Re: VA school bans touching
When I was in high school at Pound those were pretty much the rules (no male/female contact aka PDA).
High-fives and handshakes though.... even PHS didn't ban that...
Re: VA school bans touching
Ah yes Bloody Knuckles. The most senseless game ever.

Re: VA school bans touching
"Students won't get busted if they high-five in class after answering a difficult math problem."
When the hell have you ever seen that? Sounds like a typical administrative dork talking...also:
"Hal's troubles began one day in March when he got up from his assigned cafeteria table..."
Assigned cafeteria tables, what are they living in, Nazi Germany? I feel sorry for those kids!
Re: VA school bans touching
Typical zero-tolerance bullshit. God forbid those in power actually had to make a decision. God forbid they had to treat someone differently.
Re: VA school bans touching
I don't think assigned cafeteria tables is all that uncommon at an elementary or middle school level.
Re: VA school bans touching
Actually that is very common in Wise County. As far fetched as this situation seems, I can understand why the rule is in place. I did a walk through of a large Richmond High School back in the early 70's, and hey had armed officers in each hallway. I thought to myself, that will never happen in Wise County. Guess what, it has happened in Wise County and is needed.
Re: VA school bans touching
Whats the next process? School uniforms? Metal detectors?
Armed guards in Wise County? No offense...but that is hilarious.
Re: VA school bans touching
Does not each high school have a resource officer?
Re: VA school bans touching
I would be perfectly fine if Wise Co. adopted a dress code/uniform and put in metal detectors. The way students dress nowadays, a more strict code or uniform is needed. And why not ensure the safety of everyone at school and place metal detectors there.
Re: VA school bans touching
I know at Norton Elementary we had assigned tables, when we were acting up sometimes we had assigned seats at lunch but that only happened once or twice that I can think of. As for high school PHS lets you sit where ever you want in the cafeteria. I think it should be that way. If you go assigning tahbles or seats to everyone in a school, especially one that big, chances are you're going to end up seating some people with people they dont like or cannot stand. Wouldnt it be more pleasent to just let the kids sit with their friends and people they are comfortable with.
