Heard a rumor

Supposedly Lorenzo Miles was arrested last night for possession of cocaine and possibly distribution of cocaine as a result of police raiding a party held by underaged kids in wise. Anyone heard anything about this yet? I'll update when I can confirm, but its an interesting story to say the least considering hes still in high school and has scholarship offers and such. If you guys hear something, let us know. I cant confirm the rumor at this time.

I dont know if he could be charged with selling, since it was more like giving it away, but I would assume that he could be charged with selling if the amount was high enough.

I'll probably be able to find out more today. Burton's prom was last night so I havent talked to any of the kids that may know something.

The big question is if he is 18. If he is and was caught doing the above. It can go badly.
I hope it's just a rumor myself.

In Wise County, if they catch you with coke and scales, then its distribution.

If he got caught with more than one bag, then its conspiracy to distribute.

I hope this isn't true, but if it is, I will not write him off, everyone makes mistakes.

I would have to wonder why he would do this if it is true.
Age wise, i was wondering if it is so, he may catch a break and get tried as a minor.
But not if he's 18 and knowing the family history.
I think it was an uncle or something that was arrested at one of the games last year for drugs.
If it is true then it was something stupid to do. I hope myself like Indian Dad. One of SWVA's other thousand rumors.

where are the people calling for his head? saying he's an immature little kid and will never amount to anything? where are those people...all i see are people rallying around him hoping it isnt true and some, even if true, wont "write him off"...dont get me wrong, im on his side, i hope he didnt do it and if he did then im not gonna crucify the kid...but the only reason we rally around people like him and not others who get in trouble is because we know them...and we're quick to judge others we do not even know

i personally think if he is guility he needs to be punished. eighteen is a VERY young age to be experimiting with cocaine. I mean weed and alcohol is one thing, but anyone tha knows anything about coke can tell u how dangerious it is.

not really as much of a well-known athlete, as in someone who isnt from this area whom none on this board actually "knows"

I'm pretty sure that VA laws are strict in regards to drugs. As Biggin said if he had it in more than one bag thats automatic distribution right there. This area is bad for drugs and it's getting worse, from what I've seen Meth is starting to pick up around here and that stuff if used everday the user has an average lifespan of two years.

and as for pvfan, he is right as well when he says if you have two bags on you. also if they search you and you have more than fifty dollars on you, that is also noted.

I think some of the thinking on not crucifying him is he is a kid. Not in college.
Just barely out of highschool and i think that is today for Burton. Graudation that is.
Hard to imagine a kid graduating high school and going straight to 10 yrs at ROSP or WRSP. Think about it.

Yeah quite a bit. What situations was Marcus raised around and what means of life did he have?
Some want to cruicify anyone. To me this kid will not get a smack on the hand that Marcus has gotten several times. We don't even know if he has even done anything and you are comparing age and Marcus? Come on now that is ridiculous.

Comparing this kid's situation with Marcus and him having a brother in the pro's. Not even close.

Rumors run rampant around here. People who you think are friends are the main ones who spread them. It is a shame when people love to judge and ridicule. I know from experience. The 4-Way is the worst place for rumors in Dickenson County. Until you know for sure about such charges and rumors, it shouldn't be mentioned. People make mistakes in life, but the shameful part is how people like to cast stones instead of encouragement. We should start a rumor thread, and I bet it would get the most hits.

I think your a good kid 22, but you don't understand alot of what you think you do.

No i thought i would be a big man and i messed up. I went from highschool straight to where Indian_DAD and LPDFTBL work. VADOC. I been there the last 10 yrs. Now i can't get a job. So i guess the system will support me. Until i fall back into problems.
I don't know what the answer is. But do we count ever kid a lost cause.

Yet he has gotten his breaks and he is trying out where.

We will cut one a few breaks and we'll send one to prison. Which one?
You know i try to think about a few things when i look at these kids.
One i was young once, thought i was the man, and knew it all. Two everyone deserves a second chance. Three i don't know everything, and i haven't walked in no one's shoes but my own. How can i say i know when i truly don't, how can i say i understand when i don't.

I so tired of hearing "oh he grew up in the projects and that's all he knows". If someone knocks on my door and hands me a multi-thousand dollar scholarship free of charge common sense should kick in at some point. That's nothing but an excuse. If you're a top notch quarterback playing for a ranked program there's absolutely no reason why you can't keep your nose clean. I don't know what Vick did OFF the field, but I saw enough "punk" in him ON the field to cast my judgement about him. That goes for any college athlete at any school. If they're so immature that they can't represent their university in a positive way, then they don't deserve the opportunity. Comparing these two situations is like apples and oranges. Personally I would've liked to have waited until it was proved true before ruining his life on a message board. Things like that will get this board shut down quickly. I hope and pray he's not involved in this stuff.

