How in the world did Cody Sayler not make it, he only got honorable mention?

The LPD coaches seem to have a problem with giving Gate City their due. To the victor goes the spoils. After seeing the LPD teams this year, I seem to think that GC had the two best players in Hackney and Anderson. Adkins is a good player, but he is most definetly not the best. I would think that GC would rather have the state runner up trophy than the POY and COY anyway. I am not taking anything away from Coach Wilson as he may have had one of his best coaching years in a while by taking one of his lesser talented teams and finishing 2nd and beating GC once and almost beating CW in the regionals.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of politics that goes into selecting these awards.

As with many other things, the honor itself seems to have been lost somewhere along the way.

Once again GC gets shorted, Adkins does not deserve POY nor Wilson COY. I recall two years ago when Jesse broke state records and made it to the final four and Daddy's Boy got POY instead of him. I also don't see how Cody Salyer didn't make it.

I have no idea how anyone can pick over Jamie Hackney for the player of the year. but then again it is wise county politics so i can kinda see it

Either Dustin Fleming or Daren Sproles, they neither one put up as impressive numbers as Salyers and not just points.

and alot of rebounds he had a double double almost every game

There is nothin to get over, we are state-runner ups and we know who the best are.

Dustin Fleming. was the pound basketball team. If he was out or hurt the team didnt win or do half as good. while he wa sin he controlled the floor and lead his team.

Devan Sproles. mostly the same way. he was jjk's X-factor. if he done bad then the jjk team didnt do as well. if he was making shots and playing good defense the team rolled and made shots

I guess shootin the three ball is absolutely pointless then, thats why every kid in the LPD can drain a three every time they put one up. They are just that good. Worthless threes also made Redick one of the best college players... And if you ever watched GC, you would know Cody does more than just that!!!

exactly they are ok players on bad teams, cody is a good player on a great team.

how many times did cody make a clutch three to tie it up or put us in the lead on our way to state?? 2 or 3 i believe. half of the kids on that list couldn't even make three, under pressure or not

i saw cody play against sproles, against fleming, against all these people he is good and i think he outperformed all of those guys at state, especially since they werent there

Remember, All-LPD is voted on during the LPD tourney, they are just not released until after the last team from the district is eliminated.

I find it funny that you're hearing bias again, even though GC Girls got 3 players on and Godsey won COY. I agree that Stan should be COY, simply because he did the most with the least. Where did people expect Burton to place? Toward the bottom...where did they finish? 2nd. He even lost players during the year, and continued his ways. No offense to Scott, but he was expected to win the district, which he did...so it's hard to look outstanding when you're expected to be great already. What most people don't realize, LPD honors are just that, LPD based, not based on our run to state, or clutch victories or anything. It's just based on LPD regular season games and Tourney.

In response to Cody Salyer just shooting 3s, is that not all that Adkins does? I saw him play this year, and that's what he did as well. So he gets POY for shooting 3s and Cody gets Honorable Mention for shooting 3s. That is odd.

But congrats to Jamie, Tihlee, Cody, Heather, Haley, Tuesdee, Ashton, Kaitlyn and Sam. You worked hard and deserve the honors. Congrats to the others as well.

I don't know if there is a specific rule regarding including at least one player from every team, but, if not, it seems to be the "unwritten rule."

Ideally, yes. Realistically, some of the choices were made before the tournament began. I suspect some may have even been made before the season began.

Gate City did shut atkins down, and many of the rest of these people, they may all be good, but no one found a way to shut Cody down

cody is better than kiser to.

in one head to head meeting against atkins, i remember cody stroking 7 3's in atkins face on his way to 24 points and i really dont remember atkins doing anything.

Remember how great Adam hood was supposed to be? I recall Cody embarassing him bad at Castlewood! Salyers deserves all district, its a shame that these old men coaches cheat a great kid out of something just because they have a chip on their shoulder toward Gate City.
