Blackout
Can anyone tell me just WHY that if I lived in Kingsport and got Charter cable, I could get the UT/Air Force game on PPV.
But if I live just 40 miles away in Coeburn, I cannot get the game on PPV from Direct TV.
It makes absolutely no sense. Just like Comcast Sports on Adelphia blacking out the Redskins preseason games. Boggles the friggin mind. In the day and age of 500 channels on satellite and cable, why a person can't watch any game they want is beyond me.
Kingsport is closer to Knoxville than Coeburn, yet Kingsport has the game on PPV and I can't even get a sniff of the video up here. But I can watch UF/UCF or Troy/FSU as much as I want.
Color me fierce orange. Thank goodness for WQUT.

Re: Blackout
We watched FSU/Troy, UF/UCF, and UT/AFA all on Dish Network ppv sittin here on the couch in Coeburn.
Also if you ever have trouble getting games, you can always watch it online through espn gameplan online, the entire week of games is around 20 bucks. It also keeps the games in archives so you can watch the games later if needed.

Re: Blackout
I tried to get the UT/AF game on Direct TV, even called earlier today. Was told the game wasn't available in this area.
-
Re: Blackout
it was blacked out in Tennessee and some surrounding states but you could get it in VA.
-
Re: Blackout
Maybe it was a Dish Network vs. Directv thing, but usually if you can get it on one you can get it on the other.

Re: Blackout
Bob, I was told the same thing. But after the Clemson/BC game ended in OT you were able to order it. I had to miss the first quarter, but saw the rest. I don't know why they had it wrote on the screen "Available In Tennessee Only". As soon as the BC game went off though, that graphic went away and you could order it.

Re: Blackout
I don't understand why the damned Clemsuck/BC game should effect my being able to PAY them to watch a game.
Almost as bad as being forced to watch the damned Titans every Sunday on ch. 11.

Re: Blackout
It didn't really effect it. It just delayed the start of them showing the UT game. If you tried to order it after the BC game, you'd have gotten it. You'd have just missed the first quarter.

What I don't understand is why did it stop them from showing the first quarter? It wasn't on the same channel. Some sort of regional coverage BS?
Unless they're going to give me a discount, no way I would have paid full boat for just three quarters. Bob Kesling isn't that bad.

Re: Blackout
On Direct TV, the BC game was on the same channel as UT, 779.

Re: Blackout
It was the same way on Dish, but where I had the ESPN Gameplan Online, the game was archived so I went back and watched the beginning.
Gameplan Online is a good way to go as long as you have broadband.

Re: Blackout
I think I'm going to check into that. Thanks for mentioning it. I know the UT/Marshall game is supposed to be PPV.

Re: Blackout
You need to watch someone better that UT anyway.
