PV fans spoiled?

I talked about his last year, and I must bring it up again. What is wrong with the fans at PV? Do you suddenly become unable to use your vocal cods when you walk in the gate at a game? This has never been more evident then at the Brethitt game. During the opening drive, the park sounded as if one of the kids got hurt on the field and everyone there was holding their collective breath. I swear it sounded as if the only people cheering were me and Chris Kelly. Whats the deal? Are you afraid someones going to laugh at you if you cheer? No wonder the kids can't get fred up during a game. When they look up and see the fans not supporting them, why should they care. I mean the assistant coaches are on the sidelines BEGGING people to cheer. The cheerleaders ran down the sidelines holding up signs yelling, "GET UP".....with the result of about 10 people standing to cheer. For once, look at the other sideline, or at Chris Kelly, and see what a true fan is suppose to be!
Ok, I know this subject is gonna bring out the "PV people are so stuck up" crap from all the other schools fans. Well, you don't have to tell me, I'm starting to believe it myself. But, there are still a few of us that can get up and cheer!

I can dig that...I sat on PV's side, rooting for Breathitt, and I was cheering louder than most PV fans around me.

I refuse to sit in the stands at a PV game! I feel like I'm at a funeral. You can always find me at the fenceline yelling, where your "true" fans are, the ones that don't come to the game just so they can be seen! PV suffers from the same affliction as Tennessee. Too many old people in the stands who see the game more as a social affair.

I tried to sit in the home stands at PV once. I was there covering the GC/PV game for VaPreps and the press box was full. Tons of empty seats everywhere (about 45 minutes before gametime), I picked one under the press box and sat down. In five minutes time I had no less than three people tell me I couldn't sit there. Ended up watching the game from the PV sideline.

Still no answer to my question, WTF is wrong with you people who sit there and don't cheer for your Vikes? Like stated above, its like being at a funeral. It always seems that Chris ends up sitting right behind me, and we are the only two within earshot that dont mind to get up and support the team.
Seems like the only time the fans can stand or speak is when there is a big bomb for a TD or some outstanding play. What you not-cheering fools don;t understand is, the team is listening for you to get them up when they are having a hard time. Comeon folks, get in the game!

If players need fans to cheer for them to get into a game then what is that saying about the players?

Lot of fair weather fans, and fans that come to just the big games. In 04 first round of the playoffs you would've thought we were playing Twin Springs in the first week of the season or something. Nobody was there, turned out to be a great game to.

I know that I personally have a hard time getting fired up to watch football games. Basketball is way more fun to cheer for, the tempo is faster.

Honestly, PV has way to many fans that are old and conservative. Conservative as in they look at you weird if you get into the game.

U R right.. I can remember when PV fans never shut up from the time we arrived at the park until the final buzzer sounded. Just like 1989 State championship down by 6 with just 58 seconds left and u would have thought we were up by 6 instead of 60 yards from the endzone. Now those were the days........... I remember 2000 down 20 to 0 at halftime against Richlands. We didn't come back and beat them but we lost 20 to 14 and almost came back. Fans were as loud as ever in that 4th quarter. 2004 at Gate City the stadium was loaded. And last play I believe Adam Price of GC threw an incomplete pass. And PV fans roared and that was one of my most exciting times to play the fight song.

I remember some games from when I was younger we couldn't even move an inch.

I think Price was sacked by PHD on the last play.

GC and PV are so alike it is uncanny! I mean both are having fan troubles! Where I sit it seems me and my friend are the only ones cheering and yelling. Everyone else just claps their hands once in awhile and thats it. Over in the Student section it seems like all that are cheering are Quincy and the boys. I was reading about where the "stuident section" doesnt yell thats some bs i lost my voice by yelling.... When i go to the games which i go to every game i lose my voice for about 3 days so yea some of the "stuident section" does still go out for the team...

The same with me, I lose my voice too because of cheering at the ballgames.

I'm one of those people that just sits there and doesn't make a peep.
I dont clap either.
I just don't like to do that stuff.

I think football is exciting and to me it would be hard not cheering and clapping for my team. Even before my son played I was like that. These boys need cheering, there's times the cheerleaders and band do that but nothing is better than the whole atmosphere getting into the ballgame. I love the excitement and the emotions of the fans, given it is not the kind to have you thrown into jail. To me as a parent how could I just sit and not cheer? No I will cheer until the day I die when I am at ballgames. I can't stand to see fans sit on their butt and not cheer in some way.

I guess I dont really get into it because I dont have a kid out on the field, and I'm not exactly the biggest sports enthusiast.
I go to spend time with Indian_Dad and maybe visit with some other folks. I'll hang out with dad some if I go to a Pound game.
