Burton @ Appy. A big Div. 1 matchup.
Appy vs. JIB
Coeburn vs. GC
Clintwood vs. Haysi
JJK vs. Pound
PV vs. Seymore
Those should be some interesting games. Thank for posting them. Actually after last week very interesting. Should tell us a little more of who has what.
Picks...
JIB
GC
CW
JJK
PV
J.J. Kelly versus Pound should be a really interesting matchup.. both teams are looking to earn respect this year, so it should be a hardfought game!
Appy vs. JIB---------------Burton
Coeburn vs. GC-----------GC
Clintwood vs. Haysi-------Haysi
JJK vs. Pound--------------Pound by a touchdown. Kelly will play tough and make a game of it.
PV vs. Seymore-----------PV.
Picks
GC - Still GC and still to much for many teams in the LPD.
CW - The one's the Wave have been waiting to arrive, well they have launched.
JJK - A team who has it. But has to have the players prove it. Time to step up and end the misery guys. Not taking away from Pound, but a game that both programs, will want to win. Should be a hard hitting who wants to win it game.
PV - Most talent on a PV squad since 97 and 98. Guess we will see how far it carries them. And who is up to the challenge.
Burton @ Appy - I don't usually pick when it's Appy playing some one. I will say this. Dawgs better come ready to play. Burton is out to make a statement this year.

[/ QUOTE ] It ain't the Dawg players that are worrin' me- throw the ball on 4th and 2? I'm gonna have to buy a GPS to be sure I'm in Riggs , with this formation change and the attempt at becoming a passing team.
Appy vs. JIB-Burton 30 Appy 21
Coeburn vs. GC-Cate City 42 Coeburn 14
Clintwood vs. Haysi- Haysi 30 Clintwood 14
JJK vs. Pound-I aint going to pick this game seeing that i play for Kelly.
PV vs. Seymore-PV 49 Seymour 21
Appy - JIB Possibly an upset brewing but, I don`t se it happening. I have Burton winning by 2 TD`s on a very emotional night for both teams.
GC - Coeburn Coeburn posseses the skills to give teams fits. If any other team in the LPD can beat GC other than PV this year is their best chance. Although I have it being closer than many expect I have GC winning by 2 or 3 TD`s.
Clintwood - Haysi Big game for both teams come playoff time. Both teams will be pumped, look for a good crowd also. I have this game coming down to the wire with Clintwood pulling it out in the 4th Qtr.
Kelly - Pound More evenly matched than has been in recent years. Pound still a little much for Kelly as Pound wins by 2 TD`s.
PV - Seymore PV better come to play, after last week there`s some questioning going on. Are they really as good as everyone predicted them to be? The next couple of weeks will tell the tale. PV by a TD
I expect that PV-Seymore game to be a close one. PV better be ready to play and ready for that long ride. If they lose that ride back will be even worse.
Burton 28 Dawgs 12
GC 35 Coeburn 14
Haysi 21 Clintwood 13

PV 21 Seymour 20
Raiders 20 Dawgs 14
Blue Devils 42 Blue Knights 6
Greenwave 24 Tigers 21

