Vick will apparently be exonerated
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was not carrying marijuana or another illegal substance at the Miami airport and will be exonerated, league sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Sunday.
On Wednesday, Vick surrendered a water bottle to security at Miami International Airport that authorities believed smelled like marijuana and contained a substance in a hidden compartment. Vick was not arrested and was allowed to board his flight to Atlanta.
When reached by The Associated Press on Sunday, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello wouldn't comment on the report.
Miami police had said it could take weeks to decide whether charges would be filed against Vick, a three-time Pro-Bowler.
A Falcons team source confirmed that the team expects to hear something formal by Monday.

Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
No matter what happens, 80% of people will still think the Vick's are still [censored] and thugs. I know I do. It will be funny as hell when he gets benched for a UVA boy...... Ok that won't happen but it should.

Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
He is a thug, his brother is a thug. just because one time the cops got it wrong don`t change that. You know as well as I do him and his bro are always into trouble, just lucky this time they wernt caught

Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
You realize that othe rpeople in this world went to Virginia Tech besides yourself correct? You do realize that Virginia Tech did not open the year you enrolled, that maybe just maybe some people actually went to college with he and his brother. I visted a neice of mine in Blackburg and ate at Dietrick (or however its spelled) and sat across from a guy with the name Vick.

Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
Talked to several that went to Tech with him as well.
Most thought he was a pretty level headed guy, with all the fame and attention he got. Never heard that said about Marcus but Mike wasn't really viewed that bad.
So he was sexual active (and got infected) and he threw a bird. I'm guessing that if we punish everybody who did that, we would be severely laying into people.
Like I said originally, the story sounded 'off'. Doesn't mean he was completely innocent but I don't know many people who get front page news for something 'smelling funny'. Shoot, he could have been in a room where someone has incense that smelled like Marijuana and imagine the news then.

Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
Just because he attended the almighty VT that you eat sleep live and crap for, doesn`t make him perfect. Everything to do with VT on this forum has 90 posts from you defending them. Your posts are also so biased it`s rediculous. Honestly, it gets old. I'm not going to argue with you over VT because it`s not worth the time, you think it`s some great school or something, and they never do wrong. But continue enlightening us with your VT posts on everytime someone moves up there or who takes a crap in what stall, and keep on, right or wrong, defending everything to do with VT.
But back to the subject he and his brothers are thugs on and off the field, from their obscene hand gestures and unsportsmanlike play on the field, to the off the field incidents. Let me know when we see either Marcus and Michael in the news for something good or productive they`ve done
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
I've not seen too many level headed players fighting with fans and showing obscene gestures.
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
weren't you supposed to bring up what Michael has done wrong off the field??
ya know? the thing that would take you all night...or is it you have nothing and are tryin to cover it up by makin it about me?? yeah, i think that's it
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
i said marcus and michael in my post. You said the name Vick so if I brought up "Vick`s" run ins with the police i would be here all night. read my post

Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
haha so in a thread about michael you're gonna put marcus' run-ins...this thread is about michael...now how long is your list on him?

Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
Ok then,
If you're wanting to argue about facts with the Vick brothers, the wiki articles for both list their series of violations. Of course, Marcus is clearly much more of a moron than Michael, but Michael has had a few bad run-ins himself.

[ QUOTE ]
Controversy in Morgantown
The 2005 season, however, saw more controversy surrounding Vick. On October 1, 2005, Vick angered fans and press in Morgantown with a display of his middle finger to the crowd during the game at West Virginia University. Vick later apologized and made no further comments.
----------------
Gator Bowl Stomp
Vick once again courted controversy on January 2, 2006, when he intentionally stomped on the leg of Louisville defensive end Elvis Dumervil with a cleated foot during the 2006 Gator Bowl. Following the game Vick claimed the stomping was accidental and asserted he apologized to Dumervil after the game. Dumervil and Louisville coaches said that Vick didn't even talk to Dumervil after the game. Virginia Tech Athletic Director Jim Weaver issued a statement from the university on the incident:
"The unsportsmanlike conduct of quarterback Marcus Vick in yesterday's Gator Bowl game against Louisville is unacceptable behavior and contrary to the Hokies Respect Campaign. Such on-field action is not reflective of Virginia Tech football nor of the values we hold at Virginia Tech. I and my colleagues in central administration are embarrassed and this athletic administration will not condone such acts of unsportsmanlike conduct. We will review and assess this incident further and deal with it accordingly."
-----------------
After an additional report four days later revealed that Vick was cited on December 17, 2005 for a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license, Virginia Tech announced his permanent dismissal from its football program "due to a cumulative effect of legal infractions and unsportsmanlike play." In response to being thrown off the team, Vick has been quoted as saying, "It's not a big deal. I'll just move on to the next level, baby."
-----------------------
Vick declared his eligibility for the NFL draft on January 7, 2006. Two days later he was charged with three counts of brandishing a firearm, a Class One misdemeanor , in Suffolk, Virginia. A police report stated that he allegedly pointed a gun at a 17-year-old and at least two of his friends in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in the 62-hundred block of Town Point Road in Suffolk. It has been reported that Vick approached the group of teenagers after his girlfriend told him that someone from the group had made disparaging remarks towards her. Vick claimed that the "gun" in question was actually a BlackBerry cell phone that was mistaken for a gun and that his accusers were trying to blackmail him. Marcus Vick was convicted and received a six month suspended sentence for this incident.
Vick was recently sued for $6.3 million by a 17-year old girl for reasons including fraud and sexual battery upon a minor. The unnamed girl claims that when she was 15 (below the legal age of consent) and a student in high school, she engaged in a sexual relationship with Vick, who was 20 years old.
------------
Continuous Legal Troubles
On December 14th, 2006, a 17 year old girl from Montgomery County, Virginia, filed a civil lawsuit against Marcus accusing him of sexual battery upon a minor, fraud, and additional charges. The lawsuit also alleges that Marcus and the girl had a nearly two year long sexual relationship and alleges Marcus offered to provide her alcohol and marijuana and asked her to have sex with other men. At this point, it is unknown whether any criminal charges will be filed in connection with these alleged incidents.

