Congratulations to the Clintwood players. You guys played hard and deserved the win.
Hold your head high Big BLue!! We are young and are finding our way. We just need to cross over into that next level and once we do....it is going to be scary.

Good job and congrats Green team. And we all know full well, GC will not be down for too long.
Gutsy performance by both squads. After Parks went out it was like Colboro had the wind took out of his sails as far as play calling was concerned.
That was nice of you to say that. We all should take note of this.
I am very proud of our boys. Don't ever give up.

That Estep was a horse. Impressed me.
Yeah the big kid was a good back. Pretty slow though. Nothing compares to Parks' explosiveness and strength.
They were doing pretty good stopping Parks. I thought I saw him play defense the next series, maybe it wasn't him though. I saw Broady ask in another thread how he was, I don't think it was that serious. It looked like a hammy, or a knee sprain. They couldn't do anything with that big back. We can't stop a big back. We were lucky to win with all the penalties and mistakes. Good job to both teams though.
Went to this one (elp6n was doing the Coalfield coverage). Dandy game. Robbins really impressed me. Had a good time talking to Coeburn Cane and his better half (have to look long and hard to find better folks).
And to back up my posts about bad apples, several folks from GC really made [censored] out of themselves at this one-women screaming f-bombs, a fan having to be pulled away from the refs after unleashing a flurry of vulgarity that would make a sailor blush, not to mention the crap that elp6n had to deal with on the GC sidelines (moved to Clintwood side to take pics, and things were much better)
Jason: I see what you were saying: I have never seen fewer and weaker GC fans-was in disbelief. You had 5 in the crowd corner begging the fans to get off their [censored] and cheer on the boys. Had 4th-down plays where the crowd should have been up urging the defense, and it was so quiet I could have heard the blades of frozen grass crinkle if I had sprinkled on them. I have never seen a GC team not block either till tonight.
Congratulations to Clintwood... I picked Gate City over Clintwood 28-14 in Burrhead's thread (I think he started it) so I definitely wasn't expecting the Wave to pull it off!
Robbins or Robinson? Robinson is number 8. Robbins is the kicker. They both played extremely well.
Congrats to the Clintwood players and coaches i didnt make it to the game but from the sounds of what i heard on the radio both teams played there hearts out. Congrats to both teams!!
Very good game! Congrats to the Wave.
I'm not a Gate City fan, but I would have like to seen them win over Clintwood. Clintwood should continue to have a good team for the next couple of years. And, I have no doubt that fans in the Region D have not seen the last of Gate City. There is such a long tradition there and I'm sure they'll be back on top soon.
Keep in mind I'm a PHS graduate and have no attachment in any shape or form to CHS or GCHS. These observations come from me being on completely neutral ground.
I heard from the GC side words that should never be spoken in public. I heard women cuss like sailors. I heard a man threaten the ref - called him everything in the book, plus a few I'd never heard. I photographed him mid-rant. I should post his pic so he can be outed lol. I heard GC coaches and players calling the refs "clintwood refs" it was all "homecooking" "crooked refs." I told Indian_Dad I think I heard the GC fans/players/coaches yell "home cooking" no less than 947 times in the first half.
When you're standing on the field working, and the people immediately behind you (and women at that) are screaming obscenities in both your ears, that's too much. I personally am one to let people know I'm offended by their behavior and I did as such tonight.
I dont know if all I saw/heard while on the GC is appropriate for public but if I was from GC I'd be completely ashamed. Unfortunately the kids are learning and starting to emulate this behavior.
I did move to the CHS after the half and the only issue I had was working around the coaches who tended to hang out on the field, and trying to stay out of the endzone, where the finer GC fans with the "fine vocabulary and great social skills" were hanging out.
I will explain one more observation: End of the 4th. 14-14. CHS is on their feet, players amped up, everyone yelling..... and GC fans sitting with their hands in their laps. Way to get your team worked up guys....
I thought I saw you out there with a red sweater on.
I heard the same kind of comments in the little league baseball field parking lot after the game. A big gaggle of them spouting off, cursing, making complete fools of themselves. Luckily (for them), they had nothing to say to me.
Dang, I wish I'd been with you.
The guy that called the ref everything in then book and then some apparently had to be restrained from getting to the ref & then carted off by law enforcement.
It was just little old me in green.
I'm glad to see you kept your clothes on, as it was suggested you'd be streaking.
I was out there in a red shirt & red jacket.
Short person. blonde hair. big camera.

