JV Baseball Scores

Post up some JV scores.

Gate City's JV (consists of 9 eigth graders)

JJ Kelly 14-3 W
South- 7-12 L
Lee High- 16-6 W
South- 14-3 W
They play Rye Cove Friday

How about some varsity scores from yesterday. I understand Gate City played Powell Valley but haven't seen or heard a score.

GC won 4-3

I heard the JV team was all holdbacks ! Is this true ?

20 year old freshmen? Heck, I thought we kept the 20 year olds in 7th grade!

Not a one of the kids on there is a hold back. But then again they arent ALL eighth graders. Theres one freshman and they had a sophomore before he started playing on varsity.

Well whenever they played it was a double header. GC won the first 7-0 and lost the second 4-2.

Both were good games...even though it was cold..and snowing! D. Clark did a good job pitching in the 1st game...the pitching didnt look as good in the 2nd game...they played alot of non starters in the 2nd game, and had simple mistakes.

I got to see the game from my car in right field !! Very cold conditions ! I thought Gate City had a few kids that might be pretty good down the road.I not sure how good Rye Cove was but they had some big boys !! I think the 1st baseman hit a 2 run shot to right center for a homerun in the second game that was the game winner. In the first game the pitcher for Gate City was pretty effective. Gate City did not hit the ball that well in both games.

I heard that the Russell kid was playing. Isn't he a freshman? I know someone that works with his dad and they say he's a pretty good hitter.

Russell is an 8th grader...and he is a very good hitter.

I don't know who the kids are by numbers or what positions they were playing. Noneone really hit the ball that well for Gate City. Rye Cove pitchers were not throwing that hard !!

Is Russell a hold back? I know that his dad said that he was in the 8th grade last year.
