My vote goes to Troy Aikman
My vote goes to Tom Brady.
But you cannot ignore Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, John Elway or Troy Aikman either.
The thread is NFL Greats so I am going with not who played the longest, but you had to at least be in the league. With that said, my vote goes to:
RYAN LEAF! His last year at Washington State was a good one!
HAHA.......Aikman and Bradshaw get my bote as Co-# 1's. With Brady making it a trio once he retires (by then he might be the only #1)
If you look at the record books: Dan Marino
If you look at success: Joe Montana
One name says it all.
It starts with J and ends with ohn Elway.
I have to go with Staubach but I am prejudice.
I believe I am going to go with Joe Montana in the past but when all is said and done in his career Peyton Manning will be the greatest QB ever to suit up.
Tom Brady is a great QB and will be one of the best of all time. But Aikman is the best of all time.
Dan Marino if going by numbers. I think that Manning will eventually break most of his records tho.
Going by wins id have to say Montana or Brady.
Just going to throw another name out there Brett Favre. He has had a lot of success and has played in like 220 straight games.
Elway hands down. He may not have had the success or records others had, but he had as much, if not more, heart and determination as anybody else. But I guess being a Denver fan makes me a bit biased.
hard to start a team from scratch and have your pick of QB's and not take Elway. Favre, Brady, Marino, Manning, Kelly, Moon, Bradshaw, Aikman, Stauback; Montana, Young.......the list can be a lot longer (I even think Boomer and Bernie where very good QB's but they played at the wrong time) but Elway would be my pick. doesn't he have the most 4th quarter comeback's? If he only had a running game he might have ended up with 4 or 5 rings but that could be said for Marino too I guess. I'm a big Steeler fan and was always a huge Marino fan, I think Manning is maybe the most "football smart" guy to play the position but till Brady does it for 12 years I'll go with Elway.
Elway had Terrell Davis for a couple of years. He was a good back in his day.
Yeah, his 2 superbowl years. that was my point, if he had a top running back in his earlier days what could have happened?
I thought that he had him for more than just those two years.
TD wasnt anything better than good, their line made their team, not to mention their awesome D.

i dont care what kind of line you have or dont have, tell me that isnt better than good.
You got a point! Those numbers aren't to shabby!
jamal lewis had a better season than that in 2003..
True, but he also didnt have a ring tho when he had his numbers. Edge = TD
And Lewis had tha Ravens D. So there is both of those arguments out the window. No better than good? NO WAY! Id say no less than good! Especially the Super Bowl years!
How about ammending that question with "that you saw play?".
Roger Staubach, hands down....and that covers 45 years worth of QBs. The amazing thing about RS was that he spent what could have been some of his best NFL seasons pulling his tour of duty with the Navy. That makes what he did all the more impressive. Walt Garrison, former Cowboys running back talks about Roger's drive to be the best in his book "Once A Cowboy". He said that no matter what anyone else did, Roger tried to do more. 100 sit-ups? Roger would do 125. 100 push-ups? Roger would do 125. While Roger was definitely not the most gifted athletically speaking, he made up for it with heart. The fierciest competitor I've ever seen. He was a presence on the field, and a leader in which his coaches, players, and fans had all the confidence in the world to do everything he could to win the game. Roger hated losing with a passion, which is why he was such a winner. If his career hadn't been shortened by the fact he did spend those first eligible years in the Navy, and the fact that his many concussions led his wife to demand "No more" and cause an early retirement, he would probably hold every QB record worth keeping.