IMHO I have little tolerance for this kind of thing and while I hope the rumers are not true if they are through the book at him so that the next kid in that situation will have some idea what kind of trouble he/she can get into

I am sick of hearing, aww so & so's just young and is going to make mistakes. Fooling with drugs and especially cocaine is not making a mistake especially in this day and time there is to much info and anti-drug policy thrown at kids from the time they start school to say that they don't know what the consequences are. If they do it especially in high school or past the age of 15 they are past the age of accountablility for such an offense. This kid is even more accountable since it has been told on here that he grew up around it and has had family that got in trouble for it. I am not condeming him for anything since I know no more than anyone else on here and I will not pass judgement on him till the facts are presented but I do have to agree that he should be held completely lible for his actions if proven true.

If it had you wouldn't have the problem you have with underage sellers. Kid are highly used to sell drugs. Many know this, because they will get lighter sentences. I guess what i am getting to. How do you end it. Or get control of it.
Like i said above i don't know. Do you just lock them all away. And try to find a way to help them or can you help them.
Or will locking them away, just make them worse when they return to the streets.
Something that is eye opening and Indian_Dad can add to this.
The resend rate for the DOC is about 80%, that means 80% of those getting out of prison return.
And 1 out of 136 people in the US, are currently either in jail, on parole or indicted for a crime.
Those are some staggering numbers when yhou look at it.

To me i think to get these young kids attention. You have to get those who are using them and who are teaching them.
For them i think a wake up call would be the boot camps. Being taken from your home and required to changed or face the consequences.
Take a kid out of their habitat for a period of 4 months and see if they will adjust. In time if they don't come around. I think you will begin to see those, who you will eventually have problems with. A one shot deal. Make this work or prison.

I am not condoning anything.
I just think we need to see if things are working. Or if we need to look at other options.
Just my opinion. I dont' know the answer.
But with the figures above. I think it shows the crime rate is not as low as many believe. Of course your gonna get the figures you want if you break it all down to certain crimes.
But if only 20% of inmates making parole are successful, in re-entering life and surviving. And 80% are not. Something isn't working.
People learn to live where they are and in the situations they are in. What happens when that controlled enviroment is no longer there.
I guess what i am asking, is how do you effectively make it work, to improve the numbers and reduce the crimes, and stop others from venturing there.
Other than manipulating the numbers to make it look like it is working.

If 80% are returning to prisons. Something needs to be done. Either they can't make it, when they get out, or we are not making it hard enough.
Like i said i don't the answers and yes i have seen several return to the system. It becomes the only life they know. A controlled environment. That is what is hard to figure out. Is this the only life these people know now.
And if so and their gonna keep returning, then we need to fix something.

An example. One person incarcirated for 3 yrs. makes parole. Is out on the streets for less than a year. Uses an unload gun in a robbery attempt. Comes back into the system with more time and a higher level. This person wanted back in the system and to stay for awhile. Even as hard as it is, it was better than having nothing. I think that is what i am asking. How do you fix this, when that is all some know, and some who have been down since they were 18. Or in and out.

that is a problem with the way this board is set up. You only have a very short time to edit your post before you get a message that tells you the alloted time to edit your post has passed. Something that should be fixed in my opinion because you say something in the heat of the moment that you want to edit out because you see more clearly after some time

First off counts, I posted it as a RUMOR, not as anything close to true, not anything slanderous or defaming.

I have asked several people about what went down. Some say it happend, others say it didnt. Its almost like it either DIDNT happen or its hush hush to the point of trying to get the kid into college without anyone finding out. Im going to go out on a limb and say that it didnt happen. It supposedly went down in Wise and could very well just be some Kelly propoganda(not blaming it on JJK, but there is no love loss there with Lorenzo). There is nothing at this point that leads me to believe that this is true. If I find out anything more concrete then I'll post it.

Also counts, I posted it on this particular forum with the intent for most people not to see it.

Lastly, vt22 norton and newport news are basically the same. We have projects just like they do, we just dont have the same amount nor the monster population. We probably have as many crack dealers per capita as they do.

i think you have to have a harsher punishment for a drug like this. especially if he was selling it.

Alcohol is 1000x more dangerous than marijuana.

Alcohol kills more people every year than all the illict drugs combined, and that includes cocaine and heroin.

that would be a very misleading figure...kind of like saying more people have died from pneumonia than from anthrax, therefore pneumonia is more dangeruous than anthrax

alcohol is MUCH more widely used than cocaine, so of course it causes more deaths

Look at the health effects of alcohol abuse and the health effects of cocaine.

i may be wrong but i still think cocaine is alot more deadly then alcohol. i know cocaine is alot worse on your heart.

Cocaine related deaths have a lot to do with what is actually in the cocaine. Around here, when people do coke, its probably 25-35% actual cocaine, and the rest is junk people put in when they cut it.

So the people around here who "bang" (shoot) cocaine mostly die because their product is not pure, and the impurities kill them.