Classy.
They've got too many bad apples over there. I met Jason tonight and you couldn't have met a better fellow. I've met Observer and he was the same. Nothing but a good fellow.
Wild Bill and broady are very nice. And Wild Bill is very large!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure they have some great folks, but wow the bad eggs were really showing themselves today.
A couple of the lovely ladies screaming the F-bomb and B.S. in my ear shut up after I put the camera down, turned around and looked them straight in the eye. They started up again after I moved on though.
I saw you out there. I thought you were one of the coach's kids. Dang, you are childlike in appearance!!!!!!!!
thanks??

Better than being called old... or worst of all: "ma'am"
I've met you before, but you had the Goldilocks appearance tonight. Not a bad thing wittle girl!!!!!!!!!
Good job Wave. Heavy surf. Money says Clintwood gives JI Burton all they can handle. May not win but still.
Have Wise first. They always give Clintwood fits.
Forgot about Wise.
Clintwood should beat them.

This has to be the wourst year I have seen for fan support and a GC team not blocking. I dont think we will win another game. I believe the corner that was begging the fans to cheer was where I was at. I was the one with the horn that blew constantly while we was on defense and surrounded by all the cow bells.
It was good to meet Burrhead, Ironlung, Counts, and Jimmy tonight. Congrats to Clintwood on their victory.
Yeah, i also met jason tonight. He seems like a nice guy. Sorry for not getting to talk to much jason.

Hey thats alright I knew you was wanting to celebrate!
Clintwood helped their chances of making the playoffs.
But with all the views you'd think it was the first big game they had ever won.
It was two good young teams. Some seem surprised and some seem shocked.
And yet with a few with all the hate toward GC. Even the GC faithful said early on this was a year they would be young.
I guess you really need to know your football and your team.
To bad some don't.
Good win Wave and GC fans good job knowing your program.
By comparing #'s in the program to the players on the field, they weren't as young as I thought. It seems like they were senior dominated on the line. There skill players were all underclassmen for the most part.
By the crowd Bobby, you'd think there was a basketball game tonight. Both sides were pretty sparse. And yes it was a big game. Can't go back, but I'd like another shot at them Dogs with Robinson at tailback!!!!!!!!!!!!
But compared to most GC teams still young and growing.
I know it's hard to admit and it was a good win.
Two young programs. Give a little credit to both.
And i have to say those i know from GC, have told me this was a year they would be young at many positions.
So take it how you want.
To me i take it CW won a big game in their division. GC's true fans know their program.
I was thinking that earlier. At the start of the season we were saying that we'd be down this year, and that if anybody beat us they'd better do it this year because of the youth. It almost ignited World War 3 in here. Hopefully now folks will understand that we were being brutally honest. They'll rebound down the road and the program will be back.
Dont' forget Quincy this is the LPD forum. Honesty on here won't get you to far.
As i said earlier good win for CW and a shot now at the playoffs with some help.
GC will have to win out i think for a shot now. And that may become a points issue.
Nothing hard to admit. It was a good game and both teams played hard. I just thought they were starting a bunch of freshmen. I didn't see any. Like I said the linemen were all jr's and sr's from what I remember. I definately don't think they'll be down for long either. I've been one of the ones on here singing their praises and saying people were underestimating them all season. They may be young by there own standards, they're no where near as young as I thought they were. I noticed they only dressed 39 as well. That's a far cry short of there usual average
Is that any reason for lack of fan support. Ole Toby would be heartbroken.
