If GC beats Pound Sat, they will be the #1 seed (12-2). Kelly would be the #2 seed(11-3). I think PV has 4 district losses & I think Coeburn has 5 or 6 losses, which means the Coe vs PV game could have seeding implications. One will be 3 & the other 4 seed. I dont know how 5-8 will be. Tournament should be very interesting. There has been alot of close games during the regular season. Kelly is probably the hottest at present, but it really should be a good tournament.

What's this I heard about PV pitcher causing their team to be in last place due to dropping a class a MECC? Making them 0-14?
I agree. Its a great facility now. A heck of alot better than when I played there, well lets just say along time ago.

From what I understand, both baseball & softball district tournaments are going to be played at UVA Wise.
Just that to be eligible for sports a student must carry 4 credits and she dropped a class at MECC and did'nt tell anyone and when grades came out she was short a credit and that put them in last place and they play GC monday.
In baseball, I think Coeburn and PV both have 5 losses, and they play each other Friday at Coeburn, so that will break the tie.
But the girl they say it is broke her hand against JJK, and didnt play in half of the games...

I was thinking the same thing. I know she didnt play against us the 2nd time. I had heard that she broke her hand & didnt play after that. Can someone confirm this?
Man that is tragic for all the underclassmen who contributed to the team for a senior to do this to her team, her school....a disgrace in my opinion. . .
she did break her hand...and I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think she missed very many games - maybe just a couple...because even though she couldn't pitch, I think she was still playing in the field for most of their games..
Also, I'm not sure if they won any of the games that she missed.

What do the brackets look like? I mean does the 1-8 vs. 4-5 winner play the first game or the second on Wednesday?
How can you call a kid a disgrace over a game? Thats f'd up, do you really think that she said, hey im going to drop this class so we will have to forfeit all of our games? You cant be serious. That girl played hard for four years and its pretty easy to assume that she feels bad about what happend, but to call her a disgrace, thats horsechit. Maybe MECC should have notified PV, maybe Danielle should have notified PV but most kids dont even know elgibility and rules requirements in the first place. Maybe coaches in this area need to educate their players better for these types of things not to happen. When I played college sports, our first meeting was a two hour meeting concerning ncaa rules violations. Either way, Danielle Kilgore is not a disgrace, shes a good softball player that made a mistake.
I agree the mistake is on the PV AD and maby the coach I don't know the whole situation BUT if she droped a MECC class there is no way that the school did not know about it and if they did know about it and continued to alow her to play the blam (if there should be any) falls to them not the girl who in all liklyhood had no clue that she was messing up her elgability
I did not specifically refer to HER as a disgrace, but to the entire situation. It puts a big ugly scar on a program that was growing into one of the better programs in the LPD. I agree that Danielle has been an excellent athlete and she has represented PV well from the games that I saw. But you have to admit that it is very sad that this has happened. You are right about the rules education-more is needed for the high school students.
Its a sad situation, but its not life or death. Heck they can still win the lpd tourny and its a mute issue. I know they are behind the 8 ball playing Gate City, but they were struggling even with Danielle. I dont think its an ugly scar on pv, its a mistake. It happens all the time to be honest. Coach Wilson is the AD at norton, he made a mistake on a KY transfer during football season. Burton forfeited every game that guy played and limped into the playoffs at either 4-6 or 5-5 instead of 8-2ish. Its not the first time this has happend and it wont be the last, people shouldnt think anything less of PV for it. Paul Clendenon is a nice guy, he wouldnt cheat intentionally.
From my understanding there was an appeal of the situation heard this morning and PV has won the appeal. The season standings will stay as they are.
You may be right, many people may forget it. Paul is a great guy, i hate it for him, too. I hope they will make some noise in the tourney, and maybe that can help people forget it. I try to support all LPD teams,and I hope the state forgets. The rest of the state already can't stand us. Oh well, that's their problems and can stay that way!
I hope this is true. There's always alot of info on this type of thing that we dont know about.
That would be great for the PV program, but this will also tighten some reigns to prevent this from happening again (hopefully)!
I got the information from a head coach from one of the teams in the district (not saying which team) who was informed of the decision this morning.
That dual enrollment thing has holes thats for sure, when I was at PV I took a class at MECC and atteneded 2 classes that semester and made an A. Why I missed is due to scheduling conflicts with my high school class so, in all reality I was really only taking 3 classes yet it appeared as if I was taking four and got grades for four classes. This goes back to another problem that occurs in Wise County and that is lack of classes, if we actually had enough funding for classes that Seniors needed for college they wouldn't be going to MECC. When the highest math you have is albera II and the highest chemistry you have is chem I you have problems.

GC vs Pound cancelled today. Pound said field is under water. To be played Monday. How much did it rain in Pound last night? We got very little.
It came a good storm in Norton last night, so I would imagine that Pound got quite a bit of rain as well.
Is the tournament starting on Monday or Tuesday?
Someone said that GC and Pound are making up a game on Monday.

I heard from the parent of an Appy player that they were playing GC on Monday in what I assumed was a first round game of the LPD tourny. If GC has to make up a game with Pound then maybe the tourny will start on Tues. Anybody know definitely?
