If you take the metal bats out of college baseball, Id have to say Id never watch a game. I usually watch 3-4 a week now.

I love that ping, I wish MLB used metal bats. I am sure with technology these days they could find a way to make the Aluminum bats a little more "dead" to where it would comparable to a wood bat. I don't know maybe I am wrong. I personally love the sound of an aluminum bat, it is what playing baseball should sound like.

I agree, year by year though the bats get more "ping" I remember when I played the REDLINE and C-CORE bats were hot, now my nephew uses PLASMA and STealth bats that put those to shame. I know that titanium bats have been demmed illegal.

you need to look into a DeMarini, I absolutely LOVED mine, felt like the bat was actually bending on the whip.

But I disagree w/both of you. I think from highschool up they should use wood bats. Best time of my life was the summer I played in a wood bat league a few years back. Makes you really earn a hit.

You like the D's?! I have seen them and took some BP with one and it felt aweful. I was really dissapointed. The Plasma bats, the Stealths and the XO Grid are all mean.

I have hit with woody's, I mean I know thas baseball, but to me its what separates the big leagues. Dunno, just makes the game more apealing (sp) I like the scoring.

I like wood myself man. I used a wood bat some in HS actually. Hit a GS against Tom Walker, then preceded to break it in BP. It was one of the Louisville Sluggers you can buy for $20. I then ordered a Young bat after that with my name on it, but it never felt as good as my slugger.

Wood bats can travel almost as well as metal bats, but the sweet spot is so much smaller, IMO.

As for the good old days NOLA, I liked the Worth Copperheads, but their walls were so thin, I broke 3 in one season. They sounded great, and I loved the one they had that have a wood grain finish on it. I never was a big fan of Easton's Redline or CCore though. I did like TPS AirAttacks.

You must have played in my era too, that is what we used as well. I have not picked up a bat in 9 years or so, I haven't even seen the new ones. Maybe I would now actually have a shot at hitting one out of the park.

we had a couple in HS, they would split about 4 inches down the middle. good bats for a limited amount of time. I remember the black magic bats those were clubs, like swinging a fence post.

95-99 is when I played. TPX and Easton made some early bats I used that were aweful but as time progressed they got better. C555 was the first bat I remember thinking made the jump to the next level bat. Since then its progressed every year

You just proved how much softball I have been playing. I said TPS instead of TPX. I also played at the same time. Graduated in 99 as well.

I had Black Magic. That is the first HS bat I ever bought. Hated it too.

I never liked the copperheads, the TPX airattack was nice and had the traditional pop.
I used TPX all 4 years of h.s. and my first year in college had to use an Easton and HATED it. Felt like it didnt have the pop that TPX had imho.

yeah I know ALOT of people who dont like the DeMarini but I just felt like it gave me more pop because it just seemed like I had alot more batspeed with it. Granted everything you hit with it sounds the exact same, doesnt really give you a traditional pop, but like I said it feels like the barrel is bending when you swing it. Or maybe it was jus because I was alittle more patient on waiting for the ball to get in the zone before attacking.

If you want to get a wood bat, I would recommend the x-bat if you can afford it.
If the majors ever went to an alumnium bat there would be ppl die flat out. And the homerun record would be forever tarnished unless they expended the playing dimensions of the field. I mean can you imagine Bonds swining an Alumnium bat? He'd be hittin 600 feet.

I would be afraid to go to a game and sit on the 3rd base line if A ROD had a aluminum bat. He'd hit it to Shea Stadium.

What did you think about the two piece bats?
Those came out after I graduated, my friends and I would go to the HS all the time and play HR derby and I used one, it felt, just strange.

I never did swing a Demanini in baseball, but liked them when playing slow pitch.

We used wood in my day, metal bats were still on the "drawing board" then. Something for the future.
