They physically dominated us from the tipoff..
The score was bad though. prolly 70 somethin, 30 somethin..
Cousin called me on the way home from Gate City, said it was GC over Coeburn 78-40 in varsity boys and GC over Coeburn 78-19 in varsity girls.
He basically said what bkbasketball had to say in his last posting in so many words.
I guess the size we lost last year is really hurting us... Who's are big guy this year?

Good wins for both Norton and Gate City. Both teams cleared a couple of hurdles last night.

GATE CITY ? The Gate City Blue Devils came out fast in the first quarter, outscoring Coeburn 20-2, and never looked back in a 77-18 victory Wednesday night.
"We pressured them early and got some easy buckets," said Gate City coach Hugh Godsey. "It was a good win for us the kids were anxious to play."
Gate City continued strong in the second quarter and led 34-9 at halftime. Senior forward Haley Odle, who was 7 of 9 from the floor, led the Devils with 15 points. Ashton Bishop hit 5-of-8 shots and scored 12.
The Blue Devils outrebounded Coeburn 35-13, with Musick pulling down seven offensive and two defensive boards.
Gate City (10-2), (5-0), used the entire team in the game. "Our bench plays a big part in our success," said Godsey.
Coeburn (1-9), (0-5) was led by Freshman Catherine Nixon with seven points.
"We were outmanned and out-gunned," said Coeburn coach Steve Coollins. "Gate City has a lot of ways to attack you."

Gate City scored 17 unanswered points to go up 22-6 at the in the second quarter, and the Blue Knights never recovered.
Gate City (7-4), held the upper hand at halftime 39-18.
"Gate City's pressure wore us down," said Coeburn coach Jeff Adkins. "We were drained both physically and Mentally."
Junior Jamie Hackney led the scoring with 15 points, Cody Salyer and Nick Collette followed with 14 points each.
"It helps ease the pressure on Tihlee Anderson and Jamie when we can get four guys scoring," said Gate City coach Scotty Vermillion. "If we can keep this kind of effort going it will help tremendously."
Sophmore Andrew Adkins led the Blue Knight scoring with 11 points. Nick Jennings added eight.
