this is a down year, and after the top 4, the rest was pretty much even with the middle of the pack from other major conferences, and top teams from mid-majors.

Haha, parity in college basketball. All I'm saying is that by the numbers the ACC is the best conference.

I agree, but what I am saying is SC was the 5th best team in the SEC East, not in the SEC like FSU was in the ACC. Plus, that would put all the ACC teams out in the first 2 rounds on the NIT.

NC St. was supposed to beat Cal? And your argument about other major conferences being better than the ACC from top to bottom doesn't look well considering the ACC beat the Big 10 in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge again this year.

I wasn't arguing the other conferences as better or worse than the ACC. Year in and year out they are normally the top conference, but this year it was the Big East as the best overall, and as you said, a lot of parity across the board.

I am not comparing the ACC versus any conference. Get it through your skulls. I am just saying that Maryland, nor FSU, nor any other school from the ACC layed out a great case for making the NCAA tournament over most other schools who made it.

good thing for the ACC is it is very young...and outside of Wake Forest and Duke everyone should be a better team next year

Maryland higher RPI and SOS than both Air Force and Seton Hall. Thats over though, all I was saying at the start of my thread was that the ACC has done better than anybody else in the NCAA Tournament.
