Tim Hardaway
I do not know how to react to his statements. On one hand I applaud him for speaking his mind. I belive a man's sexual orientation is his own PERSONAL affair and if he does not try to influence me, and can hit the jumper, and play defense, I do not care who he "Pirates" with.
I think Hardaway should have found a better way to say it. My opinion is that homosexuality is ruining the nation. PERIOD! Hardaway was speaking his mind but I guess he could have used a more responsible approach in his demeanor.
You know what though, if a member of the rainbow coalition had said he or she did not like straight people, I bet you nothing would be said to this person.
You can not say anything nowadays without hurting someone's feelings and that is a bunch of crap. Our freedoms are sllllooooowlllly being taken away from us. Like I said, I will not hate anyone for being a homosexual even though I think it is morally wrong.
I guess Hardaway's position in the NBA made this more than what it really is. Open mouth and insert foot I guess. I would not apologize for my believes as he did but I would have used a little more intelligence in the way I said it.
As far as being naked in the shower with a gay person.......hmmmmmmm.....I would feel uncomfortable if I knew I guess. Hopefully I hope I never have to experience that.

Re: Tim Hardaway
it was by far some of the most retarded stuff ever said, and i hope he doesnt want a tv job or somethin somewhere, or an nba office job, because it will never, never happen after his complete show of ignorance.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
What did Hardaway say anyway? I'm guessing something negative towards homosexuality.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
yeah, pretty extreme towards gays, he should never get a job with a microphone again
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
Agreed, biggin. The NBA has already rightly fired him from doing work for them at the All Star game.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
Y'all can say what ya want. But, finally someone has spoken their mind for a change. It's like this, I can remember when it was OK to say what ya thought. Then, tolerance was taught to the extreme in our schools, political correctness became king, boys were taught it was OK to be sissies, girls were taught it was OK to look and act like a boy and so on and so forth. I can remember when talking about a homosexual was somethin ya did never expecting to ever really see one. I can remember how repulsed I was when I actually saw one for the first time in the JC Mall and he was playing grab-a$$ and tongue hockey with his lil sissified BF. I guess what I'm saying is nowdays folks are too much of a coward to say what is really on their minds. But guess what, I agree with Tim Hardaway and I ain't gonna apologize for it. I don't want anything to do with a homosexual, I don't want to be in the same room as a homosexual, I hate to think that at a restraunt that I might actually be given a glass to drink from that a homosexual has used, or a knife, spoon or fork that one has had in his mouth. I mean seriously, where does all this politically correct a$$-kissin' end? You may say it is one's choice of his or her sexual orientation. Yes, I agree. But, I also think it is my choice on whether or not I agree with it and whether or not I choose to open my mouth about how i feel. Some things shouldn't hurt feelings, and this is one of those things. Folks say they are born that way and I say that is BS. Being a homosexual is a choice, and I prefer to keep 'em away from me. And deep down most of you who want to sound tolerant and politically correct know you feel the same way I do.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
I agree with everything you said sup-rbeast, but it is like my wife says: Your rights end where anothers begins.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
I'm in the class of folks who have no rights: straight white male. I love women and I have nothing against different races. But, if a H O M O says something derogatory towards a straight person it is OK..but woe to the straight person who opens his mouth about gays. If I open my mouth to say something about a CHOICE it should be OK tho. If folks want to criticize me I think they have the right to. It's not like I'm being a hypocrite and slamming something I am guilty of. I just think it is time to quit acting like everything is OK with everything people do just because a select few wants to whine about discrimination.

There's no question that you can't say what you want. You can say anything. You have to realize, like he has now, that if you say something completely moronic and hateful that you're going to be called on it. Speak your mind, don't get offended when someone else speaks their's in reference to what you said though.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
Like I said, folks can criticize me all they want to. But, nowdays we are taught to be politically correct. Political correctness is ruining our country by tearing away at the fabric of our society. It takes a man to take a stand...and i applaud Hardaway for havin the guts to speak his mind even if it cost him a job. I'm sure he doesn't need the money anyways.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
I hope you don't think I was criticizing you. I have no problem with what you said. If you say it though, as he did, just prepare for the repercussions.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
I know you weren't criticizing me. All I was saying is that if someone wants to more power to them. Anyone who has the courage to speak up about their values had better have a thick skin nowdays tho.

yeah, im here heh
i cannot BELIEVE the ignorance on this thread. its people like you that makes this area so backwoods and redneck.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
After my post I expected some friction. But I'm a big boy, and words just run off me like water off a duck's back. Ain't afraid to give it back tho either.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
I can't believe anyone would call it ignorance. If I have to bow like a lil sissy to things I think are evil and corrupt in order to sound cultured, I'd rather sound like a redneck. But hey, I'm educated, College degree, good job, I just don't agree with being a coward when it comes to saying things that need to be said. And I think more folks should have the balls to express their deep down feelings. Not just be a lil sheep and say what everyone has told them is the "correct" thing to say. BTW, I have lived in Lawton, OK, El Paso, TX, and Honolulu, HI; and if you think the views expressed here make ya sound like a redneck you should hear some of the views expressed there. The majority of folks are no different. They view it as a nasty corruption as well.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
You have a lot of valid points. I didn't have too much problem with him saying what he thought, and I think the Amichi or whatever his name was (the gay former-player) said as much, that at least Hardaway was honest with his opinions.
I dont know, part of me thinks it a tough line to draw. I mean they have rights, their freedoms as long as it doesn't infringe on others right. I have the right to not like something, they have the right to think I'm an idiot for thinking it. You're absolutely right that someone from the rainbow coalition could say something about straights and it would be fine, its the double standard that gets me.

