Does anyone know the score on the powell valley game?
PV-Honaker still scoreless
Raiders up 13-0 on Castlewood
Appy leading Ervinton
Haysi up 10-7 at half over Clintwood
LET'S GO LPD!
PV 20 Honaker 7 4:54 to go in 2nd quarter.
Make that 27-7 PV. Honaker fumbled and PV recovered at the 32 and a few plays later they took it in.
PV has scored off of 3 Honaker miscues.
33-14 PV leads at halftime.
Honaker came back to score with 0:37 left, which was set up by a good kick return by them. Then PV comes right back and scores again. PV went 4 plays in 60+ yards in 24 secs on that drive.
C'mon blue
Anymore scores?
It's still the same score with about 3 minutes left in 3rd quarter.
Honaker just had a good drive going, got down inside the 10, but was stopped on 4th and 2 and PV took back over.
Thanks. LETS GO BLUE!
Score? I'm sure it's getting close to the end of the game.
PV leads 40-14 6:00 left in game.
Thanks man.
Score should be final about now shouldn't it?
And that's a final now. Again, PV 40 Honaker 14.

Good...if you don't have anything good to say, shut the [censored] up.
I was at the game and Honaker did run the ball well against Powell Valley's defense. I'm pretty sure that it will show when it comes out in the paper as well - not that it mattered if PHD made mention of it or not. Honaker's Ball is a horse - probably had over 200 yards rushing himself. Honaker was just undermanned and were visably wore down when they went into the locker room at halftime. They'll be a tough out come next year, as they return most of their team from my understanding.
Also, Powell Valley could have thrown the ball on Honaker all day long - as the coverage just wasn't there. In some critical 3rd and short plays, the Honaker defenders were lining up 5-8 yards off of the PV receivers. Short passes for Mitchell were just pitch and catch as if they were playing in someone's back yard.
The PV-Clintwood game on the artificial turf of UVA-Wise will be very interesting to say the least - in how Clintwood defends the pass as well as Mitchell running the ball out of the spread.
One thing of note, they announced Happy 16th Birthday to the Pinkston twins. What current grade are these two young men?

Myron is a freshman and Malcolm is a sophomore.
When Myron is a senior, all I can say is WATCH OUT!
I thought Honaker ran the ball well particularly in the first quarter...at least, consistently. They had numerous players playing both sides and it eventually became too much for them. #22 is a hoss, but not enough players to keep him rested. And boy, did Murphy put a hit on him! PV best find a deep man on defense or they will be exploited by a good passing offense. If I was coach, I would put Addison back in there at safety. He's played the position better than anyone thus far.
Myron is a bull. If he keeps his head on, and receives good instruction, he will likely be a record-breaking back by his sr. year.
Once again, I found the weak side of the defense vulnerable. Hopefully some changes forthcoming...nah, probably not.
Was basically my analysis of the game. Our Offense plays better and better as each game goes by, and Myron is a haus! Our Defense was slightly exposed tonight, and if PV was to make it to half state, Giles has some big ol boys, much bigger than the boys from Honaker.
I wouldnt call it a knock by PHD, Ball is just a really good back and their line is as big as I have seen this year, no knock by PHD or on the Vikings, its just the truth, they have a good running team with the 2 things you need. Honaker played well, but PV is just better overall, I wouldnt call it a "warning sign" or a "red light" a team doesnt get into the playoffs without doing something well. PV could have thrown all day against the Tigers, something they should have done against Burton as well, but anyone who has watched the last 5 PV games can see we are watching something special in Myron Pinkston, dont sleep on Malcom either, his ankle injury has hampered him. Looking like all that hype PV got, is coming to fruition by maturity. Like I said, people skated on them earlier in the year, Ill trade 2 non-LPD losses for the season they are having, Burton played better in their game and won against the Vikings, but still isnt the irony heavy the kicker who beat PV misses against CWOOD and they lose, shew.
PV still is weak on the run, but things have improved.
I don't think Honaker would have had the yards rushing if Tim Thomas hadn't waited forever to place more than 5 in the box. Once they did, Honaker was pretty much stymied. Shouldn't take forever to make an obvious adjustment. But then again, probably wasn't Tim's call...Phil has to make all calls!
I guess so, I dont think it mattered as much. Honaker just ran the ball well, its what they did best or do best.
Speaking of Myron, since you were there at the game, did you see that one play where he ran it up the middle and nearly pushed through the entire pile? It looked like he was just about to make it out of the pile, but one of the guys finally took him down just as he was coming out.. but I swear I thought for a second that he was actually going to come out of the pile and break loose for a touchdown!
IMO, the Vikings have more individual talent than any other team in Region D. If they had come together early in the season, they could have produced a really special team this year. Maybe it's not too late.
Honaker played hard and was well coached, but I don't think they should have ran the ball as successfully as they did against the PV defense. It seems that this years' Vikings just don't execute consistently. They Vikes' D backs and linemen were much quicker than the Tigers' O, yet they often ran themselves out of the play or guessed wrong. Maybe it's the calls the defensive coaches are making but I suspect it is just lack of proper execution. But let me add, I do think the Vikings defense is playing better now than earlier this season.
Have you seen Giles this year? What do they have?
You referring to the quick whistle play?
Giles is loaded and whether it be CW or PV that advances next week, they are going to have their hands full.
PVs defense is playing well, and better with each game...at least for the past 5 games. However, they are vulnerab;e at safety and on the weak side.
And if I was a coach, I would like to see more enthusiasm and fire from my players. Most docile team (and crowd) I've ever seen.
PV's defense is awful. They have no quickness. No penetration. If there is a PV/ Giles game, it'll be pretty friggin ugly. Giles rolls to another state title.
Wouldn't call them awful, but certainly not great. And any defieiciency they have I place entirelyon the shoulders of weak coaching. They have the talent if someone would take the initiative to play the players who are best and forget the god sons and wealthy. Play the best players and leave the rest on the sidelines!
Giles will march up and down on either CW or PV's defense. It makes no difference.
To place the fault squarely on the coaching staff is incorrect. The defense just isnt very athletic.
wouldn't bet on that. The single wing is fairly easily defensed with the right discipline. But not discipline it can turn ugly quickly. But if ragsadale can beat Phil by 50, I'm sure he will.
I cant wait to see the games saturday, which I think PV will win, that being said, I cant wait to watch PV make many posters on this forum eat the crow.
what crow? the only ones who have put down pv's team this year have been their own fans bitching about the coaching.
