Does it sound to you like Haydee Robinson got a nice lil demotion? Couldn't happen to a nicer person.
I will say for what was done to Mr. Frank Gentry years ago. When Basham and company moved this 30 yr teacher from Appy and to Wise. Just because they could.
These changes make me say one thing. Someone finally had the balls to make some needed changes at the top.
I may criticize but i also know when to say H$LL Yeah. Some of those changes, have been a long time coming, and very much needed.
I dont know how she is an administrative role, but she is a very nice person. She may be difficult to work with or get something changed, no clue, but I'll throw out that she is a nice person.
I think she would be a good principal for the middle school. I think Mr. Padgett was one of the best, to bad he had to go
From what I know, her upbringing makes her 'different' to most people, and they take her professionalism and seriousness as maybe being unapproachable. She is one of the nicer people I actually know.
I worked for her for several years and she was always super nice to me. I never found her unapproachable. I told her that she was definitely the best looking Principal I ever worked for. She will do a super job at Coeburn.
Not often that I disagree with you, or Rock either for that matter, but there's a list of folks a mile long that got the shaft from her. But as is the case with all humankind, a person usually has at least as many enemies as they have friends. I thank God that she is not at my son's school, and will cross my fingers and pray that that remains the case.
I think it stinks that Alice Williams was yanked from PVMs and that David Dowdy is taking her place. Alice did awesome things in that school, why send it backwards? Yes, some changes are needed, but many of the ones that are needed, no one had the b@*&s to do anything about.
does anyone one know where Mr. Padgett has gone?
I think he was sent to St Paul as Principal.
I don't understand a lot of the changes myself.
I have never had any problems with HAYDEE,, she is ALL BUSINESS,,
I can see BARTON wanting to get into a new situation,, poor guy is skin and bones and has more grey hair than GEORGE WASHINGTON,,
Don't understand putting DOWDY back into PVHS,,
Noticed PHS and JWAC has new principles, but still need assistants.
and rumor has it PADGETT might be headed to one of those jobs,,, oh well,, seems like a lot of re-construction and some added jobs
I don't agree with the demotion of Mrs Robinson. She is a wonderful person who cares deeply for every single student. To me thats the type of person I would want in a high administrative position. From what I understand she had to apply for her own position as director of instruction. She was the best candidate for Assistant Superintendant and got shafted. To me OUR school board has made some illogical decisions over the past couple of years. I also think if they demoted her on the basis of her upbringing in Cuba, then that shows how many small minded people are still around in this world.
Based on what i've seen from the school board as a future teacher I am not sure that I want to work for them.
Sorry if this rubbed people the wrong way its just my opinion.

I applauded that you have seen the writing on the wall. Although an excellent system as far as the kids go, and as far as their performance on AYP and state testing goes, they do have a little lacking in the personennl departmetn. It is and will always be. . . . . WHO YOU KNOW in this county!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally can not comment on Mrs. Robinson as i don't know her in any form or fashion.
I know many from many areas, had problems with Mr. Dowdy, he seem to go past what his job title was at the Central Office. And in all honesty burned a lot of bridges the past year or so.
Mr. Barton has had problems with sickness, in his immediate family, so the move may be to help him some.
Im not sure some didn't actually ask to be moved. Some i think needed to be moved, due to their failure, to respond to the situations they face. Lack of leadership.
Some moved because they were leaders, and some places needed someone to lead, not just hold a title.
And some i think who become to settled in their positions. And forgot why they got into teaching.
My only question is why do we have to split teachers.
When we lose good teachers, because they have to split a day at Appy and St. Paul, and no one questions why, they leave Wise County. Hmm go figure.
To me that is a far bigger question, than some within a system that needs fixed. From the central office on down.
MR. BARTON WAS ONE OF THE BEST PRIN. I KNOW AND HE LOVED APPY BUT THANKS TO MS. BUSH HE IS GONE NOW BUT WE WILL MISS MR. BARTON A WHOLE LOT NOW EVERYTHING IS RUINED WITH ACKRIDGE AS PRIN. HE WILL OVERUSE HIS POWER
Well now I'm not going to say there isn't people who may have gotten the shaft from her, but sometimes thats doing things right and not being in the good old boy network (we all know that happens). Watch at most places, be they fast food areas or anything, if there is a 'subjective' manner which people get days off, etc, then you'll notice certain people get things and others don't.
It's like most things, its who you know. If there is anything that I could see Robinson having been, its a by the book type, and that may not be what some want sometimes.
(The grocery, fast food reference, etc goes by someone I was talking to who worked a grocery store recently, they had worked like almost every weekend of late and was upset that they never got one while certain people who were friends with the ones making the schedules tended to get at least a day if not more off every weekend)
The way craziefather from Coeburn feels about Mr. Lee is the way I feel about Mrs. Robinson-simple as that. We all know that everybody will have folks that aren't crazy about them. Such is the case here. I'll not go into details on an open forum, but I (and several others) have my reasons. Anybody who knows me personally will tell you that I am a reasonable man. If I don't like you, I have just cause. BTW, I myself know a little about by the book and professionalism. Any of my co-workers will easily attest that I am the epitome of by the book. I do not do good ol boy biz (no place for it where I am). I do however know how to talk to folks, respect them, and treat them decent.
i'm with ya Indian_Dad...
Same here i am with indian dad. i wont go into detail but this woman needs help haha. she is the biggest reason for the NEW holdback rule. when the 11 people from wise held back 2 years ago she wasnt going to let us but where she got her new job as whatever she was she didnt have a say so in it.
what are all the coaching reassignments the KTN mentioned?
I wish PVHS could get rid of Faye Garrison, assistant principal. That woman has way too much of an ego to be in an administrative role, just impossible to deal with. I wish she would find a new career where she doesn't have to interact with other people, because she isn't very good at it.
Not saying I didn't like her. I am moderate as far as what I think of her goes. A family emergency occurred once and coincided with senior skip day and I had to miss school that day and I gave her my excuse and I could have lied and said I was sick but I didn't so she looked at my excuse and had a look of disbelief on her face and said "we can't help that school comes first" and gave me unexcused and my Dad went and he confirmed the truth I told her and she excused it.
A lot of the times she's been nice to me.
But one rule she made in December made no sense and it's not because I didn't like it either. We got a rug that says "Powell Valley Vikings" and she laid it on the floor at the main entrance and said no one could step on it. Why put a rug on a floor if you don't want anyone to walk on it?
I really would like to see Hadey Robinson come to the Wise Primary School, after Dr. Birchfield leaves us after this upcoming year. Ms. Robinson's was a wonderful princpal at the L.F. Addington Middle School, I just wish she would come back to Wise instead of going to Coeburn.
I know I'm a little late with this post, but I feel like I have to throw in my two cents. The fact is that Mrs. Robinson got shafted. I know it's happened to many others in the past (especially with Basham), but she took her share of licks from him too. It just sucks that the new guy is even worse. To take away someone's job and then make them reinterview for it is just downright humilitating. And giving the job to someone who has worked under her for the past three or four is even worse.
I don't know if anybody saw it. But there was an article in the Kingsport Times where she had been voted as an outstanding teacher of the year or something like that. Even if you don't like her or don't agree with her. You've got to admit, what happened was wrong.
