ETSU vote...
The students voted down the referendum to raise fees helping to support the return of football. Yet another low turnout though, as 27 percent of the student body voted. At least that's a little higher than others have been. I had a bad feeling it wouldn't pass. I hate this

Re: ETSU vote...
I don't blame them. Why pay more to restore something that probably should have never been eliminated in the first place.
And really, who wants to spend a Saturday in Johnson City when you can drive an hour and a half and spend a Saturday in Knoxvegas?

Re: ETSU vote...
ETSU just needs to have a Men's Dance team, that would best suite the San Fransisco lifestyle some live in that area, and no I am not bashing all of JC, I actually have family that lives there but there is definately a high percentage of men who like to travel the hershey highway. Football would fail again.

That sounds worse than spending an hour in Hell.

Re: ETSU vote...
i agree about the UT comment, and then you got Carson Newman---arguably one of the best D2 football programs year in and year out which is in Jefferson Co.
but honestly did ETSU ever recruit around here? I know PV had a guy who played there a few years back, and Coach Rick Mullins played there, but out of all the talent the LPD used to produce you would think they would have went after some guys alittle harder, esp boys from GC who are spittin distance from JC (and most of them would get instate tuition....lol).
honestly i went there to watch a game several years back and thought it was really boring atmosphere.

Re: ETSU vote...
Not much difference in the 2 when comparing the cities not the universities. One has a zoo and a better mall.
-
Re: ETSU vote...
Lee's Brandon Calton and Jimmy Martin played there during the last years of the program.

Re: ETSU vote...
Right, while the other IS A ZOO!

Re: ETSU vote...
Scott Countians get instate at ETSU.
As well as Lee, Washington, and other counties that are close.
I don't think Wise does though.

Re: ETSU vote...
I think it is Border countys (Is there and exeption for folks that live in Va but work in Tenn?) I worked with a lady that lived in Tenn but worked in Va and her kids could get instate for that reason (Of course Tenn does not have an income tax and Va Does so that could be the reason for that)

Re: ETSU vote...
Wise does not get it but it would be nice. I have checked on a class or two from there.

Re: ETSU vote...
Only just the border counties of Lee, Scott, and Washington, that's all in Va. Some of the bordering counties in NC are included too.
-
Re: ETSU vote...
I noticed that Ashe, NC isn't included.

Re: ETSU vote...
I think it's a shame that less than 2000 students out of nearly 13,000 can be able to make a decision such as that! I think this should have NOT been left up to the students. It sounds more like an administration decision should have been made. I think they're putting the decision off on someone else! Don't you all?

Re: ETSU vote...
That's they way a majority of the kids nowdays are. If it doesn't involve a hand out, sex, alcohol, pot, or pills they aren't interested. With the rise in tuition every year, I wouldn't have voted to pay more to bring back a program that shouldn't have been done away with to begin with either. If a team is gonna be brought back, the funds need to come from the college or the state...not the kids.

Re: ETSU vote...
I think thats dumb you can only get in state there if you are a border county. I live about as far from JC as a lot people in Lee County do as do the folks in Wise County, and if you live in the Lebanon/Hansonville area, you're only about an hour away from campus. They should be like King College and give in state as long as you live within a certain mileage from the campus.

Re: ETSU vote...
Like it was said earlier why does ETSU need a football program and why do we care? Like I said earlier they hardly ever even looked at our neck of the woods.
