Girls- Gate City
I'm assuming Tara Sheets hasn't transferred. She will win singles at state again and she should be able to win doubles as well.
Norton always has a strong boys team, but i'm not sure how many they graduated last year.
What does GC have this year? Same people?
Well i agree that the GC girls will prolly take it again and that they will prolly go to state.
I dunno how Norton will do I know that they have a lot of talent this year but, as far as I know, most of them are pretty young.

pretty young?? 4 of our top 6 are seniors. i honestly see it between burton clintwood and gate city.
Burton prolly has the most experience at any rate...
I think Gate city will be a very hard team to beat this year...
most experience,, our whole team has played all year round and has played in tournaments year round. GC is ready and they are coming hard. every one of our top five could be number one.
I would have to agree with omar, but gate city does have a lot of talent and has been playing year round. The reason i agree with omar is because Burton has 4 seniors in their top 5, one of which has played at state 3 times. The others have played twice at state. So pressure and experience go together with all of them. But this is probably Gate City's year to finally win tennis, but then again ive heard that for the past 3 years.
Well i heard that gate city has a kid coming back whos pretty good by the name of Cole Lane does anyone know anything about him

Norton just cannot be beat. They're the best, period. Don't even say you have a chance in H(double hockey sticks) to beat them. they'res no way that can happen. My prediction is that Cole Lane quits the day after his first match with Norton.

GC has a pretty solid team as a matter of fact. The only thing is that theyre young. But if they put a good match together i think they could give Burton a run for their money.

2002...dotson was the 1 seed for 2003, 2004 and 2005

Well since you didn't specify a gender- JJK girls ruled the tennis courts most of the 90's...In 1990 they were state runner up and then they won 7 state championships in a row and then finished off the decade with 2 state runner ups... There were some singles state champions as well as a few doubles state championships. And yes i know you probably were implying when were the BOYS any good, but hey you didn't say that.
Don't get me wrong I pull for JIB over GC in boys tennis, but when was the last time JIB's boys had a state championship?
There's no reason to come on here and start bragging about how your team is going to win. You need to win before you can start running your mouth about it.
Burton will never get over the top unless those guys take it upon themselves to get some serious lessons over the summer. Most of them have that 1 stroke that is dramatically flawed. Once you get up to state, other teams recognize it and attack it alot more. The biggest difference is you cant just "keep it in play" and expect to win. You have to attack and when you have some of those flaws, attacking style tennis usually results in unforced errors. Sometimes Ive felt like Burton teams have played to win state instead of playing to be their best and left alot of untapped potential sitting on the table. Were there some good tennis teams, sure. Did they they meet their potential, usually not.
The City has not done anything to fix the courts either. The surface itself is terrible. Its so fast, its like playing on glass. You hit a winner and think your Agassi the way the surface plays. Then you go to uva-w or radford for state and balls keep coming back to you. Its not a good surface to play on at all, nevermind all the cracks. They said they were resurfacing back in 97 but all they did was repaint, even the paint on the lines has chipped away. The football team goes to state a couple times and gets a million dollar facility better than what the Miami Hurricanes have, the tennis team goes to state every year and cant get a fresh can of tennis balls after March.
