Thought you might find this interesting. A guy that posts on the UT Rivals board posted this a while ago. The guys pretty legit and seems to be a good guy, so I tend to believe him. I don't think he'd make it up. Take it for what it's worth I guess....

I just heard some interesting news about FSU from a Reply

former FSU football player who is a very good friend of mine. He was on the 93 championship team and he says that he and several former FSU players are going to make some kind of reaching out attempt or statement to CBB and ask that he consider some major staff changes for the good of the program. I know several former players who feel that Bowden is so adamant that his son Jeff can be a good OC that he has become blinded by nepotism. Jeff Bowden was a top notch receivers coach, but he is not a capable OC and CBB can not see that. Several players are trying their best to reach out to CBB and talk to him, because many of them are close to him still.

This same player told me that several players have said that if CBB does not make staff changes after this season, many of them and their big alumni money will go to the AD and school and bypass the coach altogether.

This will get ugly before it gets any better.
*PS- I did get his permission to post this but only on the condition that he remain anonymous, so please don't ask me who he is or which other FSU players I know (that is, if you even care...)

Can't wait to see if this really plays out. I get sick and tired of that "good ole boy, nothin' bothers me image." Bobby Bowden would have been a great wrasslin' manager. Just my opinion.

He really needs to get his son out of that OC job. If he had a OC like Cutcliffe or Chow, that team could be out of this world within two years.

He could have been the first coming of Freddie Blassie (or second coming since Blassie is/was a few years older than Bowden).

I mean, he's pushing 80 and the program has become a family affair. Norm Chow? Don't know a lot of football, but wherever he goes, people put up big offensive numbers. Who is FSU's backup QB? Some guy that was announcing a game last year was about to have a cow to get him in the game. Xavier...Haven't seen or heard from him since. I'm not the biggest FSU fan, mind you. Anyhow, Bobby has got to go. Unless he pulls a JoePa and then he can stay. I reserve the right to be indecisive!HAHA

Xavier Lee is who you're thinking of. They're much better off with Weatherford. I didn't think he was that bad last night. IMO, I thought the D kind of gagged at the end. They did give up 3 td passes to a kid making his second start.

I'll be honest, I get bored watching FSU. The only time I think it's fun watching them is against UF and Miami. And that's like watching a Mike Tyson fight, waiting to see what kind of crazy stuff he does next.

I know what you're saying. The last few years it's been a shame to see some of the talent that they've had go to waste (well, maybe not a shame [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] ). Kind of like UT for the last 7 or so years. It's amazing what one coach can do.

Changes are needed there is no doubt about it, it'll prolly have to wait a couple years though.

Bobby is going to need a year like Joe Pa had last year if he wants to be at FSU much longer.

I think it'd be near impossible to get rid of Bowden. He did build the program. I think he'd be alot better off to get rid of Jeff though. If nothing else, make him qb coach or something. He's not an offensive coordinator though.

I think the reason that Diddy Bowden may be hanging around is the whole Paterno/Bowden thing. I think they're both going to hang on as long as possible to try to get that record.

You know, I wonder how much actual "coaching" either one of them does. I didn't know hardly anything (still don't) about how to coach football, but I was older, wiser, and the kids really bought into who I was. So, I was the Head Coach. We had two young football studs, one planned the defense and one planned the offense. They simply briefed me on Monday and we chopped up the weekly game plan to work on in our individual position groups. I had the final say, and I would have had to take the heat, but they actually did most of the "coaching." I wonder if both Bowden and JoePA are really just figureheads who are coaches in name only and spend most of their time fundraising. Don't take this as being critical of either one, but they are pretty old to be in the cauldron of NCAA football.
