Ok, there's a lot posts about baseball but who will be the top softball teams in the LPD? Please no posts with a hundred *~*~ crap lol

how can you leave out appy? they did have a great year last year.

One of GC's pitchers will be one of the Odle twins. Haley I beleive??

Haley will be the catcher. I believe Heather is the pitcher.

what about other teams... as in JIB Clintwood PV & JJK. Who's JIB's pitcher?

Clintwoods starting pitcher should be the same one as last year (Finally starting to get some girls in the program that have been playing the game for more than 1 or 2 years)

Appy returns everyone but their 3rd baseman and center fielder

Appy will have a tough team this year, bank on it. I'd have to put them as the front-runner for the district title.

Sounds like Appy could be the team to beat (Who will coach them this year?)

I still have a hard time not seeing GC at the top again (PV should be improved from last year as well despite loseing there best player)

Appy will have the same coaches as last year. Travis Turner is returning as the head coach.

what does kelly have this year? Did they lose any players?

I did not think you could be a head coach if you were not in the school system.

However Travis being back will do nothing but help as he has done a fine job with the Appy team

Yup heather will be pitching for Gate City this year.. im interested in seeing how good she'll do. I haven't had the chance to see her pitch?!

That's is very interesting, I heard they had a 6ft.freshman, tall blond that was very good. Alot of Gate City people are very excited about her pitching ability at such a young age.

She's awork in progress. If she keeps working hard, she will do fine in the LPD,but she will have to get better and more consistent to go farther. Heather will be fine too, Shiana Grills(thats the 6-ft blond) will have to carry the load early until Heather gets her arm in shape. But she got more to think about right , like the STATE B-BALL CHAMPONSHIP. GO LADY DEVILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Burton's pitcher is Hannah Hampton the same as last year. Her back-ups are Brittany Wilson, Hannah Stewart and Chelsey Forney. Brittany and Hannah Stewart were also pitchers last year along with Hannah Hampton. Hannah Hampton, Hannah Stewart, and Brittany Wilson are 10th graders while Chelsey Forney is a freshman.

and nobody talks about pound's team...thats sad.

Sources tell me Kelly lost their catcher and 1st base. Also with Brewer out for the season, 2nd base is not covered.

coeburn has a young team, dont know if they will have a good season or not but will definately be a good team in a couple years..

I've seen the Grills girl pitch in a few tournaments and she was killing them. If I had to pick between the two, I'd pick the Grills girl before Heather Odle. Grills seemed a lot faster and stronger, and had killer aim on that ball. Odle is good too don't get me wrong. Grills will do just fine carrying Gate City until Odle gets her arm in shape after bball. Grills is younger but I think she has more experience on the mound than Odle from playing alot of traveling AAU ball. She will be a force to deal with in pitching. With Heather Odle and Grills pitching those Gate City girls should go all the way to state!IMO

I too have seen Grills, pitch....she is doing well this year..to say the least she has put a lot of time in her pitching this winter..I heard she is pitching alot right now and someone says she is still playing some volleyball. But her being young worrys me on the mound, but then also Odle didnt see much time on the mound last year. GC will be in the district running for the next few years, next year they will have 2 pitchers that work very hard at their pitching...you will have Grills and Lane. Plus the big thing for the team this year and next the girls have played alot of softball together. Godsey will have some big shoes to fill next year because of what he loses this year....2 Odles, Woods, and Sharpe...he will have a young team next year but he has some 8th graders that have played some ball, I have seen them at tournaments playing together during the summer and they work well together with Grills, and Lane on the mound.

Lane? Who is she?

The Lane girls first name is pronounced tear-ston...not exactly sure on the exact spelling. She is an 8th grader with great speed and control along with an excellent work ethic. She will be another great Gate City pitcher. Gate City also has some talented 6th grade girls coming up as well...i know because i have 7 of them on my ASA Fastpitch traveling team here in Kingsport.

Just heard that Brewer from Kelly had her surgery today and everything went well. Her Doctor says 4-6 months she'll be good as new.

The Grills girl is a very good pitcher... that being said.. PV's jv team played gate city's jv team last year with her (Grills)pitching against them... the Chandler girl pitched for PV and PV beat them 3-2. They played again in the Dairy Queen Tournament both teams using the same two pitchers and they tied after 6 innings at 0-0. I don't think Gate City is going to be the best this year.. PV also beat Gate City over the summer in a summer varsity tournament. I think ppl aren't recognizing PV's potential this year. Powell Valley and Gate City's games against eachother should be good games.

Nobody was trying to insinuate that they was the champions... but just don't count them out.. all you ever hear on here is how great Gate City is.. Yes they are a great school that usually excels at everything. They are used to having no competition around here. I just think that PV will give them a run for their money this year.. Get a subscription to the post this year, cause PV is going to have some great games. I have a feeling most people will be surprised at just how good PV is going to be this softball season.
