Appy JV

congrats on the win over PV tonight...4-0 on the season so far....looks to me like the dawgs have a lot of talent coming up...

Im proud of those boys.. I'v seen em play a few times and they play hard... They play Gate City tomar though.. It's gonna be there real test to see how good they are.. But i have faith in my Dawgs....

I hope it's not Appy's JV team because Gate City's middle school team (7th & 8th grade) are the ones playing from GC. I don't even know if GC has a JV team this year.

I saw Appy's JV and they are a tough bunch...they physically abused a talented Clintwood JV team a couple of weeks ago.

Gate City doesn't have a JV team this year - only varsity and middle school.

As far as I know most teams in the reagion don't have middle school teams just JV (I could be wrong but I don't think I am)

Gate City Middle
Pennington Middle
Jonesville Middle
Virginia High
Lebanon
Science Hill
John Sevier
Ross and Robinson
Church Hill

I think this year Sullivan North has an 8th grade team, they are on Gate City's middle school schedule.

Of which only GC currently is in Region D

Lebanon & John Battle's feeder schools also have middle school teams as well.

The middle school team at GC is made up of 7th and 8th graders only. The varsity team is all football players in grades 9 through 12.

Currently both teams are in reagon C LOL

In any case I think I kind of like the Idea of Middle school teams I wonder if more schools in our area may take up this practice?

I think we all know they are currently in Region C. That wasn't the meaning behind the post.

One thing I do notice is that within the new district, all five schools will have middle school teams consisting of 7th and 8th graders, which should work well for each school in regards to participation. That was the reasoning behind my post - nothing more nothing less.

Like I said I kind of like the Idea and IMHO it would be nice if most local teams would cash in there JV teams for Middle school teams it would probably workout better

Most of GC's underclassmen are playing on Friday nights. The varsity lineup is predominately made up of sophomores and some juniors. There are freshmen seeing quite a bit of playing time too. I think GC has 1 senior starting on defense and 2-3 on offense, all are on the offensive and defensive lines.

Sounds like Clintwood 1 Senior on D and 2 on O replace Your Jrs with our Freshmen and we are about the same LOL

I know looking at the lineup early in the year Clintwood should return 10 Starters on D next year and return 10 again the year after

so Appalachia's jv team will be playing Gate City's middle school team tomorrow???(the game was moved up to wed. instead of thursday)

That was a good game... Appy held Gate City on their own 1yrd line... Then Allen had 4 carries and 99 and a TD... Then Bush picked up a fumble on d and took it to the house.. Appy played some good ball tonight... They looked real good... They have alot of good backs commin up in the next fear years... Good job tonight boys...

The young man who scored GC's touchdown last night is in the 7th grade. The last season of football he played was Little League/P-Nut.

Does kids play P-Nut league and then not play in another league until they play Junior Varsity football once they get into high school? Is there no league in between these two within the other LPD schools? [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]
