She did get Paris Hilton fired/released from their agency. She said she didnt want to have anything to do with an agency that had Hilton on board so it was either her or Paris to hit the road. They kept Alba.

Yep, Alba actually admitted at this point in her life she prefers one night stands over relationships. She she wants to experiment, wants varity ect...I find that cool that she admits it. She knows what she wants, and thats a good thing. Lots of women her age think they want a relationship, but still cheat, and sleep with tons of guys. At least you would know what to expect with her!

That means you don't know much about stand-up. Half the stuff that Cook does is a take off of jokes from guys like Artie Lange and Jim Breuer. He's not nearly as bad as Carlos Menstealia for stealing jokes, but he's not far off. Still a thief.

How much you wanta bet me that Dane Cook has made twice the money Artie Lange and Jim Breuer has??? That tells me even if he stole it, it must be a hell of a lot funnier when he tells it...Three major movie appearances in one year??? Not many stand ups can top that...So i guess millions of others share my opinion on who is the funniest...

Maybe he has more money, but if you've listened/watched enough stand-up, you realize that some of the funniest dudes never make it huge and get all kinds of money. See Bill Hicks & Mitch Hedberg for instance.

Money does not equal funny. Cook could be in 52 movies, 1 a week for the next year, and I'll still tell you that he's not funny, and I just flat out don't respect him for stealing bits off of other comedians. He may be popular to the masses because he gets on stage and acts like a dumbass, but in terms of actual bits and jokes, he's not even a fraction as good as guys like Breuer, Lange, Pete Dominic, Dave Attel, Craig Shoemaker, Mitch Fatel...etc...I could keep going.

Mass appeal does not equal funny either...some of the funniest guys never make it mainstream. So the whole "other sheeple agree with me so it must be true" bit doesn't work. I'm talking about straight up funny, not who's popular.

And where are you supposed to have time to hunt up these other cats??? I ain't got that kinda time, So as far as something I can actually find out here in the real world, Without becoming obsessed with stand up (which I'm not)and hunting under every rock for these guys... I, along with most others are forced to listen/watch the ones that are available to the public...And are reasonably easy to find..I hate that for those that have never been discovered...I'm sure that there was a guy somewhere that could hit more homeruns than Barry Bonds, but he was forced to work in a factory to feed his baby he had in High School, So there for nobody ever saw him...I can't help that, nore can I see him playing against the BlueJays tonight...

The bit about who is "straight up funny, not popular" doesn't really work either....If they were that funny somebody would have found them by now, and they would be popular...You may think they are funny, however the masses, or talent scouts/agents, must not...How do you think Dane got popular???

It would be kinda like saying Thomas Jones is the best RB in the NFL..Although you may feal that way, the numbers say no, L.T. is...And there maybe new guys or undiscovered guys who are better, but right now L.T. is the man...Well right now the numbers, and the deals he is landing say Dane is the hottest Comic in the country, not opinion just fact

The guys he named aren't that hard to find. Breuer used to be on SNL. Attel had his own show on Comedy Central for years, which is still played today (I saw it on a few weeks ago). Shoemaker and Fatel have had specials run in the last month as well. Add Bob Marley, Carlin, Black, Reeb, Fransisco to that list that C.C. put up and you've got a pretty good list. Just because something is popular and it sales doesn't mean it's good. The Backstreet Boys, NSync and countless other worthless bands who's fame and popularity were spurned on by the lowest denominator in society (teenage girls) is a good example. Dane Cook can be funny, he just does the same joke 50 times a slightly different way. He's not that talented, he seems to appeal to people who want somethng mindless that they don't have to think about, and frat boys.

Well in looking back I shouldn't have made "The funniest man in the world comment"...I actually intended it to be more for DaneCook (the screen name)...So I withdraw that....Cause we are getting into a 4th grade argument here, "what I like is better than what you like", and it's actually gettin kinda dumb (me included)...I like all commedy, that being said I love Attel and Breuer, not heard of all the others, but I will checkem out...But this arguement is gettin dumb cause there is no way to measure commics, and nobody wins...

I told you, by stealing other people's bits. Stand-up comedy to me is an art and a craft that people work damn hard on over time, and for someone to get big by stealing someone else's bits and doing them on TV just isn't right to me...it disrespects the whole medium, especially for those who take it seriously. Even if he "does it better", then he still stole it. It wasn't his original idea, but he's passing it off as his anyway--and to me that ain't right.

Go get a Sirius or XM radio. Listen to the comedy stations. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to run across some of the comedians I mentioned, because trust me--all of them are much funnier than Cook, regardless of the big movie deals. All a big movie deal shows me about Cook is that he can act...and I'll give him props for that--not that he's a funny stand-up comedian when most of the stuff he does is stolen bits.

I mean, let's say that Cook had a ghost writer, someone writing some of his funniest stuff for him on his staff (like Paul Mooney was to Richard Pryor). I could dig that b/c other comedians do it all the time. But when Cook sees another guy do a bit 2 weeks earlier, and then Cook's doing the same bit in his own idiom 2 weeks later--I can't respect that. It's stealing, plain & simple.

As for having to look far and wide for these comedians...Lange was on MadTV and is now on Howard Stern's show on Sirius. Breuer was on SNL and in the movie Half Baked w/Dave Chappelle, and also has his own show on Sirius. Dave Attel used to host the show Insomniac on Comedy Central. Pete Dominic and a few other comics (Kathleen Madigan, Tom Cotter, Gabriel Iglesias) were most recently on Last Comic Standing, and were damn funny.

You respect the mainstream opinion and not the art of what true stand-up really is. That's sad to me, because it's a very narrow POV to say "he's popular so he must be the funniest". You're missing out on a lot by thinking that.

Andrew Dice Clay had that run of staring in a few movies (Ford Fairlane ect.) in the early 90's. That sure as hell didn't make him one of the best comedians of that time. He was God awful.

I love Brain Regan. Which is strange since he's a "clean" guy. I liked his special on Comedy Central last week. Not as funny as his other stuff, but good. Kathleen Matigan is one of the only female comics I like. She's great. She's used to date Lewis Black.

I tried to watch Dane Cooks' HBO special awhile back. Lack of humor whatsoever.

That is who he is targeting as an audience, I did say he was funny but only slightly. My cousin bought his last dvd and I think I laughed about 3 times through the whole thing, on the other hand I bought John Pinette's "I say nay nay" and we couldn't stop laughing had tears rolling down our faces. Can't wait to get his new one "I'm Starvin". Also have been looking for Brian Reagan's new dvd and haven't been able to find it in any store for about 6 months now.
