Ever considered Your Retirement

How do most of you plan to retire and live. After retirement? A part time job? Invested wisely. Got it all figured out?

A question i read in a newpaper. With most companies not paying for health ins. once you leave them. And most individuals having to pay their own. At 400 - 600 bucks a month for just health insurance, before medicare kick in. Which the age keeps going up on.

How do you retire early and not have to go back to work. Or at least part time work. Just to pay for medical insurance. After you have done your time working.

A good question.

Any on here working on it or got any ideas. It's not as far away as it seems.

I am still young, 27, but I have made several strides to plan for my retirement. In my line of work my company doesn't pay for a 401K or any type of retirement so it is all up to me. I am in the process of purchasing some real estate for investment purposes and will probably receive a couple of pieces of property from my family when they pass on so that is my plan for retirement.

Welp, the D.O.C won't leave me rich (about 1600 a month). That's why I am glad that they do deferred comp. If I put in $50 a paycheck, I get $100 back.

LOL I plan on working till I die [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] Not got much of a choice since my only retirement it a non matching 401K that I can't pump enough money into to actualy ever really retire......That leaves me with 3 options 1) Win the lottory [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] 2) hope one of my kids becomes rich and suports me [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] or 3) die before I run out of money which given my famley history will probably be my best option LOL

Same here. I guess I will just have to become a profesional Bass fisherman since that is something I can do for a long time.

Im only 20 years old but have alreay begun a Roth IRA account. Most of my investments are in mutal funds. Returns about 12% annually which is pretty good. Got a part-time job the summer I graduated high school actually making pretty decent money and have been lucky enough to be able to work and go to college at the same time. I already had a decent vehicle paid for, so my parents said instead of wasting my money on a bunch of crap I didn't need that I should start an account, so I did.

With Social Security and Medicare quickly becoming a black hole, starting a private retirement account is the smartest way to go IMO. Much bigger returns than say a 401k or just relying on Social Security.

I know just what things i have right now. It looked promising. But with the constant increases. It don't look as good as it did.
Right now based on the calucations for the next 15 years and retiring without being old enough to be on Medicare and drawing Social Security.
Probably looking at just living and that is it. No luxury retirement like most wish for.
The estimate right now in 15 - 20 years is right at 3,800 - 4,800 dollars a month for two people. This is based on one persons income also. Not if two had some kind of retirement plans.
Post retirement income. And before medicare and social security if it's still around.
I found that a little alarming.

With the way the world is going now I don't see myself being around long enough to consider retirement.

True, so I will just use that to get to the Elite Series.

Guess I will have to try and do something with the 300 acres that I am gonna be getting from the in-laws, maybe build a few houses and rent them out.
