Something that just rubs me the wrong way

I've seen people get on here and complain about their financial situation and not being able to afford school and the government needs to do more for them. Its the republicans fault that I cant afford school this that and the other. All the while they can afford to buy super bowl tickets, a plane ticket, and hotel tickets, but all the while the government should do more for them.

This is a prime example of what is wrong with America today. Everybody wants to point the finger to the government or some political party just to make themselves feel better about being irresponsiable.

The money for collage I can go both ways on so long as lones are avalable IMHO students who are motavated should be just fine but it would have been nice not to start off in debt the way I did after collage

I'm not at all impressed with his gambling winings. He gambles with poker, I gamble with the stock market, you decide which is smarter and more secure. Im 20 years old and work a part-time job, if I needed money I wouldn't be in school working an $8 an hour job. I can live with my parents and I have the advantage of being able to invest all of my money that I want. Im not wasting it doing something stupid and bragging about it to beat all, and then turning around and wanting the government to pay for my school. I'm tight as bark on a tree with my money because I actually work for it. I just take offense to people saying one thing and then doing another.

But when somebody says in a political argument that they cannot be a republican because they cant afford to, and they describe their occupation as being a gambler, then I have no sympathy for them and I will call them out on it.

What do you suggest you do with that five dollars? Save it? Why, he has no job, no food, no money, etc..., so why not take a risk and try to better your life?

5 dollars wont get you [censored] in the stock market, but in the REAL WORLD, which I am not sure you are from, five dollars at a blackjack table or a lottery ticket may turn into 100, or 1000, or even more.

Im not intending to critisize your lifestyle at all. You are entitled to do whatever the hell you want with your money. But I just had a problem with the "Im a democrat because I cant afford to be a republican comment." It just bothered me and I wanted to say something about it.

I cant afford to, I've made 8K the last 6 months off of online poker, theres not another job I could get where I could make better than that right now. So, no I cant afford to be a republican, 16K a year is not a lot of money and thats what I'm on pace to make. For me it's great money, and if not for my parents I'd only have 6K left after paying for school. There is my whole entire point, can you not see that?

Over the long haul? Thats debatble, I'm not intending to live off poker for the rest of my life. It's my part time job, just like your part time job. The bottom line on this whole deal is that PVFAN took the money from is part time job and went on vacation and by him going on a vacation it rubbed you the wrong way.

By the way things are at least perceived, the GOP is viewed as the party for the wealthy, the Democrats (as they are criticized on here regularly for) are the party that helps the poor more (yes sometimes to a fault!). I don't think its any more wrong to say 'I don't earn enough to be a Republican' than it is to say 'I'm not a Democrat, I work for a living'

No, it just makes not sense to me how someone can say they can't afford to affiliated with something, but they can afford to gamble. The vacation has nothing to do with it. I really should have re-worded myself a little bit.

I will also say that MOST people will end up better off in the stock market than the poker table assumeing they are not the daytrader types.

I win, not everytime I play but for the long haul I win which is clearly seen on that link which tracks every online poker player in the world in terms of tournaments. I'm not making a living, there is no way poker could be by living just as the stock market could not be greencrest living it just helps out.

I'm middle class, for some reason my personal finances have now been thrown all over the LPD Forum. Anybody who knows me knows I'm middle class. I'm willing to go into debt to go see a local guy play in the SuperBowl, thats my choice. Just as I'm willing to go into debt to go to college, once again my choice. The whole statement about the finacial aid was in regards to myself and others, I couldn't get an on campus job working 8-10 hrs a week due to not recieving financial aid. Just to go to school is 10K a year at UVA-Wise, my family and I will end up in debt before the time I graduate whether or not I go to Miami this week. I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination, if I was rich do you really think I would've grown up in the southern section of Big Stone and go to school at UVA-Wise? To me, anybody who goes to a public college should be able to go and leave debt free whatever that means or takes. Thats my opinion, for some reason that has led to all of this, a bunch of people hiding behinding a username to put my views and life down.

Having this would makw college no more than 4 more years of high school and would make the diploma someone gets from a public college meaningless compared to that of a private school.

You could competely pay for your school and go to the superbowl every year with money left over just from your part-time job, so there is no reason to say that you will be in debt by the time you leave school.

Your just looking for ways to argue now, either that or your just dumb to the cost of school which is 10K at year at UVA-Wise which is considered a cheap public college.