[ QUOTE ]
Vicks series of off-field incidents, and perceived lack of maturity and leadership has led to increased calls for the Falcons to cut ties with the quarterback, despite the financial implications to the team.

Ron Mexico controversy
In March, 2005, a woman named Sonya Elliot filed a civil lawsuit against Vick alleging she contracted genital herpes from Vick and that he failed to inform her that he had the disease. Elliot further alleged that Vick had visited clinics under the alias "Ron Mexico" to get treatments and thus knew of his condition. This led to a number of fans ordering customized #7 Atlanta Falcons jerseys with the name "Mexico" or "Herpes" on the back. Due to the media interest surrounding the case, the National Football League disallowed the use of the jersey/name combination two days after the lawsuit.
On April 24, 2006, Vick's attorney revealed that the lawsuit had settled out of court with an undisclosed settlement. [3]
Video game developer Midway Games has alluded to Vick and his Ron Mexico alter-ego in their 2006 title, Blitz: The League. Due to Midway's loss of the National Football League license (EA Sports now has exclusive NFL licensing), all teams and players in the game are fictitious. However, the "Washington Redhawks"' star quarterback is a mobile, left-handed passer named "Mike Mexico".
-------------------------------
Obscene gesture incident
After a Falcons loss to the New Orleans Saints in the Georgia Dome on November 26 2006, Vick made an obscene gesture at Atlanta fans, holding up two middle fingers.[4] Vick has said, "I'm sorry and I apologize to all the young kids and to whoever saw me make that gesture. I just let my emotions get the best of me in that situation and it won't happen again." On November 29 2006 he was fined $10,000 by the NFL for his obscene gesture, and agreed to donate another $10,000 to charity. Vick split his charity donation to two separate causes. He gave $5,000 to the family of a local fireman who died fighting a fire Thanksgiving night 2006. He gave the other half to the Warrick Dunn Foundation (which helps support single mothers).

Suspicion at Miami airport
On January 17, 2007 Michael Vick reluctantly surrendered a water bottle to security at Miami International Airport that contained a residue "closely associated with marijuana," police said. The Falcons' quarterback entered a concourse that morning at the airport with a 20-ounce bottle that was found to have a hidden compartment that contained "a small amount of dark particulate and a pungent aroma closely associated with marijuana," the Associated Press is reporting. The compartment was hidden by the bottle's label so that it appeared to be a full bottle of water when held upright, police said. No charges have been filed, but police said the bottle would be sent to a lab for analysis.

And as we all now know, the "Miami airport" controversy has been laid to rest, but I found this (the first one) to be the most interesting:

you do know wikipedia is written by any Joe Schmo who wants to right??
so i see one off the field incident, being that Vick didn't use a condom...i say we hang him

So my question to you. Is Marcus a thug?

Yes, but I also know that each violation (on those pages) is paired with numerous sources.
If there were no sources, I wouldn't even bother looking at it.
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
simple answer, yes...but the kid is just lost and made bad choices...probably have different definitions of "thug"
my question to you...where's your long list on Mike?
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
numerous sources who apparently are wrong...he wasn't and never will be charged in this incident, but yet it's made national news

That's true, but the article referring to the Miami airport "incident" is titled [ QUOTE ]
Vick water bottle at airport may have had marijuana.
[/ QUOTE ]
If he wouldn't have hesitated to dispose of the water bottle, none of this would have even happened. And what's with the secret compartment they were talking about? I guess that's just his own fault.
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
no my question is why has it already made national news? Would it not be this way for any other player?
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
sounds like he asked to take the water bottle onto the aircraft since nothing was in it, they said no, so they had a conversation about it and then he threw it away
does that even make anyone look twice if it's not Mike Vick??
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
would it make national news on CNN if Matt Schaub did the same thing? no...it wouldn't
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
because he don`t have the reputation of being a thug. My whole point
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
hahaha you can guarantee if Peyton Manning, Tom Brady or Drew Brees did the same thing it would be national news...but they'd be quick to do a retraction once proved otherwise
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
Indeed, I can agree with that.
Though he doesn't have a long list of crimes against him, Michael Vick is (and yes, unfortunately) commonly viewed as a "thug," and the reputation of his idiotic brother obviously hasn't helped things.
Just the honest truth. I don't hate Michael Vick, but I don't like him all that much, either. It's just personal preference, and in the end - to be 100% honest - it doesn't matter and it won't change a thing. He's still getting paid to play football: something nearly all of us could only dream of doing.

Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
how is he a thug?? because he's in the spotlight?
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
No, just his image has been tarnished in various ways. Just as RollTide sees him as a thug, and I somewhat see him as a thug, and many others probably do as well. It's just a bad image that has been cast over time. He's not necessarily a bad person or even a bad player, he's just both lucky and not so lucky - again, in various ways that even I can't begin to explain.
-
Re: Vick will apparently be exonerated
so you'll admit you see him as something he is not?