Good Luck to all this coming weekend. Someone was telling me that the new bleachers would not be done for the home opener for Powell Valley and that they may have to travel against Pound and Breathitt Co. Is there any truth to that?
I'll go out on a limb here and predict this is not true. Just can`t see that happening Going to Breathit would be about the same as coming to Bullit. Both teams fans have to sit on the same side no matter which one they play at.
They mentioned it on the radio friday night, q. They said if the bleacher situation wasn't resolved, they'd have to switch venues.
I heard that also, they mentioned it, as me and UKCats were riding back from Coeburn. We just looked at each other and laughed kind of with a smirk. Just don`t see Phil letting that happen unless he is forced to.
I'm sure that's the thing. A force situation. If you don't have the seating, you can hold the game. I'm sure your old boy Phil, will do everything in his power to make sure the bleachers are in. I'd say it won't be a problem. He may have you out there with a flashlight putting them up at night.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm sure if PV had to travel to Breathitt that PV could make arangements to use Burton's field since Burton will will be playing at Kelly that week
Not meaning this in a "smart" way whatsoever, but why in the world did they wait until football season to do that?
Here we go!!!
Appy vs. JIB - (42-14 Raiders) I hope that Im proven wrong, but sadly enough, I cant see this one going any other way, after what I watched at Riggs stadium last friday night. Regardless of the outcome, I'll be there supporting the dawgs.
Coeburn vs. GC - (49-14 Devils win) Coeburn looked good last week, while Gate City struggled. However theres a big diffrence in playing Richlands, and playing Twin Springs. The devils show they're still one of the Top 2 in the LPD.
Clintwood vs. Haysi - ( 28-21 Tigers ) Haysi beats the greenwave, yet again. Maybe next year, clintwood.
JJK vs. Pound - ( 21-14 Indians) Upset special right here. JJK gets an early LPD win, and gives the Indian fans something to cheer about.
PV vs. Seymore - ( 28-24 PV ) PV will step up in competition big time this week. They'd better realize that they're not playing a door mat this week or this one will go the other way.
Hey GC_Queercy, why don't you come down and put up those bleachers! At least you'll be supporting the cause of a winner for a change! Oh well, here's how it is and will be for Week 2 here in the Ole El-Pee-Dee!

Little Blue Boys of Not-So-Great City @ Coe-Burnt Bleu KA-Nights ? DANG! I haven't heard of the Little Blue Boys getting beat at Lesion Field like that since...well...the last time they played at Not-So-Great City when THE Mighty Vikings sent them to the basketball gym! Burton
GC
JJK
PV
IM not making a prediction on my game.
You are, by far, my favorite poster.
Burton- 32 Appy- 14
GC-28 Coeburn-17
Haysi-32 Clintwood 21
PV-36 SHS-14
Pound- 32 Wise- 14
Burton at Appalachia- The Dawgs were sluggish last week. They knew they were playing a team they were supposed to handle. Having said that, the boys from Appy will be ready to play. Norton knows what this rivalry means as well. This one will be a good one. 28-20 Raiders.
Clintwod at Haysi- this one has a shot at game of the night (what a tough week to pick games). Going with the boys from Sandlick at home 21-20.
Gate City at Coeburn- GC coming off of a shelllacking, Knights coming off of a blowout win. None of this matters-Richlands is state champ material, Twin Springs is terrible. 28-7 Devils win.
Powell Valley at Seymour TN- The Vikes will make Seymour look like Jane Seymour Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman when it's all done. 35-17 PV.
J.J. Kelly at Pound- Kelly's season started less than planned, while Pound got a big win on the road to start the season. It is now or never for my Tribe. It is gut-check time. It's been too long since JJK has beaten anybody in the LPD (except Coeburn). A win Friday night would do wonders for our program. I gotta have a little faith-Kelly 28-21.
Burton at Appalachia
Dawgs will play tough but it won't be enough
Raiders 34
Dawgs 18
GC at Coeburn
Nice win last week by the Knights but it will be a different Scott County team this week.
Blue Devils 40
Blue Knights 14
PV at Seymour
PV will be looking to get their revenge this year and they will
Vikings 28
Seymour 17
Kelly at Pound
Should be fairly evenly matched. I'll give it to Pound at home
Mildcats 21
Injuns 19
Clintwood at Haysi
In the small corner of the world called Dickenson County this is the Superbowl. Haysi will be looking for their 3rd consecutive win against Clintwood and thats something very few area teams outside of PV and GC have been able to accomplish against the Wave. Both teams have some young guys in key positions but for the most part they are talented youngsters. Haysi will sorely miss Josh Yates in this one but the outcome still may come down to a couple of the areas top kickers in Clintwood sophomore Derek Robbins and Haysi sophomore Allen Owens. Both are capable from 40+. Biggest concern in Tigerland is some of the rumors I have been hearing about some of the veteran Haysi leaders talking a little bit too overconfidently and non-chalant in reference to the Clintwood game. Can't take the Wave for granted, they WILL be ready.
Tigers 24

Sounds like Haysi is acting like we did towards them about 5 or so years ago. This game is going to be a slugfest. As opposed to last year, I think the talent level is equal this season. Its going to be who wants it more and trust me, the the Greenwave players, coaching staff, and community want this one BAD.
You row boat, I'll row mine.