Thank goodness for that....would much rather be around backwoods rednecks than a bunch of freakazoid whacko alternative nutcases like you may see in say, San Fran?

Re: Tim Hardaway
hahahah,
just because you have a college degree doesnt mean you are not ignorant, because obviously you are.
ever heard of tolerance? im not a christian, but im tolerant of your views, until they are discriminatory and downright wrong.
im so sorry that you are forced to live in the same world as these "sissy" homosexuals.
they arent doin a goddam-n thing to you, yet you still think they are wrong and "evil" and "corrupt".
you need to move into the 21st century hick, its absolutley incomprehensible to me that one can still have so much hate in their heart to a specific set of people.
you hating on a homosexual is like hating a black person for the sole reason is that they would be black.
so grow up moron, or better yet, stay in the 1950's, we dont need you here anyways.

You're falling into the same stupid trap. Just because someone doesn't agree with your beliefs you're saying that they're cowards and just saying what someone else tells them to think. What if someone says that the only reason you say that is because that's where you grew up, what your parents taught you? Just because somebody has a different view than yours doesn't make them cowards or mean that they can't think for themselves. It's just a different view. I'm not going to judge you for what you think or be as harsh as biggin', but I'll just chose to disagree.

Re: Tim Hardaway
"you hating on a homosexual is like hating a black person for the sole reason is that they would be black."
No it's not the same. You are trying to group it together and compare homophobes to bigots. It is not the same. I don't agree with hate on any level for any human being but your analogy is not accurate. Racial differences does not correlate to acts of sin. Being black is not a sin and is not wrong. Homosexuality is a sin and is wrong.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
Good point Biggin (on the hateing part).
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
ahh see, there in lies the catch
YOU think, because of your views, that homosexual is wrong and a sin.
THERE IS NO PROVEN FACT OF YOUR RELIGION BEING RIGHT IN THE FIRST [censored] PLACE.
so take that book you catch your ingorance from, it seems, and put it somewhere with all the other great fable books of the world.
YOU cannot say what is right and wrong and be correct just because of your religions views.
you may think it is wrong, and raise your kids, etc.. that way, but that doesnt mean its regarded as a fact, and the whole world should not have to live within your set of rules, just because you think so.
ignorance should be a sin.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
Biggame, if they hate them because 'its a sin' then you're right, its not the same.
If they hate them due to being different, then yes it is.
I'm sorry, I dont buy that most people hate homosexuals because they are sinners, if they do, they would hate every person who lusted, etc.
Besides, even then we're supposed to love the sinner and hate the sin.
-
Re: Tim Hardaway
"ever heard of tolerance? im not a christian, but im tolerant of your views, until they are discriminatory and downright wrong."
Well I don't think you had to tell everyone you were not a christian...you made that fairly obvious already.
So you don't think your views concerning traditional Appalachian American stereotypes are discriminatory and downright wrong?

I don't advocate hate on any level or for any person no matter the reason whether it be they are sinners or not. I was just pointing out that the analogy was not accurate and did not constitute comparison. Racial bigotry has nothing to do with Homophobia.

Re: Tim Hardaway
You can say what you want Biggin. Your insults don't bother me. And I'm sorry you have to live in my world too. But, you can always move to JC or San Fran. I'm tolerant of your views too. But, like I said, in the world we live in today, many folks are afraid to express how they truly feel because it's not politically correct. Tolerance is a good thing to a point. And saying something is sick and nasty when it is a choice made by an individual is not the same as hating someone over their color. I'm not a bigot. I have nothing against anyone because of their race. We have no choice of our color when we are born. But how many folks have come out of the womb with a root in their a$$. So you can run with the pack all ya want. I vote Democrat but that doesn't mean I have to condone Homosexuality. I think it's funny how you express your tolerance Biggin. Squaling insults like moron and things like that. You're really tolerant..maybe you should move into a gay neighborhood since ya like em so much. I'm sure someone would set ya up in an apartment in Chelsea, NY.

You can't say it's wrong or right just because you agree with it either Biggin. That's the problem with tolerance. It is a double edged sword. Practicing it is a hell of alot easier than preachin it.

I find it easy. I don't worry about what others do. I don't worry about what another man does with his dick unless I'm sitting in his lap. I could care less about what you do and I have no opinion on it unless it's being mean to children and animals.

Re: Tim Hardaway
I'm not religious either...but I have values and morals. You don't have to go to church to realize that a man puttin it to another man is not the correct way to procreate. That's what chicks are here for. They are the other half of that puzzle. That's why we all weren't born with or without tallywhackers. You can go nut's all ya want but you'll not change my views.

So you get to decide the moral code for all of mankind? I don't need proof concerning my religious beliefs. God is not just my God...he is your's too and everyone's for that matter. This nation was founded on those principle's and its laws should follow accordingly. What you are saying is akin to saying well just because your God says murder is wrong doesn't mean it really is! The whole world shouldn't have to live within that set of rules!....geesh

Re: Tim Hardaway
Nope. Be nice to children, old people, animals, follow the laws of the government that you reside under. What does homosexuality have to do with law? I think you're blurring the lines wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much.
