Probably...I hate to see her go, she is a great coach despite the number of wins and losses...Powell Valley's girls teams are on the right track now thanks to her hard work and dedication. I wish her luck.

What do you mean? All I am saying is this: She had been offered the Vollyball job... but has not been offered the basketball job.... that does not mean she will not be coaching basketball though.
Sorry did not mean anything just that "not offered" and "not offically offered" have some big "between the lines" differentes

That is true. She will be a PE Teacher at the Middle School in Gate City.
She is not doing volleyball...Amy Reed is the Head Volleyball Coach, she is the new Girls Basketball Coach!

Kelly was my neighbor throughout her childhood and on into college. I knew she was going to be a great basketball player very early on, as at age nine she and I would take on a couple of the teenage neighborhood boys in a little 2 on 2. She was bustin it from three point land way back then. I was always used to seeing her in a t-shirt and gym shorts with her hair pulled back in a ponytail and no make-up. She looked the part of tomboy. Then I saw her one night at a school function and nearly fell over! She looked like a model that had just stepped out of a photo shoot. Kelly is truly a beautiful young lady whose beauty is not limited to her outward appearance. But then, I'm not telling a lot of folks something they don't already know.
As far as coaching goes, she will be an asset on any school's staff.
She might be HELPING with volleyball. Coach Reed is head coach, no doubt. It is still uncertain about the basketball job though.
What about the softball coaching job at Gate City? Does Kellie coach softball or will Amy Bledsoe keep the job?
She won't take it. She's not very interested in softball.

Anyway, her shoulder injury would probably have prevented her from playing. RC's loss, for sure, as she was one of the best female athletes to ever come out of the Cove, and out of SW Virginia as far as that goes. She most impressed me when she learned to hit left handed (volleyball) after the shoulder injury prevented her from htting right-handed.

Remember, you're taking about Scott County here. Reed may be the coach up until the last day to announce the coaching assignments, and then she may be replaced at the last minute. It's happened more than one time in the county...and remember the Godsey fiasco, where the caoch may be replaced AFTER the season has already started!!

Smith is being offered the 7th & 8th grade job, and took it.. obviously & helping coach jv or varsity [ not really sure ] She left because her husband is trying to get a job as well and they only live about 10 minutes away and of course their kids will be going to Gate City.. seems to me like a good idea. Good luck to Kelly Smith. .... anyone know who's gonna become the head volleyball & basketball coach now? haha
Even though they only live 10 minutes away, maybe they will send their kids to her alma mater.
